#me@:The Pharm.D , is a 6yr program that lay more emphasis on the pharmacy practice components such as pharmaceutical care, Hospital Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapeutics, Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical Toxicology, Clinical Research,, Pharmacoeconomics, Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacotherapeutic Drug Monitoring. Though we still offer d same courses as d B. Pharm. The B. Pharm program is more of product oriented while the Pharm.D, program is both patient n product oriented with more emphasis on the patients .The end beneficiaries of the Pharm.D therefore are d patients. If properly incorporated, d incidence of adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, prescription errors will be reduced. The patients will also, have more information abt d drugs, patients at risk of adverse drug reactions are also monitored n properly counselled. They will also be involved in clinical ward rounds to ensure d patients are takin d proper drugs, dosage forms n d dosage of the drugs. The Pharm.D program will present more opportunities in d future. Let's embrace it. |

I don't think you can have MBBS and BDS together. It's the same body that issues both certificates and I doubt they can award you with both. Besides, if you're a dentist, why do you want to go into medicine again? They're both dentists and by the time you're in part 3, they should have been able to convince you that you're even better than a medical doctor. Your passion for medicine must be on Gear 1! 1 Like |

I remember d last time i sought d advice of sound minds here and u all heeded to my question. I was d one who asked whether to quit OAU for eksu medicine but to d glory of God i didnt quit d pd and i also didnt forfeit eksu admission. Dr aluta said i shud go on wit d pd if i av d aptitude for excellence. To myu greatest surprise, I was third among 1086 dt put in medicine in d test, i left for ado to start lectures cos i av paid my hostel fee and acceptance fee b4 d rlis of d 1st contact result( pple kept telling me dat a bird @ had is beta dan thosands in forest). I had no choice dan to go to eksu after spending close to 60k. While in eksu, I came back for d 1st contact exam, i av been displaced to d 12th position(doe, 11th and mine av d same aggregrate). Dis was solely cos i wasnt time concious in CHM OO1 exam and my non exposure to questions in pd notes b4 d exam. Now, i av lectures in eksu, vigorous ones in pd.. The race shud av been less hectic if d couses in pd and eksu are similar. Pd now teaches us organic chem(somewhat advance); eng( somewhat research demanding), phy(optics nd likes), bio( a function of reading d notes btw lines).. Eksu has d strict rules of a must attendance on wednesday 4 phy 107, and F in any course will send u out of medicine. I av always tot running both programmes together will be smart of me. I am now faced with abt 11 different courses to face(7 in eksu, 4 in Ife).. I must not fail one in eksu, I must not miss one question in ife's 2nd contact test and exam cos of d great competition among d desperate med aspirants.. I am totally confused cos i dont want my situation to b dat of a person chasing two rats.. Eksu medicine is yet to be accredited, I av paid almost 170,000 for fees and accom in eksu, I av spent close to 170,000 naira in pd. Though, I am still preparing for both programme bt sth keeps telling me dat I am deceiving myself cos dey both require 100% concentration to bring out d best. Help plssssssss |

Hello, i would suggest that you do not get yourself in too many trouble before you get your steps right, i am a medical student in eksu too 200 level though, may i ask this question.................... how would you feel if you if having left EKSU where you have your 100l payed school fee and you leave for OAU and at the end you are not offer admission or offered admission and not the course you have laboured so much for. my friend, let me teel you this in case yop dont know............ accreditation team will be visiting EKSU college of mediine this month or next... so as i said be a man of faith, have faith in what you have at hand. dont get yourself i8nto too many problem. if you wanna see me so that we can talk you can reach me on alabi.dami15@yahoo.com so that we book how we see in school |

Alabidamilola: This is really deep. If you think you cannot handle both, then, maybe you should drop one but if you can do both, it'll be over in a matter of months . But as I said, if you think you CANNOT, pls, be realistic, drop one for one. In my opinion, drop EKSU...u seem brilliant and if you put in enough efforts into the PD, you can make it. Let's just say the money you've spent in EKSU is one of those things. I believe you've spent almost the same or more than that in Ife Pre-degree too. Also, no knowledge is a waste. Another thing is that I dunno about EKSU but in my own medical school in Nigeria, for 100L, you musn't fail any course but all you need is a pass in each course. So, maybe you can tone it down for EKSU to face that of OAU. I know all you efikos don't like toning down anything but my dear, you gotta be smart. You don't want to forfeit OAU admission for a medical school that you're not even sure of their accreditation yet. I know what it feels like and maybe you would need a bit of risk here...I really wish you good luck! |
