Yet many of them were killed in the run. Israeli army does not run away from bandits, that would make a world news headlines.

Israeli army does not face attack by hundreds of insurgents hitting a small remote FOB, what they face is rocket firing across borders by Hamas.

No soldier can fight without bullets, he has to withdraw. The Israeli soldiers who were not smart enough to withdraw when heavily outnumbered and running out of ammunition got captured by Egyptian army in their last Arab-Israeli war.

Break army tactical rules, suffer death or captivity.

The soldiers in Baga FOB were well trained in combat tactical rules, so they knew when to withdraw as ammunition finished. If they are cowards as you guys wrongly say, they won't stand and fight for 7 hours until last bullet

Aljazeera is 5,000 km away and using an illiterate fisherman as news source. We never abandoned our base, we fought until the enermy gave in. I fail to understand why do we keep on discussing about the incident which happened two years ago while avoiding the incident which took place just on Saturday.

No, it is established fact that Seleka ambushed a recon element sent to link up with a FOMAC unit that had abandoned its position

Most of the fighting was done along the two roads leading into Bangui

Photos show so many bullet holes on the walls of SANDF base, and your own soldier @Andrewza boasted here about SANDF killing Seleka men that climbed over the walls.

You see how fraudulent you people are?

BH will simply capture T-72s while they are idling unoccupied in the base. They would have also captured HINDS if they had pilots who could fly them.

So unoccupied T-72 will do wonders and fight unmanned like a robot. Obviously, BH will capture tanks they find inside the base.

Why would soldiers refuse to use their T-72 for a whole 7 hour battle and choose to fight on foot instead?

No wonder you think SASOL controls Nigerian oil industry. By the way, how old are you? Just curious because of the way you think...

That's possible if they are overwhelmed by the attack that could cause them to run in disarray. The same as when your soldiers failed to use Hinds when they were under immense attack.

Your calculation and denial are based in which evidence? The battle lasted 16 hours my man. It started in the AMs. Not at noon.

And 7 hours is still long enough for a military fighting at home, with a state of emergency, in its own base, to sort itself out.

Your men failed and ran as a result.

And what happened to your "sharpshooters that never waste bullets"? (Your words). Sharpshooters ran out of ammunition. Sharpshooters ran? Sharpshooters had no reinforcement? In their own base? No man. The sharpshooters were simply overpowered and they took off.

Show me source to prove it is 16 hours

That's a lie. BH once attacked a base with 3 hinds and burn them to the ground. So what will make them not to attack a base packed with just slow T-72 tanks

It's much easier to attack an air force base that has parked helicopters, than to attack an army base defended by T-72 tanks. I ask again, how old are you sir?

All that we know is that Baba is right in Nigeria. A border town or do you disown Baga now chief, because of the embarrassment.

So how does your source differ with this source that I have posted some while ago?

RELIGIOUS TERROR
Boko Haram fighters overpower
multinational force in attack at
Nigeria-Chad border
BAUCHI, Nigeria – Boko Haram Islamic
extremists have overpowered a multinational
military force and seized its key base on
Nigeria's border with Chad, according to
residents who took to canoes to escape.
Scores of soldiers and civilians were killed, while
others drowned in Lake Chad, Nigerians taking
refuge in a Chadian village said in cell phone
calls Sunday night. They said insurgents fired
rocket-propelled grenades and automatic
assault rifles and hurled explosives.
"They came in their hundreds driving several
Hilux patrol vehicles, trucks and some were on
motorcycles and immediately began to throw
explosives and bombs," fisherman Audu Labbo
told The Associated Press.
He and others reached by phone Sunday night
said the troops from Nigeria and its neighbors
Chad, Cameroon and Niger fought on Saturday
until they ran out of ammunition. Details on the
attack were slow getting out of the remote area.
Some soldiers removed their uniforms and threw
away their rifles, Labbo said.

A senior security officer in Maiduguri, the capital
of Borno state, confirmed that the military base
at Baga is under the control of the insurgents.
He said the multinational force fled because it
received no reinforcements despite holding out
for several hours. The officer spoke on condition
of anonymity because he is not authorized to
give information to reporters.
There are fears the extremists could use Baga
as a base to attack Maiduguri, some 125 miles
to the southwest.
Labbo said the insurgents' bombs and grenades
set aflame several buildings that burned to the
ground -- businesses, government offices,
homes and part of the military base.
Boko Haram has been regionalizing the conflict
with recent attacks on Chadian villages and a
military base.
Thousands of people have died and some 1.6
million have been driven from their homes in the
5-year-old Islamic extremist uprising.

One thing that Nigerian soldiers are nototious about is removing the uniform and throw away rifles. Seems that even their authorities are comfortable with that kind of reckless behavior by soldiers.

It depend largely on the attack. When the fire is too hot no soldier can attempt to leave his cover and compromise his life. Soldiers will normally wait until fire subsides in order to run to the tanks. The question is what if the rate of fire does not slow down a bit and you are being overwhelmed by immense amount of bullets and RPGs. I guess you will give in and run for your life.
