Hezbollah swore they will not CEASE their attack until Israel stops their operation in Gaza ,now they fighting for their existence,is the Lord not amazing? 💀

The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament (a Shia) has been negotiating a ceasefire in back channels for months.
Nasrallah gave his blessing. Qassem is giving his blessing as well.
"ceasefire without conditions" is a figment of the imagination.

Burnaboy no send normally sha, but this kind of stuff is not good for his brand.

On the lighter note, I noticed since Deji Adeyanju finish law school he just dey jump on any case of illegal detention wey dey trend. Guyman wan smuggle himself enter conversation of human rights lawyer by fire by force. I wonder if he does not want to make any money at all practicing commercial law. grin

Since he is new, he has to establish his credibility in the field and there is no better way to earn your stripes in the Nigerian legal field than what he is doing now. While commercial law has more bar, it has reduced visibility which is important for a new lawyer looking to make his/ mark on entry. No big company is going to take you without the experience which is what this current situation offers him.

I believe it is intentional to raise the number of cases particularly popular cases he has taken. Also, these sort of cases are arbitrated on faster than your typical commercial law. He needs to stack some stripes/ W in his closet as building block for his career. Most of the popular lawyers, now SANs started out this way, built their portfolio, legal visibility, credibility before branching.

Your illiteracy confounds me.
Hezbollah means Party of God.
They have more than a dozen seats in Parliament.
AFAIK, you live in a country practicing parliamentary democracy.
If you spent as much time reading as you spend arguing you will be able to make more informed arguments.

Hezbollah is not the only party.
They have just 15 of 128 seats.
In the Council of Ministers, Hezbollah has just 2 of 24. The Christian FDM has 6.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Ministers_of_Lebanon

So, how exactly does Hezbollah control Lebanon?
Lebanon will attempt to negotiate a ceasefire because Hezbollah is part of its government.
What part of this is difficult to understand?
Or are you unable to locate the word "coalition" in your dictionary?

OK so how many of the other parties have started wars with other countries to the point where the other country is bombing their actual capital everyday?

They have only 15 seats. The Christian FDM has 6.

Lebanon doesn't have a president. They have a prime minister, and they have the Speaker of parliament.

Can you please explain how the 2nd most powerful government official is negotiating ceasefire for a party with only 15 seats in Parliament.

Maybe use Nigeria as an example. Tell us how it's possible for Labour party with its 6 senate seats to start a war with Cameroon to the point where Cameroon Airforce can bomb Abuja to smithereens.

Explain why the rest of Lebanon especially those in the capital would agree to go to a war with Israel that they did not start, instead of just pushing out Hezbollah to carry their wahala and go? grin grin grin

You are right that many popular senior lawyers who are SAN today took the route of activism to get to that point. Yet, there are several who got to the pinnacle of their career through commercial law.

People like Wale Babalakin, Osinbajo, Wole Olanipekun, the current Attorney General, etc to mention a few.

There's actually nothing wrong with using the activism route, but then I just feel Deji's intention is just to be regarded as an activist without really being a human right lawyer whose name carries weight. What I mean is : For example if someone is facing a serious charge like Terrorism, Reasonable felony in the hands of FG like Nnamdi Kanu or Sowore ; it will be suicidal to have someone like Deji act as Ur lawyer o.

As I say on this thread:
Facts do not care about feelings.

Israel's propaganda is writing checks the IDF can't cash.
After all the noise, you'll think Merkava tanks are in Beirut.
Meanwhile they're getting smoked on the border a week after an invasion.
They thought what Russia is doing in Ukraine is easy.
These are people that want to take on Iran, Russia, and China at the same time.

IDF is saying kids should not go to school tomorrow in cities near Haifa.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/after-barrage-home-front-command-orders-schools-shut-in-cities-near-haifa/
From today.
If they had not escalated in Lebanon, those kids would be in school.

Nasrallah kept things contained and only asked Israel to take the deal in Gaza and he'll stop firing on military sites.
Netanyahu said no. He should deal with the consequences.
Iran still dey bench.

I will use Osibanjo, whom you have on your list as an example. Osibanjo did not jump into commercial law right out of school. Osibanjo created his visibility and legal presence through the academia which gave him credibility and experience. He became a lecturer and grew in the academia before joining government and active politics. Deji doesn't have that, infact, at 41, he is a late bloomer in the legal field, consequently, he has to find the shortest route to earn that visibility in comparison to a 23 year old Osibanjo who joined the academia right after school and grew in the field.

At 41, he doesn't have the "working" in the field to earn any credence, especially if he hopes to become a SAN someday. Consequently, he understands he has to build the blocks using the shortest cut to earn that credibility, experience and constant visibility in the legal world. Another example is Kenneth Okonkwo, another late legal bloomer. He was over 50 years old when he graduated from law school but he also knew he needed a different type of visibility that is fast in earning his stripe in the field.

I think Activism is the easiest route to earning the human rights lawyer tag. If he keeps raking these stripes with his now "legal" activism which now gives him some level of credibility, he would be able to take advantage of opportunities when they come up. Considering he is a fresh lawyer, no one is going to give him a primary role in treasonable cases like you mentioned. However, if he earns his stripes by winning cases that also involve some form of activism, he may be invited to join a legal team for a high profile case, again, not as the lead counsel but a part of the legal team. Na step by step. That experience will give him the needed experience exposure which he needs, especially if that is the route he wants to follow.

