I would have been okay with a draw. It was a tricky match and we needed to carry on with little adjustments. I didn't like it when I saw Blackett coming in for Shaw. My thought was that we retained an experienced left back. Although it looks like it was Carrick who gave the ball away for the goal, I would say with experienced men we could have defended better.

I think Shaw and Blind should have just swapped positions. Then Rooney to striking position while Di Maria drops to midfield. At least he would have been protected by Blind and Shaw.

I think Gaal wants Shaw to fight for only LWB. The left back might just have been reserved for Rojo and Blind.

We lost in a bid to play better than we were doing. Herrera and Blackett were to help us string passes better, but I didn't think they helped our game.

I don't have much to say. A draw would have been okay.

there's no problem facing him, in fact this is an easy choice to any keen eye who sees Man United games.
the line up today was perfect but the formation was useless & has been too static since van Gaal employed it. the average chances created with this formation is less than three, why exactly is LvG persistent on this 3-5-2?
compare our game to the days 4-4-2 diamond were employed, or even the formation against Chelshit & City. there's no point being arrogant over nothing, LvG should accept this formation doesn't suit his players right now & do the needful.

We spotted Di Maria (2nd striker) many times yesterday.

Even RVP was set in a position to shoot at the goal yesterday.

Although I agree the 3-5-2 is a problem. We were getting results with it initially because of the wing backs functioned with Val and Young. Without Young, we have some defensive stability with Shaw but the attacking threat is gone from the left side.

the truth is - rooney seems to be able to do everything but he's not the best at anything. this is why he gets moved here and there all the time. LVG doesn't trust him as a striker nor as the man in the hole, so he shoe-horns him in the central midfield. why should rooney be playing as a CM when we have blind, carrick, fellaini, herrera, mata, di maria all fit?

it's a stupïd goal to concede. blackett & LVG should take all the blame for that goal. blackett's headed clearance was stupïd. then his positioning was wrong and he failed to clear off the line.

technically flawed all through. van persie delivered a glorious pass at a point and di maria's first touch was a disgrace for a player of his calibre.

LVG didn't help his cause playing him up top. his hold up play sucked. he got eaten up by fonte every time he had his back to their goal. his setplays were awful & he stunk the whole joint up. his best position was where rooney played.

When I saw Rooney taken up the striker role and his "absence", I learn not to blame Van Persie because there's no cohesion between the midfielder(s) and the striker. The goals just go begging with Mata.
