how come ya want to use card reader and up till now u ve not made provision for alternative power, election around d corner and ya want to teach people to use it. Jega is wasting his time, he had 4 years to plan for dis buh he was busy dining and playing wif apc. I for say ya no get sense buh make I leave ya.

What is alternative power, did you not hear that each of the card readers have extra batterIES? Have you not heard that each battery lasts for long hours enough for a less than 10hours election process? Don't we have businesses like sim card registration centres that use LAPTOPS even with the poor electricity? Is it today or last month that ya knew that we would use card readers for elections? Why is this skepticism/opposition coming up this late after the planning, recruitment, training and logistics have been put in place? Where did you see Jega dining and playing and how do you come to the conclusion that he is wasting his time?

Can you explain why:

1. Jega's distribution of PVC was skewed to favour states where APC is stronger.
Tell us why the states ravaged by insurgency have by far a higher percentage of PVC collection while the Southern states where the PDP candidate is expected to do well have fewer.

2. Jega resolved to ride roughshod against proprietor, common sense and logic in electing to hold elections on the 14th of February, 2015. We shall be glad to know what informed Jega's decision when more than 30% of the electorates would have been disenfranchised had the military not intervened to save Jega's blushes.

Answers the two questions above as there numerous others that I will not be able to list here.

What makes PVC distribution skewed? i think PDP has been saying they will beat APC in all states and soundly, so where is APC stronger? Is APC not stronger in Ogun state that had very low collection? Is it Jega's job to collect PVC? States ravaged by insurgency have by far a higher percentage of PVC collection because the North generally has a higher rate of PVC collection. It is not about Boko Haram but about the Northern mentality and sensitisation. The Northerners are more motivated and involved in voting and elections compared to the Southerners where we have more undecided and idontcare electorates. Also in the boko ravaged states, there is a supposed State of Emergency in place which restricts movement almost like election day mode. So, they have almost no excuse not to go and collect unlike in places like say Lagos, where people are busier and have more spread, not restricted to their wards. Like me, i have not been to my ward in almost 4weeks and it could easily be more than that.

You want to know what informed Jega's decision to want to hold elections on February 14? That is a no-brainer, that was the PLAN. Serious people work to plan, successful people stick to plan. INEC was ready for February 14. You do not need, neither can you have 100% collection of PVCs before elections can hold. Are you saying that if by some chance 30% have still not collected PVC by 21st March, we should not move forward? The National Council of State met about a day before election was postponed, they all were ready to proceed with the elections, so where do you get your idea that it is not common sense or against proprietor? i thought GEJ said he was not aware, so how is it against proprietor? Have Jega's blushes been saved?

Don't be surprised the battery power of the card reader is not even up to 5hours when used moderately so I am wondering how it would last for 2hours under constant use during election proper. JEGA needs to be flogged, JEGA must go.

Are you saying this authoritatively or just making unfounded allegations?

Do you think some of us just come here to contribute to discussions just for the sake of saying something?

To burst Jega's bubble, he said the PVC card reader has a battery life of 5 hours, that is bollocks! The PVC card reader's battery life is measured in terms of the number of times it is used to read a card (or carry out any other transaction). It is not rocket science.

Most advanced card reader batteries can handle up to 200 transactions only, so in a polling unit of say 500 people, how do they (INEC) intend to recharge the battery?

You know 500 is even a small figure in some polling units in Nigeria.

Google card readers and read more about them, it is only then you will know that Jega himself is fraud or it might just be that he/his advisers are not deep thinkers.

Long-winded but little or no sense.

Should I suppose that you didn't hear of people spending over one week in Lagos and other areas in the South to collect their PVCs? You neither did not hear of indigenes being denied their PVCs in places like Lagos?

My friend, quit talking for the sake of talking...

The only bubble looking to be burst is yours. http://www.punchng.com/news/inec-buys-20000-extra-card-readers/
Please read through and note the above adequate measures put in place. The card reader battery last 12 hours if fully charged. They are needed for a 5 hour exercise and they have spare batteries and card readers. Also, 500 is maximum number for a polling unit. Talk and present facts please, not making unfounded claims and needless panic.

How can it make sense to you when it is not what you want to hear? Can you answer the questions i asked, i guess no. Different strokes for different folks, some people collected their pvcs immediately, some didn't. That happened everywhere, not just Lagos. There was some pvcs from cross rivers in kebbi and some few cases in other states. Those are careless mistakes seen in Nigeria in almost all facets, it's not Jega doing anything sinister. I didn't hear of anyone DENIED their pvcs. I know some people didn't immediately see their pvcs, and that is everywhere not just lagos. BTW, Lagos is more an opposition state using whatever criteria you used to determine who owns which states.

I am really apprehensive of Jega's ability to conduct a free, fair and credible election.

Why not try to challenge the logic of Mr Fayose on the use of card reader as experiment in a national election, rather than resulting to name callings. Anyway, that is typical of the Almajiri Peoples Congress?

I would like to congratulate Alh Tinubu on his appointment as INEC chairman and Lai Mohammed as INEC Secetary. It is to be hoped that.....oh hang on! grin

Jokes aside....Fayose should apologise that PDP has failed to transform the way elections are conducted in this country....and he should apologize on Abuja's behalf for not funding INEC adequately and on time too.....

They want to use technology to stop rigging but does not want to use the same technology to stop rigging. Joke of life.
Poverty Developing People should let INEC do their job, they're suppose to be independent after all. There will be a mock election tomorrow. The PVC technology will work and I hope the PDP will do the needful and cover its face in shame. I thought they said Buhari will drag us backward. How can we now explain that the "Illiterate Buhari" wants to use a modern concept (PVC) while the so called "PhD President" is fighting tooth and nail to scuttle it. PhD my foot! PDP want to us backward. Bunch of fools.
