So I created this thread to get better views on who/what people think/believe an independent woman is/should be. A lady (firstEva) talked about her boyfriend having two cars yet she has to 'trek' about town, asking if it isn't selfish of him not to give her one, now I see nothing wrong in her wanting to share her boyfriend's car, only thing is, she didn't ask but almost everyone sounded like she committed a heinous crime for even just harboring the thought of ever using his car, shior!  .I believe an independent woman is one who can take care of herself but that doesn't mean she can't ask her man for stuffs when she needs it and ofcourse he gets to do same. I'm only asking because from what I read yesterday, people sounded like an Independent woman is one who doesn't ask her man for anything whatsoever, I come dey wonder, if I can share my body, my time, my brain, my energy etc with my man, what then is a 'ducking' car? 20 Likes 4 Shares |

If you are sharing your body, your time and everything. There is God oh ..... Please stop sharing, cos the more u share , the more u reason that u av right to his properties. Its like ure doing him a favour by sharing those things. This is not a favour or a time to return favour. Courtship is not politics. Independent- you can take care of yourself . . Firsteva's account was that he had two,then he should give her one when she did not contribute anything in buying the car and has not put a ring on her finger. That's stupidity sorry to say. . An independent woman is just...that woman who can function in her daily life indepently. Hence, without a man, mother, father, family help. A woman who can bring home the bacon and fry it too! A woman who pays her own bills, buys her own things, and DOES NOT allow a man to affect her stability or self-confidence. She supports her self on her own entirely and is proud to be able to do so. 10 Likes |

An independent woman relies on God/hardwork to excel not on a man. though no man is self sufficient, we can ask for help once in a while but to totally depend on another human who is not your family or husband should be discouraged. ladies can still buy a car while still single, you dont need to go begging if you can afford it. 4 Likes |

Firstly, I don't see whatever I do for my man as a favor that's why I said I'm happy to share it with him and therefore I expect he does same, we are talking someone you may get to spend the rest of your life with and you come up with this? Others includes influence, guidance, control, etc. You can rely on yourself, instead of constantly looking to others for affirmation, or to help you. freecocoa: Well,it actually depends on the definition and the context used... Independent can depict self-governance,self-sufficience,self-sustaining. We could say Dangote or Adenuga were self-made but is that really possible in the context you're talking about? No...it simply means achieving success/prominence based on one's efforts or actions. |