Please, and I say this empathetically, do more research.

You're conflating seats in parliament and seat in council of ministers.

The Taif Agreement following the Civil War allocated equal number of seats to Christians and Muslims. Christians enjoyed a permanent parliamentary majority prior.
Christians have 64 seats. While Muslims--Sunnis and Shiites--share 64 seats.

It is inconceivable to say Hezbollah, which is only one of the Shiite parties control all of Lebanon.
And again I ask, do you understand what "coalition" means?

During the 2006 War, the Israelis bombed Lebanese Armed Forces bases.
In 2007, Fatah al-Islam, a Sunni terrorist group, attempted an uprising against the Lebanese Army.
In 2014, against the backdrop of the Syrian civil war, ISIS and al- Nusra front confronted Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army in the Anti-Lebanon Mountains.

Hezbollah exists, first and foremost, to safeguard Shiite interests in Lebanon and the Levant.
Because if they don't, they become victims to both Christian (as seen in the Civil War) and Sunni (as seen in the Al-Nusra confrontation) aggression.
The successes of the 2017 operation where Hezbollah, the Syrian Army, and the Lebanese Army successfully eroded ISIS and Tahrir al-Sham positions on the Lebanon-Syria border further helped Hezbollah standing among the Lebanese multi-religious elite.
The current governing coalition in Parliament comprises Shiites (Hezbollah+Amal (the PM's party), Christians (FPM), Sunnis (National Moderation), Druze (Democratic Gathering), and INB (mostly Christian, but also Sunni, and a Shiite Minority).
The majority in the opposition is Christian (the largest party).
You cannot look at that broad coalition and say Hezbollah controls Lebanon.
And unless you want to argue because you like to hear the sound of your voice, it is beyond clear why Lebanon will negotiate a ceasefire for a party in their government that contributed to safeguarding Lebanese sovereignty and anti-terrorist operations in 2006 and 2017.

If you're confused, it is because you are allergic to reading.

Is Hezbollah the only non-state actor in the World to have political and military power.

Does the Sinaloa Cartel run Mexico?

This is beyond your paygrade and since you do not understand the issue, you're hallucinating because she uses buzzwords thrown about in neoliberal circles for credibility.

How does "ministerial statements" enshrine "Hezbollah exceptional right to possess and use weapons".
Not the constitution. Not Acts of parliament. Not executive orders by the President.
Just "ministerial statements".
These so-called "ministerial statements" are pretty much statements by Hezbollah, Shia, or Christian "Ministers" probably made during wartime similar to Qassem or Nasrallah speeches.
Somehow this educated illiterate you're quoting is using this as some sort of ironclad writ.

You'd let one of these professional think-tank gaslighters bamboozle you with BS.
Which is unsurprising because of your confirmation bias.

Hezbollah controls a border and a port. So do non-state actors across the world. From Mexico to Myanmar.
No one says these non-state actors control their respective countries.
But when this is a Resistance group, you guys start clutching pearls.

Hezbollah emerged after a bloody civil war. The Christians used to have their own militias. They lost and then collapsed it into the Lebanese Army.
The current Commander of the Armed Forces is a Christian.
The Chief of Staff is Druze.
But agenda must agend.

What exactly in this entire disgrace of a response is relevant to the topic.

Lebanon does not have a President because all the stakeholders cannot agree on who the President will be.
Everyone has their candidate and they've not reached a compromise.

If Hezbollah was all powerful as you moronically have been arguing for weeks, they will impose a President on Lebanon, rather than have it remain vacant for 2 years. After all, they too have a Christian candidate for President.
Why have they been unable to do this?

We have plenty of examples around the world of coalitions hitting a stalemate.
We have the United Nations Security Council, where unanimity is crucial and each member has a veto power.
So when a country uses a veto, does it mean it actually control the UNSC.

This is why I encourage you do more reading.
Because no one on this thread can help you overcome your congenital intellectual disability.
Nothing here is complicated. You have just decided to be a stubborn defender of your right to be an illiterate.

Prime Minister is Sunni.
Speaker is non-Hezbollah Shia.
Commander of the Armed Forces is Christian.
Former and Next President will be Christian.

But Hezbollah controls Lebanon!

Yet the other day Okpa and his murderous crew were busy serving word salads talking about Mandela, South Africa and disgracing one's race for not supporting the terrorist organization called Hamas.🤮

I bet they don't know this is exactly how Hamas will execute their black asss if caught on the wrong side of the border.
Please can you list members of this crew....?

Cho cho cho.
Just dropping unfiltered lamba.

Keep confirming you're an elderly illiterate.

Why has all-powerful Hezbollah controlling all of Lebanon been unable to install a President for two years?

The answer was provided to you well over an hour ago generously signposted in green marker, but I grossly underestimated your commitment to ignorance.

Look how long it's taken for the cogs in your brain to finally turn. The only thing slower than your brain is the Civil service.

When you're ready, explain to us why Hezbollah is all-powerful and controls all of Lebanon, but it cannot install a President for over two years now?
