Why don't you say this when Dangote was increasing prices of his goods anyhow ? At least you should have cried out when the government decided to make policy that will make the economy crash like never before.... At end, most of you people are nothing but hypocrite... So because of humanitarian wey una polithiefians no fit do, companies should keep up without making any profit ? Do you even knows what it takes to run a business? |

Endinjustice:Ineptitude is enough, no need to add "Ness" to it. And if you were as smart as you seemed to think you are you'd have seen from my statement that I wasn't defending the perceived incompetence of the government, I was only highlighting the fact that 100% percent increment in addition to the hidden charges they already bill us is an obvious overkill. 2 Likes |

Fuel - Exorbitant Electricity - Expensive Education - Costly Food - Expensive Now, calls and data - Highly expensive So, how exactly are over 100 Million people living within and below the minimum wage gap expected to survive in 2025?!! 3 Likes |

thesicilian: Overkill?!! Are you quite certain of that?!! You have to be fully conversant with their current costs of running their businesses for you to make that broad claim. Everything has a cascade effect with the average citizen bearing the brunt of austerity measures directed at business owners. Eventually, something will have to give... Already, businesses are shutting down. 2 Likes |

Brace for impact It has been a long time coming. The service of all the networks has degraded significantly over the past year I only hope the service quality will recover once they raise their prices |

thesicilian: Mtn made similar moves in Cameroon during the last quarter of last year and subscribers in the entire capital city boycotted their services for months opting for other local alternatives, despite their attendant service inadequacies. Mtn of course didn't wait to be told by a soothsayer to soft-pedal on the issue. 3 Likes |

thesicilian:Where were you when NCC increased the telcos tariff? It was smart link who first increased their data prices last week. Why do you always sound like you're illiterate? Some of you know the reason behind our woes but chose to go on the defence side. The increase is long overdue in view of the floating of the naira by tinubu but these service providers were just managing the situation to support our economy. The recent tariff increase by the NCC has made it inevitable this time to also increase the prices of their services. Everybody must eat from the pot of the bigotry so, stop crying . |

Edygrin: Just to ask sir, do you own a business or run a business in Nigeria? If you do, and the country's currency depreciates with almost 200% trust me you won't be saying this. My website's hosting used to be 68 dollars as of Buhari's time it was about 40k, now same 68 dollars is 100k plus since this good for nothing government entered power and you are busy blaming business owners. Pls stick to your 9to5 coz you have zero idea what business owners are currently going through 1 Like |

jojothaiv: Yep... The tomato and meat sellers will compensatorily increase their prices and blame it on high cost of contacting their middle men and suppliers. There will be no succor for the poor in this nation. The plan is to use extreme inflation to kill off half of the population... Since Covid failed to pull this off, at the chargrin of Bill Gates and World bank. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Angelfrost:I've met many people like you before. A great percentage of Nigerians actually, same constitutional make up as you. Everywhere, from the classroom to the public transport to the petrol stations. Practically everywhere there's a gathering. The seller increases his price to a high amount. While some are arguing for a reduction, your kind in an attempt to sound more enlightened will be defending the decision and justifying why the price needs to be raised, while the seller looks on in amusement knowing fully well that while a price increment is necessary, the level to which he has raised it to is pretty much unhealthy. Now the interesting part is when the seller decides to listen to the voice of reason and reduce the price to something more commensurate, you Mr. Enlightened & Understanding will not insist on paying the initial high price it was raised to, you will quietly join the queue and enjoy the reduced price. Even more interesting in the likely situation that if the seller decides to stand by his decision and not reduce the price, those who were clamouring for a reduction may still be able to afford it while you Mr. Enlightened & Understanding will walk away unable to afford it. 2 Likes |

thesicilian: Now, you are beginning to rant...! Let's stay within the bounds of reality and objectivity. No need for condescending statements too. Arbitrary pricing still comes down to poor policy and price regulations. Are we gonna pretend like anything happening in this nation is ideal or logical?!! Cascading costs indiscriminately will continue as long as policy makers remain aloof to grassroot realities. Businesses have profit margins, and coupled with or reinforced by poor or no price regulation, the end consumers will suffer immeasurably. Your emotional feelings or my perceived logic won't change that. 1 Like 1 Share |

thesicilian:oga go and sit down! When a govt is reckless and continue to create unproductive policies and unconducive economic realities against the people and businesses this will always be the consequences. You can carry Thiefnibu on your head, you can defend him all you want, but the reality is that you will have to pay more to keep MTN in business. If you don't like it stop making calls. MTN can't pack up like other businesses. |

God will make life easier and better for us. MTN is truly justified in this upward review of call and data tariffs because largely all the costs of service provision have skyrocketed. |

BoldBrainz:They opted for other local service because other local service was also good enough. U urself, can u comfortably switch from Mtn to glo? Airtel is not a local service provider and their network is rubbish as well. Other service providers like starlink and co are not local service and their services aren't for the comomon people, and much percent of Nigerians fall into the category of common people and so that's why people using Mtn network can't opt out from it easily |
Re: MTN Nigeria To Increase Call, Data Tariffs By 100 Percent by smeag0l(m): 10:39am On Jan 04 |
If you want to find out the reason just ask questions instead talking about what you dont know. MTN is spending almost all their profits powering base stations as these are powered with diesel generators. Diesel was less than 200 naira at the current tariff theyre charging but has risen by over 400 percent and you think a 100% increase isn't ideal. This is asides the currency depreciation leading to an over 200 percent depreciation in their profits and the fact that they cant even get enough foreign currency to repatriate their profits a lot of the time. Let's keep pretending we dont know where the actual problems lies and keep deflecting the blame to companies who have nothing to do with the current economic situation. thesicilian: |
