•Don’t take us for granted

Even as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to sustain certain agencies of government to keep up with development in Niger Delta, ex-militants from the region have cautioned the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari not to tamper with the programmes of the outgoing Jonathan’s government.

Speaking under the aegis of Niger Delta Salvation Front(NDSF), the ex-militants alleged that their kinsman and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, lost the election to international conspiracy and further accused the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, of playing a regional/ethnic card in the just-concluded general elections.

The statement signed by Victor Tamara and Michael Akporode, National Coordinator and Public Relations Officer of the group respectively, reads in part:

“We are members of the Niger Delta Salvation Front(NDSF), a new grand coalition of ex-militants and agitators from all the Niger Delta states.

“We have watched keenly the recent developments in the country- that is the general elections, especially the presidential election, and the hurried concession by our brother, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

“We are compelled by these developments to issue this official statement -our first on the matter- which represents our views and stand on the elections and the issues arising there-from.

“We note, unlike the position of some skewed international observers and the media community, that  the general elections were not free and fair, and do not meet with best international standards for electoral conduct.  For instance, the Card Readers adopted by the Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were systemically used to disenfranchise many people of Southern origins who likely would have voted for President Jonathan. Even the distribution of the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) was done in such a way to favour the North, the natural support base of General Buhari.

“But for the President-elect, we want him and his party, the APC to note that we are watching carefully their plans and mission for the Niger Delta. We want them to recall the recent history of the region when crises led to disruption of Nigeria’s oil production capacity and inevitably affected the income accrued to federal, state and local governments.

“ That was because of decade-old marginalisation of the region and her people, who are the chicken that lay the golden eggs.

“In the past few years, some form of peace and stability had returned to the region largely because of the interventionist policies of the Yar-Adua/Jonathan presidency. The policies led to such laudable programmes and agencies such as the Niger Delta Ministry, the Amnesty Programme, … etc.

“ While our people think these governments could have done more, they were nonetheless not unhappy with these programmes and accept them as the irreducible minimum conditions for peace in the region. “Therefore, any attempt to scrap these programmes and agencies and marginalise the people of the region because they voted for the PDP would certainly lead us back to those days when Nigeria could barely pay salaries because of poor production output.

“We are not issuing threats, only a warning: That if you create the conditions for trouble in the Niger Delta through marginalization in the scheme of things, then be prepared to reap what you sow. He who sows the wind should be prepared to reap the whirlwind. A word is enough.”

But Daily Sun checks revealed that the APC while unveiling its blueprint had enunciated programmes that would redress the socio-economic inequality plaguing the oil producing communities in the country.

If there's any programme put in place by the outgoing administration which the incoming government find unsuitable or inappropriate, it must go. Ex-militants cannot dictate what is or not to be done.

This was why I didn't support that old man from one cow raising community in my village to becoming the President of my local government.

I don't want this boys to go back to the creek and I don't want that money to be paid to them or I will...

Best oil producing states but still has the lowest infrastructural development!
Community of greedy folks that will rather spend their monies on closing down abuja clubs than invest it in their communities. Even if buhari creates more programme for them, the naija deltans will continue to remain under developed! A new sheriff is in town, no more coming to Abuja to pack money you would rather waste than invest in your local communities.
What did their son did for them. Oh! HE completed the brass LNG projects and as well finished the airport in Bayelsa. He also tarred all the roads leading to Portharcourt and bayelsa. grin grin grin grin.
You guys can as well blow up the pipelines and kill your own people, contaminate your already undrinkable waters, kill your seafoods and damage your ancestral homes. IN ALL, NA EVERY BODY INCLUDING YOU GO STILL SUFFER AM.

truefact:
Awolowo never believed in anything that's why he died like nothing. He is coward. He has no choice of his. Zik bring him to nigeria, Gowon kept him in Nigeria even to this days.
Yorubas fight for your own country. ..Nigeria is not a country. ..
It is Yoruba cowardice and timidity that make them want Igbos to remain in Nigeria. Igbos give those cowards a kind of protection and cover from their masters up north. That is why if igbos secede now, yorubas will secede from their Hausa masters.
Yorubas fight for your own country. ..Nigeria is not a country. ..
Your hero committed suicide. Your hero is coward who never fight for your freedom. Your hero had no choice of his, remember Zik made him accept nigeria and Gowon made him stay in Nigeria. Your hero believed nothing and die like nothing. ..WHAT A BIG SHAME
All those you're saying has to deal with the past. Wake up! We're no longer in the age of the Colonial Masters. we'd rather you spam threads to encourage unity rather than bring back history of mistakes made by those who tried to divide Nigeria. Nigeria is a Sovereign State. If you don't agree you can LEAVE and go create your own Country.

They should take several seats . Everyone feels they can threaten GMB. The amnesty program benefits only a few in the ND, most of them get to america, SA etc and They stopped schooling.

With the Billions made by Tompolo from the pipeline contract, He has never donated a transformer or tarred a road in Yenagoa. The loudmouthed asari ran to Benin to open a school. Such a Selfish Bunch.

GMB can scrap the programs and initiate an agenda for the Niger delta masses and heaven will not fall. Omo to ba ni iya o ni sun........
