yes yes, in West Africa for example, people like Fuanis have always used it for thousands of years.
It was also used as trading currency in many African nations, Fulanis called it Ceede, and that is where the first president of Ghana got the idea of his new country's currency name from: "Ghanaian Cedi"
As you might well know, he also changed his country's name from "Gold coast" and named it after ancient African empire of Ghana, centred around Audaghost.

Ghana has blazed the trail for the rest of us in many ways.

So thats what cede means. I always thought it was French or something.

They also have a French name. What a shame.

What is it with the self proclaimed "francophone" countries? They are slowly taking us back to colonialism. Really, why are they sucking up to France?

When Black/African men get up to their usual prick-measuring antics - always bringing each other 'to reality' w/o ever so much as blinking to - I just take one long look at the continent, and ponder the day the realization of their severe state of cognitive dissonance will ascend on them. And when will this long-awaited, and possibly phantom 'dose of reality' finally hit those shores? My gerbil also runs in circles, but as it turns out, his exertions are actually of great benefit to him.

Not all of them are, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Senegal, Cameroon (which is both English and French), and some other Francophone countries are still very traditional (a lot more traditional than Nigeria). Read up on Senegal's "Wolofinization"

Well france never really left those countries. Their currency is tied to the Euro and a percentage, 50%, of their foreign trade is to be placed at the bank of France supposedly to support their currency. Up until now most of them had a French military base and those guys " trained" the armies. Basically France was providing the military protection and thus stability and controls the economy through the currency. By infiltrating their armies, their political system through the education of the elite, they have build a strong system. So most of those countries have never been really free of colonialism. Guinea is the only one that is not member of CFA zone and never had foreign forces in its territory since 1958. But Guinea did pay a heavy price for her independence as France did everything to sabotage her from dropping of fake currency, isolating her diplomatically.
Unfortunately we still have leaders that think complaining can solve problems instead of strategizing.

Yel, Senegal has been smart at progressively extirpating herself of France cultural and political influence. Today you can speak Wolof or Pulaar at their National Assembly without being regarded as a fool. In Côte d'ivoire you couldn't do that.

Absolutely fake comment sorry Senegal and Gabon are known to be the most French link in Africa one for West Africa and the other for Central Africa sorry but this is completely false to say that Senegal is extirping itself from France and the sign of this is the Francopjone Summit held in Dakar. I've always said that unfortunately this country is strongly French spirit conducted. And the fact that Olof is the national language does not change anything I know this country and the culture just check the economic environment and you ll see that 90% of investments are coming from the more and more poor France.

Ivory Coast for example attempted to get away from French influence then we all know what happened with the best puppet Ouattara.
As for Cameroon Fulman just an information: this is one the African country which has not any military base especially French one result is Boko Haram but they ll fail cause we Cameroonian are united and determined their foolish joke will end with us

Cote D'Ivoire are wannabe sellouts (like many Nigerians who want to feel more American or British).

Senegal is quickly abandoning French for Wolof so how is it that what he said was false?

"Although French remains the official language of Senegal, Wolof has become the de facto national vernacular."

Right after finishing the conference, they made it known that native language are accepted in the National Assembly which goes completely against the idea of francophonie that wants to promote the French language. French has lost ground so much in Senegal that they are introducing native language to the educational system. Some have even proposed to translated scientific manuals in Pulaar and Wolof.
I see cameroonians claiming their independence or resistance if you will to French influence, but still your currency is controlled from Paris and you recently signed the economic partnership agreement with the EU. Not only is your economy integrated to theirs but also your currency is tied to the Euro. I'd love to see you work with others to eliminate their toxic French influence in the long run, but this rising nationalism in Africa won't help. On this continent , only Nigeria can survive on her own and that is if she ensures stability so that the economy and military can grow. As far as Guinea, Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana etc... Unless we unite , we are doomed.

Thats the one and only post that I've seen every time I come across these kind of arguments and I believe its hoax .

I was in somalia two years ago, and only the promiscuous ladies lightened their skin. Basically saying that anyone who lighten their skin was seen as a hooker. BTW I do not mean this in offense to anyone who has bleached here as this is only in Somali culture.

And its the same thing that Bororojo tried to post.
