to me, Falcao absent cost us not so much. Those on the bench and even the starting eleven are enough to damage Soton blue black but the substitution caused us.

I don't agree with your last statement. Word on the street is that fans are not happy with the 3-5-2 Louis van Gaal has employed for recent games. I agree with that too but closer observation shows the number of goals conceded has been reduced; yet the attack has been really poor. Earlier, the blame was on Mouroane Fellaini not been skillful with the ball enough, but recently he has not been around and the attack is still very blunt.

The analysts after the game yesterday talked about how the players lined up for yesterday's game was perfect for a 4-3-3 formation or a 4-4-2 attacking formation; and also highlighted the deployment of players out of position that berates optimum output, and also the presence of more defenders on the bench because the manager is insisting on the 3-5-2.

If really the current group of players at his disposal are no good fit for the 3-5-2 cum 5-3-2 formation, why then is he trying?

The most glaring flaw from Louis van Gaal are his substitutions. The are always so poor

falcao's absence cost us....big time!
he would have added to our attacking threat towards the end of the game where rooney became anonymous and we had to send fellaini up top.

what was LVG thinking? falcao is fit but he dropped him for blackett, wilson, evans, paddy mcnair? it doesn't make any sense especially when he knew RVP/di maria weren't going to complete 90 mins.

3-5-2 isn't the problem. carrick sat in front of the back 3 - he was more or less a defender, it's just that his position was a little bit more ahead of the back 3. 3-5-2 isn't responsible for di maria's shïtstorm or mata's inability to score at least 2 of his 3 decent chances he got!

4-4-2/4-4-3 wouldn't have helped us break down that resolute southampton defence. we had too many passengers in the team. valencia's game play was 100% but his final ball was a disgrace throughout. he got into good positions but chose the wrong option each time.

LVG has made a rod for his own back when he declared rooney is undroppable even when he keeps on producing shïtstorm after shïtstorm. no one knows rooney's best position. he can play anywhere but he's not particularly the best at any position.

LVG's substitutions were poor - they have been mostly awful and it's because his selection has been jekyll & hide. i will never understand why he pushed di maria upfront. if we were set to counterattack, then no wahala. however, we were against a team that sat deep and waited for us to make mistakes and punish us.

Van Gaal goofed and he messed up the team/game by putting square pegs in round holes. This is useless system will cost us the UCL if he doesn't drop this is childish stubbornness

2. If Mata is credited for making Valencia function (even though Val had always functioned without Mata),

(A) should we not also credit Rooney for making Young function all the while? Is it only negativities that should be ascribed to Rooney.

(B) should we not blame Mata for failing Rafael in the wing back in the previous league game?

3. RVP played 60 about mins and did not score, Rooney who had exhausted his energy in midfiield should be blamed for not scoring in about 30 mins?

we played 3-1-4-2. the four behind the front 2 included valencia shaw mata and rooney. mata wasn't anymore advanced than rooney in the game - and he played the game of his life even when the formation was tweaked and rooney moved into top striker position. mata wasn't any AM, stop lying.

how would RVP score when rooney kept making idiotïc passes all game. everytime we broke, RVP made intelligent runs and rooney the cow offered an idiötic through ball. RVP at least had an attempt that was blocked - rooney did not make a single attempt in 90 mins at old trafford - what a shame!
