Deadpool Wolverine 6/10 That rating is for the fact that it wasn't boring. Is it a solid movie - NO. |

Illusioneffect: kendrick9: In that case, I'll have to steer clear of the sequel. If that is the direction in which they intend to narrate his story, then this iteration of the Joker does not align with my preferences. The only reason I overlooked this dumb idea was due to the fact that the first one was an origin account. I figured I failed to grasp the essence of the Joker because he was merely in his nascent stage. While the portrayal of the decline of an Ill-treated disturbed individual makes for a compelling movie, in my opinion, that storyline is only suitable as an origin tale for the Joker. Frankly, I had been anticipating his breakout from Arkham and subsequent chaos in Gotham, followed by the entire GPD's endeavor to apprehend him without Batman's involvement. Additionally, the prospect of his collaboration with Harley Quinn intrigued me. I am not interested in stories that merely present a delusional underachiever with the "Joker" label without substance. There are numerous other captivating interpretations from which this concept was copied, and I can readily explore and appreciate a few of them without delving into CBL. 1 Like |

NaijaMemes: oyaskii:It looks like you guys don't really get my point at all🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ and honestly I won't try to write a whole essay on the subject anymore. My whole point is IF THEY ARE SPIRITED AND DRIVEN ENOUGH TO MAKE A 'THINGS FALL APART SERIES' - being American or British or Yoruba or another culture shouldn't and should never be a cause or deterrent to shame them into thinking they won't do a good job - how can you guys not actually see that? Have Hollywood made mistakes in adapting African cultures? Of course!! Could they make exactly the same mistakes? Yes! and could it even be worse? Yes! But does that mean they should stop trying? Of course No! How can you say Hollywood should stop 'cultural appropriation' and adapting African series because they can't get our accents🤦🏽♂️. There're not a lot of African shows and movies from Hollywood because of this constant complain - it's still a learning process. Do you actually think they would just get the 'African formula' instantly? Just thirty years ago - Hollywood tried adapting Japanese stories into movies and they were receiving significant backlash because they were never accurate. Jump to 2024 - Shogun is receiving the most awards in the Emmys.🤷🏽♂️ Being accurate is awesome but it takes time🤷🏽♂️ they may not get everything right but it'll certainly be an improvement. Bro, they've not even announced anything except the show-runners and you guys are already huffing and puffing. Have you guys not actually thought about the significance to Nollywood if this series does well at all?👀 Or you guys think it's 10 naira they use to make films? Be smart! Everything is about money - if this show does well- Hollywood will start taking a closer look on Nigerian stories - that way - it'll ensure they get better in adapting them🤷🏽♂️. In turn Nollywood will see a significant boom in quality because of investments - that'll never happen if Nollywood adapts the story itself 1 Like |

oyaskii:🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ I've been speaking to someone who doesn't know shit about Hollywood by the way. You actually think it would make more sense to 1. fly to a country none of the A-list celebrities have ever been to in the middle of Boko-Haran pandemic - 2. put them in significant danger 3. Fly filming equipments worth millions 4. Close down a market for months (EXACTLY! and pay everyone of them) 5. Report directly to the Lagos State Government (who have no significant laws when it comes to this sort of thing) 6. Build massive sets so the Twitter race dividers and baiters will be proud 7. Cause significant chaos because it'll be very difficult to shoot considering it's Lagos All to shoot a less than 10 minute scene because folks like you'd be annoyed and enraged on Twitter when they can do the exact same scene in a studio for less than 1% of the budget. I can't believe you don't understand the concept of money🤦🏽♂️ If there's a significant audience for a show - it'll get the attention of investors and that always ALWAYS makes a show better - The Things Fall Apart series can be a significant boom to Nollywood writers or directors looking for an opportunity🤷🏽♂️ 2 Likes |

oyaskii: I don't agree they have to come to Nigeria to shoot that scene in Captain America. It makes more sense for them not to security issues aside. Its an unnecessary cost. It's not the first time Hollywood movies have simulated locations in a different country before. Heck they have even simulated locations in the US when filming is majorly in a different country. Even recently the new TWD spinoff which is filmed in France simulated locations in the US you don't see anyone crying about it. But I do agree they need to do better research when it comes to Africa, but to be fair we aren't their main audience. Their main audiences don't really care too much how accurate their portrayal is to a large extent because they too are ignorant. Also a Nambian director can do whatever he wants, if it will sell to his main audience. It's 2024 nothing you do will be accepted by everyone but as long as you are smiling to the bank who cares really. |

Illusioneffect: I strongly disagree with you on these points... The local industry ain't as backward as you think. Having been on an international standard movie set for 3 months here in Nigeria I'll tell you you're very wrong. Communication with the Lagos state government and various agencies was mostly a smooth ride. We shot at various high density locations in Lagos...closed off roads partially and/or fully for a few days during our course of shooting. In fact, we shot on the third mainland bridge a few hours. With not much hiccups. We didn't need to close down a huge market for months. Just a day was needed and a very tiny section with adequate collaboration with LASTMA, Police, private security and the market people and all necessary agencies or collaborators. And we didn't need to pay off everyone. We had our own extras to portray market people the way we liked in our own controlled settings. We did all these without even delaying our original scheduled date to wrap up production. Almost seemed like a miracle to me sef. So there's not much of a big deal here if you want to go serious in shooting a movie in Lagos or Nigeria at large. It just all boils down to serious planning and scheduling and division of labour. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Illusioneffect: Simple and short- you are right: Hollywood can make an adaptation of a Nigerian story. However, it serves us best to do our own stories properly. |

abduleez1:You could be right but you can't compare shooting a Marvel movie to this - it'd be very dumb for them to shoot here and besides there are a lot of regulations and restrictions for shooting outside the US and Western countries |

It's very annoying that some of us here are always basing our review of a movie based on another person (supposed experts or whatever) view. It's annoying. Watch, understand then tell us what you think about the movie..that's what review is. YOUR OWN OPINION FA! |

abduleez1:Although she has been in various writers room, I remember her big break coming on to replace Jenny Slate as "Missy" on "Big Mouth", a controversial casting to walk into then, with Jenny Slate leaving the role, feeling uneasy voicing a black character whilst been very very white. Ayo took on the role like a champ and made it her own amidst the noise. Then she went to totally smash it on "The Bear" and a deserved Emmy followed. I might be off mark here, but I'd like to think she is truly one of the "bankable actress" in Hollywood right now, and at 29, she might look like a "late bloomer" in this industry but to me this is just the beginning of greatness! And as you rightly alluded, that infectious smile completes it all, so what's there not to like about her? Happy Birthday Queen 👑🎁. 2 Likes 1 Share |

They should do as they please. |
