PUBLIC WARNING Due to increasing interest in this project from Nigerians living abroad (not sure about in Naija) couple with poor coverage given to this project, it is only right we have a permanent thread to keep everyone updated. This is not the thread to have any socio economic or political discussions, but to stay updated about the progress of this magnificent project. Therefore, any off topic comments like tribal rants or socio economic discussions will be deleted (cc: lalasticlala ishilove please note). INTRODUCTION Nature has always bestowed humanity worth unlimited opportunities to shape his surroundings and the world generally. From the oceans to the mountains and from the canyons to the reeds, mankind has faced and surmounted nature's challenging obstacles. All over the world, picturesque cities have been built on mountains and railway tunnels have been constructed underwater to link destinations.where some mere mortals see obstacles, men of courage and vision see opportunities and flexibility.Such is the story of Eko Atlantic City. Quick recap: Since 2013, there have been an aggressive land reclamation project along the Bar Beach coastline called Eko Atlantic City which is now at the final stage. At completion,Eko Atlantic City will be sitting on about 10kms(4 square miles) of land. This is an area located just adjacent to Victoria Island by the Lagos Bar Beach. It will be comparable to the Manhattan District of New York as the developers disclosed. The area will be approximately the size of the district which boasts some of the world's tallest sky-scrappers.Eko Atlantic City will even be larger than a handful of beautiful Island countries. The fairy tale have so far been turning into reality: Furthermore, Eko Atlantic City will be home to 250,000 people of differnt nationalties and ethnicity. Developers said it will be world-class housing projects and residential towers. It is also expected that 150,000 will commute to the city daily for business. This is approximately half the population of a couple of states in the USA and more than the population of several island counties in the world. To put into perspective,it will be greater than the population of countries like Cape Verse,Bahamas,Brunei,Iceland,Malta,Belize. The contract for the construction of Eko Atlantic City was awarded to South EnergyX,a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group in 2006.This was after Hi-Tech Construction Ltd,also a subsidiary of Chagoury Group, completed the km Shoreline protection of the Lagos Bar-Beach. It will connect to an independent source of electricity and not the national power grid.stable power supply is a magnet for investment opportunities. In a couple of years from now,Africa's Dubai will be sitting on the Atlantic Ocean.such will be a triumph for Marin Engineering. It happened in Dubai, and in Singapore, this time its happening in Nigeria. Eko Atlantic will be a city to live and work in. With its tree-lined boulevards, waterways, manicured gardens, elegant plazas, three marinas and a stunning ocean front promenade, the new city will be a complete contrast to the congested, traffic-filled streets of Lagos. Ilu Eeko. Simply pump in electricity and see the SW rise up. In order to criticise this project, I had to enter the mind of tinubu and Fashola. At the end of the day, I had to give up on the criticism once I discovered it. Unlike many here, i asked the question, why is the money not being spent in ikorodu or other rundown neighbourhoods? Then you realise that in order to fund those neighbourhood regeneration, the money has to come from somewhere. The state is already maxing out on its capacity to generate revenue The vision is beyond the comprehension of most people. This is a direct play for leadership on both the West African sub regional level but also on the continent against south Africa. This is a play to make lagos the commercial, financial, manufacturing, shipping and air traffic hub of Africa. If you doubt, look at the project for which funding is being sourced or are already complete 1) lekki airport ( funding being sourced and private sector being discouraged by the attempt by some unscrupulous people to wrestle MMA2 from a private investor) air traffic 2 lekki sea port ( started). shipping 3 lekki free trade zone( completed, tenant already in and vacancies still available ) trade and manufacturing 4 lekki oil and gas free trade zone ( ladol and dangote refinery already there, expect to see more players) . oil and gas, ship building, services etc 5 eko Atlantic banking, retail, insurance, hospitality & tourism, law 6 fourth mainland bridge ( to enhance transportation between the mainland and the islands. I believe that the business case for it is not ripe yet.) All these projects are inter-linked by a common strategy. To make lagos a world city. Being done in a different way but this is exactly how many countries develop. Be it dubai or Singapore. By doing interlinked projects. One project in a portfolio leading to the necessity(business case) for another project. Not the rubbish other governors and presidents do. Just build rubbish all over the place without any vision The 100,000 tree seedlings being bred to line the streets, avenues and boulevards. Credit : eko atlantic 70 Likes 7 Shares

Nice. With Lagos as a ruling party state, this project has never had a brighter chance of completion than right now. We enjoin Engr. Kwankwaso and El-Rufai to deliver similarly scaled projects in Arewa just like the recent longest fly over in Africa, with the support of our Lagos counterparts. 23 Likes |
