"Sell In May and Go away" is a idiom but some didn't get the drift.

Well if you buy OANDO above #15naira you are on your own.

I dont think oando will fall to N15 again for now. Currently it has been battered by the men in black (according to myjoy)from N19 down to N17.

I might be wrong though.. The cheaper the better. smiley

Well, Oando is a very good stock to watch but the men in black behind it are absolutely shark and one need to be a very smart swimmer if only you want to really dine and swim with them. I told one of our member here last time to be patient in buying Oando when it was trading around 19.80 (naira), he keep asking why, why and WHY? Once again, stock market involved dinning smartly with the sharks while fundamentals follow...i will only advised Sir Ucheson and Sir Peterichy to be very careful with them...they give no damn of your company or your octopus. Just watch your back and stay on course...

Let's be careful about how we use the "Sell in May and go away" phenomenon. It is not a law in itself but a trading strategy based on historical under-performance of markets between May and November. While this strategy holds some water, it doesn't mean it must always be true. What we as investors need to do is to be aware of such phenomenon and work towards outperforming the expectations.

Remember that the economic seasons change with time and these changes are largely responsible for overall market direction. For example, if oil price stabilizes at say $70 or $80/bbl, NSE will definitely experience a boost. If the naira appreciates significantly, the market will also respond accordingly. If the new government is able to win more foreign investors confidence, the market will also rise. In such cases, if you sell in May, you will come back in November to meet a much stronger market and you would have lost out.

Check out the history of NSE stocks over the period in question and you will see many stocks that completely disobeyed this phenomenon. FO, 7UP, GTB, Fidson, Beta glass etc are all very good examples of this.

Finally, what should we do? As investors, this is the time to re-position in stocks which will guarantee enough price appreciation to weather the storm. Look out for growth stocks and stocks which are likely to go through major positive changes this season. Some obvious examples are Oando, Unilever, Dangote Cement and Mansard. Also focus on sectors that will likely receive more attention from the new government e.g. Agriculture and Industrials.

When I said people should go and sell their oando to my coy some were abused & called me names, some went and started buying & other where calling for me to be ban from posting. I deliberately stop buying and saying anything about oando for a while just to see what they will do with wale's oando. Now look at it they have started dumping oando. It is good at least they have realised that oando is for posterity investors like my coy. Let me therefore call on fellow oando investor especially those that are not for posterity to sustain the sell momentum because I need oando to drop to as low as N15 / unit to enable my coy increase its holding to 3% in oando before 31 Dec 2015. Thanks for your cooperation.

These men in black, why are they withholding the result? I won't be surprised if the result is disappointing since all these companies were involved in sponsoring political parties during the election. Transcorp is an example.

You may be right but absolutely not the case. That is why one needs to be in that game in order to see those sharks. Don't be surprised to see the real magic when they reach their target junction at a particular price when the fear of unknown set in terms of dumping by those fearful lol

True, the dumping may have begun as I saw more offers than bids in today's market. My cutlass is well sharpened as usual.

When the money bags visit the market. they will release most of their holdings whuch will create a massive offer and in turn cause a panic sell off and sharp drop in price within 3 to 4days then they will take a choice position before the real journey will begin.

Smart trader ore mi. I doubt you will see it at exact 13 but anything above that but with +/- 4% is not bad. Or buy in tranches when it fall into your price range. Anyway, i trust you with your trading strategy sha lol

Oando market makers are upto something sometimes, when ever they want the price to go up, they will come up with bit of 5m unit, like when the offer price was between #19.40 last two weeks, at about 12:00 pm, they clear the whole offer, and place the bid of about 5million unit @ #19.92, this makes people jump to #19.93 to buy, then the next day the price fall to #19.40, and thereafter #18.70, and now #17.30. Stock market is always filled in with artificial/fake price. But no matter what, we are making money this year.
