Thanks justwise, but can I still meet up with any school by February and still use my printed bank statement (i.e 28th nov - 15th dec)for submission when I get my CAS ? Although the maintainace fee is no more in the account but I have the 28 days ( even more days ) bank statement printed out already .

You will be walking towards 10yrs ban if you want to be present bank statement printed weeks before the money was removed.

Look for another school, don't be in a hurry to waste your millions. This will become very clearer the moment you stepped into the UK.

Well, schooling in Canada and in the UK have almost the same financial costs. However, due to the weight of the pounds, schooling in the UK is more expensive than in Canada. The only advantage with schooling in the UK is that you can work as you school.... I'm not sure it's the same in Canada. I stand to be corrected tho!

Hello house, a friend needs advice on visa pickup. Her passport has been returned back to Water-Carrington and was asked to pick it up there cause there was a mix-up at d pickup point as someone she gave her slip went to edit her face and wanted to pick her passport, so she was made aware of the case and was called on. She told me she had all discussed and they told her she would pick up her passport at water-carrington as vfs does not have power to deliver her application to her no more.

Anyone with experience of receiving passport at water-carrington should please advice what the case might be for her.

If she innocently gave her slip to a known person to help her collect her package (through the right process) and you're saying she has discussed with UKBA who told her to come for her package at the DHC, I don't think there is any question to ask. Let her go ahead and collect it.

I am in the final stage of preparation to start my masters program. I want to know if there is need for concern at the point of entry.
For those who have passed through this stage what documents do I need to pack in my hand luggage for easy access?
I also want to know if there are questions they may ask me at the point of entry and also if I still need to make a print of my statement of account to take along as proof that my maintenance fund is intact.
Finally, how much will be reasonable to carry along in cash when leaving? I am yet to rent an apartment and hope to do that when I arrive school. I was thinking of traveling with £3,000 or more so I can cover my rent asap and not contending with the minimum daily withdrawal using my naija mastercard which may ultimately take 4-5days to access such amount hence making my accommodation hunt a challenge.

Your admission & CAS letter, no you don't need your account statement. Yeah u can take as much as £7,000, all must be declared. U might just be asked what course u studying, nothing serious tho.

On the other hand it would not hurt to have a statement.
The cash will be usefull BUT BE SAFE!
Do not tell anyone like fellow students that you have it.
Also beware of criminals calle Nigerian officials at local airport asking for "something"

Thank you so much.
How safe is it carrying that huge amount running around town?
Does that mean I should just convert all my maintenance money to pounds?
As someone who is currently residing in salford can I get accommodation I can pay monthly/quarterly or it must be a contract for 40/52 weeks?
If I can get quarterly arrangement then I suppose £3000 will be more than enough for the first 6months with feeding inclusive.
My budget for accommodation is £80 per week max.
Also I have finally settled for virgin atlantic and will be coming with 3 pieces of baggage weighing 23kg each. The flight will arrive Manchester sometime around 9pm.
My worry is how in the world will I manage those luggage on my own.
My friend who I will be staying with for the period pending my securing an accommodation said she can't make it to the airport that late. She said I can get a taxi that will take me straight from the airport to her house in Salford and should cost around £25.
I was hoping I could make use of the arrow free service suggested by the school for new entrants but since I will be coming before 20th January, I don't know if it is still a valid option. Any suggestions for me?
Your candid advise will be very much appreciated.

take your bank statement, you may or may not need it. If you will be taking more that £5k do not fail to declear it on Nigeria airport before leaving other wise you may stand a chance of loosing it on arrival.

I will go with a maximum of £3000. Any need declaring this?
What period should the bank statement cover? Is it same one I used for my application or current one? I asked cause my balance during application was well over 4million but currently it stands at 2m plus.
If I am going with £3000 should I deduct that from the current balance (which would mean the final balance will be less than the £7200 maintenance needed)?
Please clarify the above.

no need declaring £3k. Take the same bank statement you submitted your application with. Put it in your bag and don't give it unless they ask.

Not to worry u safe around with your cash, U may but i guess its better u convert all to £, Accommodation payment are mostly paid every month but u could pay quarterly all depends on the letting agency/landlord. Sure £3000 is very much ok, best bet is to get a taxi from manchester airport to ur friend place.

I have Zenith and stanbic naira mastercards. I also have accessbank and diamondbank visa cards. Can't I use these in the UK?
I asked cause I really won't like converting all the money and just keeping them in the bank or in my room in the UK.
I have a running business here in Nigeria which my bro is helping me to run.
I will like to make some of the funds available for this purpose and only use them when absolutely necessary.
I have internet banking and can move my funds between accounts anytime I wish.
If I can access my funds using my cards I won't mind doing that even if there are charges involved.
Ultimately, it will even be cheaper than visiting the black market for pounds as the current exchange rate is alarming.
If there are limitations to my above reasoning please kindly point it out.
I paid my tuition using my mastercard at a rate N9 less than the black market value then.
Converting the whole cash will make it virtually impossible to fund my business back home which is one guaranteed means of my financial independence when I leave the UK after my studies.
My aim is not to come to UK and pause my business but to "kill 2 birds with one stone".
The funds in my account can generate an income of 100k monthly if properly invested and this my friend is one extra cash I won't let pass.

Thanks. The statement I submitted was dated 4th December. By Jan 15th it will be close to a month and 2weeks old.
Should I still go with that or I just print my current statement?
Though my balance is still way above the maintenance mark but the current balance is about 2m less than when I presented it.
Does this present a challenge in case it is requested at the POE?
In respect to our local officials at the airport I will "handle" them.
I am doing everything by the book.
The only challenge I may face is that of the dried fish I intend carrying. I was briefed by a virgin atlantic official that though it is nt legal to carry dried fish but people do it all the time. He suggested I just tip them and they will be fine.
I won't mind removing those if they want to trouble me over it coz I rather not go with it than tip them above 1k o.

Hmm...I made same observation to the customer care guy I spoke to but he insisted it is not allowed legally even though people do it.
My little sister schooling in Hungary flew Lufthansa and had no issue with the fish we packed in her luggage.
I will pack the fish and wait for the worst. 20kg fish? That is an overkill na. Abi I wan go sell fish for UK? grin
