First impressions, they say, are everything. Not the same for anyone who is president of a country like Nigeria. With Nigerians, last impressions are just as important as first impressions. Goodluck Jonathan’s last week as President has seen Nigeria shut down due to power cuts and fuel scarcity. Lives have been lost, airlines cancelled flights, media houses and banks closing early, telecom companies declaring their services would be hampered by the scarcity of diesel. One could argue, despite the turmoil that characterised his tenure, that this has been Jonathan’s worst week as President. In the midst of what has looked increasingly like a national security issue, the government has offered nothing in terms of explanations or an attempt to offer the way forward. http://www.punchng.com/opinion/what-cost-jonathan-power-in-the-end/ cc lalasticlala 53 Likes 2 Shares

So sad that GEJ failed to leave his foot print in the sands of time. No legacy and what a wasted 5 or is it 6 years at the helm of affairs. Its so unbelievable that one can enjoy so much support and momentum, only to come crashing down like GEJ did. There are lessons learn t. No politician is bigger than the people and at the time of reckoning, the people will decide. Any Party or Politician that does not make the people its/his focal point will come crashing down. APC/ Buhari hope you will learn from PDP/GEJ mistakes. We supported you and we will not wast time to go against you if you start going the way of your predecessor. A word is enough for the wise!!! 42 Likes |

The Summary: The summary of this is that these unscrupulous uncontrollable/not easily controlled elements are: 1. Boko Haram, instituted by the North 2. Political thieves and cabals who decided to have a field day in looting the economy of Nigeria with impunity. 4. Breakdown of Law and order became a norm, school children (I still see that as a hoax) were kidnapped with impunity, bombs became likened to fire crackers and thrown about freely and guns became the order of the day. 3. Rising costs in everything. 4. Development that is quite invisible 5. Paty Goodluck's running mouth The President on his part seemed too scared to take the reins of Government and handle them properly so he was booted out in no time!! Sai Buhari!! 11 Likes 1 Share |

What really cost him? Even the dumbest in this country know that mr Jonathan is not fit for a local government chairman not to talk of presidency. Go and check his records as state governor, many people re just born to be ordinary citizens. That is the category that mr Jonathan belong. I will not be surprised if nobody hears anything about him again as from May 30. Change is loading 99 percent 31 Likes |

I think Jonathan Lost Power because of the People he surrounded himself with, Let's compare this to Our Miss nairaland Contest, During the campaign , A neutral would think TWACI would win because of the people campaigning for her, a fan of TWACI even promised people Jobs in the Oil section, but when People started visiting the thread, they saw the faces of the contestants and the voted Tohpahz. I Voted PDP during the Election, but now that the APC is victorious , I pray God should lead us, I Pray Buhari should do well, I pray God proof me wrong on Buhari. 10 Likes |

When your administration has to deal with endless reports of missing money, missing children and adults, missing accountability and have that combined with endless political battles against the likes of Olusegun Obasanjo and governors of your own party, you’d have needed more than luck to retain power. This just summaries the whole problem that GEJ did have....... He took the populace for granted and he has forgotten that they were the ones that did voted for him 20 Likes |

Oh God almighty , your servant MUHAMMADU
BUHARI shall be taking the oath of office as
NIGERIAN PRESIDENT come May, 29th 2015. Give
him the wisdom, the zeal, the honor, the care,
the mind, the ability, the strength to lead
NIGERIA to the promise land. To those waiting to
see him fail, occupy them, shame them. Oh God,
continue to bless Nigeria as power change hand.
May we live long to see the change we all
yearned for. Amin 47 Likes 3 Shares |

The events of the past week has all but obliterated all shreds of goodwill I have for GEJ. That man is a devil incarnate foisted on us from the deepest and hottest end of hell. GEJ accentuates the notion that the gentle and innocent-looking ones are truly the most deadly. Underrate them and they will strike you where it hurt most. 11 Likes |

Can't be more apt. Dude got into govt with subsidy and is leaving with a nation in a state of melieu and fiasco. I am still looking for the Jonathan trains. The IPPs commissioned before elections didn't add a single megawatts to national grid. Is it the 3D images of roads done nationwide? Education is in tatters The huge investment in agriculture didn't bear corresponding results What about the missing $20billion It was a govt of scam and scammers A man with a gentle mien but criminally minded Good riddance to bad rubbish 25 Likes |

That picture tho. Lmao. On a more serious note, this is the reason why I scuff at folks who try to push the argument -there was a gang-up against Jonathan. They totally disregard the fact that for the most part, Jonathan was the architect of his own destruction. The man was at odds with those who made him the president, and most importantly, at odds with the Nigerian people. It takes more than good luck to survive such odds. And his affinity for the "sleaziest" politicians and MOGs in our midst did very little to placate Nigerians. He courted, condoned and rewarded corruption when everyone least expected him to do so judging from his background. Glad I'd be seeing his back in a matter of hours. 14 Likes |
