Wow, kinda feel like crying here cuz Iwas speaking the "Black Oil" language few yrs back. Full blooded Geologist and I did have Oilfield/Reservoir professional level knowledge, did Eclipse and Prosper software trainings but..... Now am a Pipeliner, I do facilities and installations and there's this deep desire to go back. Stumbled on an online training centre where I can recieve good materials and certification on SubSea Engr the issue now is I have no industry experience in E&P. So to my dear friends here, how do I like a stray find my way back cuz I really want to?

Thank you so much guys !! Lets continue to share information . Indians and Chinese do these things a lot and help each other. I am based outside the country and i found some of these useful. However i am not from G&G background, but hangs out and work with lots of guys in the field. I am into data management and learning petrel now.

This manual is meant for those that are familiar/unfamiliar with Petrel...

This is a 2007 version...

It was scanned and uploaded to dropbox. Take it from an experienced user, this manual is much better and as illustrative as can be, compared to the inbuilt Petrel help manual in newer petrel version. It has 21 well detailed modules and exercises to guide you and groom you in a semi-pro. (They no dey learn am finish). If you are having any challenges, feel free to share.

For those that don't have the software, can get intouch with me if you are in lagos or osaki who have been magnanimous enough to help out. Though he is stationed in PH works offshore. I'd upload a training data later on.

Sometimes you may be expected to develop a velocity model to convert time surfaces to depth sub-surface maps… Fellows, all these sounds like a difficult and laborious task. The truth is, they are if you are able to convince yourself. But in reality its fun! As long as you know what you are doing.
Some of the skill expected of you as an interpreter are;
• Numerical skills
• Problem solving skills
• Organisational skills
• Analytical skills
• Teamworking skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Communication skills

There are very few seismic interpreters because of the perceived difficulty, willingness and resources to groom one. If you sabi the work, you’d be smiling to the bank in hard currency. There are also many textbooks (electronic and printed) that can help you improve yourself. So I’d like to encourage you to take some of these little but mighty things I put up here seriously and come back to open a nairaland testimony thread when your skillset meets to the demand of that big multinational company.
