Remi Oyeyemi, whose views I do not always share, is absolutely right to draw attention to the harrowing conditions which beset civil servants in Osun. Having called attention to the lack of fiscal transparency in some of states, in the past, I am very concerned about the ill-fated decisions which account for the current crisis.

Is Ogbeni truly guilty of keeping two versions of the state's wage bill as implied below? Inquiring minds want to know!

Whatever the case is; I am making a public appeal for the adoption and implementation of an Open Data Policy across all states in the federation, henceforth angry

This is the reason why Fashola went to court to block the application of the FOI bill in Lagos State.

Tinubu is a cancer

Peeps just keep messing up year in year out all in the name of living the life. Hypocrisy and selfishness is the key word if you intend swimming with them big fishes.

When will the average Nigerian men stand up to fight for what is rightfully theirs? Must we live and insist on living under mental slavery?

If we fail to fight for our sense of belonging which is a place to call home, what then is our purpose of existing in the first place?
Very philosophical and thought provocking. I agree with your sentiments.

When I hear stories like this I pity the new Nigeria without the Niger Delta...the true economic hub of Nigeria.

How will states like Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, Zamfara, Taraba, etc sustain their economies in such a country? How bad can it get?

One begins to see the reason for the desperation to stick to One Nigeria. Truth is without the ND oil & gas what we call Nigeria today would be best described as Mogadishu.

A rogue state where the likes of Tinubu, OBJ, IBB and Danjuma who have the means to dictate who lives and who exists.

We are watching!!!

Benue state is owing up to 8months salary

Osun state is owing 7months

Ekiti state is owing 4months

And it goes on and on....

How do these governors expect their people to survive please?

Which "Ekiti"?
Certainly not the one in Nigeria.

Lol. Osun is an APC state so the media controlled by the West, and doing APC/Tinubu's bidding won't mention it. Truth has become a challenge in deed. And every word uttered is seen through ethno-religious political prism.

So if the largely West controlled media won't mention it, Newspapers in SE, SS , NC, NE and other places have enough worries of their own to focus on.

And that indifference suits APC nicely. cheesy grin

Thanks for this piece. We all feel ashame not only because of the inhumane treatments but also because the people of Osun voted for this same person.

If we as a people fail to organize the society we dwell in, it will be over-run by charlartans. We fail to see that we have the power to change our society by the virtue of the country practicing democracy.

Why we keep mum over issues such as basic and fundamental human rights still baffles me. This is not the time to feel ashamed but a time to take action. Make your voice and that of other osunites be heard. I will advice a serious industrial action take place if not the circle cannot be broken. Cheer up!!!

If those in Anambra with higher indebtedness can survive, I think they will survive. Besides, may be Aregbesola didn't want to follow GEJ's footsteps, who has been borrowing money to pay FG workers, I don't just know.

he should borrow and pay the workers! How can someone survive without salaries for 7months? imagine if husband and wife are civil servants, what then will happen to such family?

I am really disappointed at Aregbesola.

The Plebs of ancient Rome contributed immensely to its downfall.

As long as states like Osun continue to promote illiteracy and mediocrity, the Plebs will continue to wreck havoc with their undeserved voting rights.

The situation is far worse in the north where religion and name is all that is needed to secure an elected office.

Plebiscide will be the fate of our democracy.

The above bolded are the reason why the common man and the youths of the country keep wasting away and why the Plebs will keep taking advantage of a general state of gullibility shown the people. Your analysis is so on point.

aregbesola would have borrowed from the bank to pay salaries but have exceeded the debt limit for the state.
no bank will loan the govt of osun state any money.
the problem in osun state is obvious........
a large chunk of the state allocation goes to debt servicing, leaving virtually nothing for personel cost, salaries and capital projects.
lets face it, aregbesola has no business with governance.
the guy ran the state into insolvency with his dubious welfare programs
aregbesola ran a socialist government and for a state like osun with meagre source of revenue........that is an issue.
well.......the people of osun need not complain
they loved and adored him when the oil money was sustaining his welfare programs like the free school meal, opon imo, unemployment benefit for graduatres.......
thus they should endure with him during the hard times.......
as yorubas will say.....
you dont dine and wine with the baron, and then turn against him in the day of trouble.

A people do truly deserve the society and leadership they get.

Sai Change!

U guys are so funny. If Sahara reporters reports a truth about PDP govt, they are wicked and sponsored by APC. When they report about APC, you are happy and I see good reporting. Anyway, I pray that the govt of Osun State will wake up to its responsibility...

Of course this thread cannot have more than 2 pages! Afterall is it not an exposure of the most hypocritical set of people in West Africa calling themselves "progressives"?

Nigerians, continue with your selective blindness!

You will get your reward for all your actions in full.

Just continue.
