1. Gattuso 2. Edmondo While one-time friend and then rival Romario enjoyed a more star-studded career, when it comes to lunacy, no one comes close to Edmundo. Nicknamed ‘the Animal’ he was an absolute beast of a player both in front of goal and at the front of the queue for the bar. In 1997, the forward got his opportunity to shine on the continent with a big money move to Fiorentina in Serie A. At first it proved a masterstroke, with Edmundo striking up a dangerous partnership with Gabriel Batistuta which saw the Animal notch up 12 goals in 37 games. However, Batigol was ruled out for a several key weeks of the season, leaving Edmundo to lead the line for the Viola as they chased a rare Scudetto win. At this point, he did what any self-respecting nutcase would do; he cited a clause in his contract that allowed him to return to Rio for the upcoming carnival, something which was evidently a requirement for any Brazilian superstar. Without a fit striker, Fiorentina saw their title hopes sink without a trace, while all the time Edmundo was out sinking the drinks in his homeland, surrounding by fans and beautiful women. In 1999 things got stranger for Edmundo, after pictures emerged of him feeding beer to a chimp he had hired for a circus-themed party in his back garden. Bizarre, wreckless and totally in keeping with his career, the forward remains the one true mentalist of the modern game. 3. Collins Ebitimi a.ka. Barb wire Allow Keshi to work, former Stationery Stores FC defender urges NFA on March 20, 2014 / in Sports 3:37 pm / Comments Lagos – A former Stationery Stores FC of Lagos defender, Ebitimi Collins, has urged the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) not to interfere with Stephen Keshi’s job as Super Eagles’ coach. Collins in Lagos said that Keshi had the necessary credentials to take the Super Eagles to the World Cup in Brazil. He said the Super Eagles’ coach had the capacity to enhance the Super Eagles’ performance if given a free hand. “I know Keshi is a good coach, and if we allow him to do his job without troubling him, we will get something out of him. “If we can win the Nations Cup, who can we not play with? We may not win the cup, but we may get somewhere in the World Cup.“ Collins, who was fondly called `barbwire` for his uncompromising style of play in his playing days, advised NFA to ensure that the team prepared adequately for the World Cup. Nigeria is in Group F of the preliminary stage of the mundial alongside Bosnia-Herzegovina, Argentina, and Iran. Bright Omokaro a.k.a 10-10 The name 10-10 opens doors for me – Omokaro on April 29, 2012 / in Sports 12:07 am / Comments Maroc ’88 still remains one of Nigeria’s painful Nations Cup outing considering the Green Eagles’ 0-1 loss to neighbours Cameroon in the final. Bright Omokaro, one of the few that donned the green and white jersey got a new name from the championship. He shares the euphoria and pain of that era in this interview with Ime Bassey. Excerpts: How did you come about the name 10-10? It was in the semi finals of the Maroc ’88 Nations Cup against Algeria, we were one goal ahead and one man down. Ademola Adeshina was given a red card and I was on the bench. The coach then, Manfred Hoener came to me and said, you know you play hard, so use it to our own advantage as you go in. On getting in, I went hard on one of their players and he was stretched off the field and could not return. More so, they could not substitute any player as they had already used their three substitutes. On the commentary box, Ernest Okonkwo of blessed memories said ‘Omokaro has made it 10-10’. When we returned to the country during the state honorary dinner at Dodan Barracks, the president then, General Ibrahim Babangida asked me, Bright, how did you make 10-10? That was where the name came about, and I will forever be grateful to Nigeria for giving me the opportunity to serve because if I had gone to school or did something else, I don’t think I would have gotten such a popular name in the country. I am very happy today because wherever I go in the country and I mention the name ’10-10’, the door is always open for me. Can you recall your emergence into football? I started playing the game with Bendel Insurance in my tender age while in still secondary school, later I moved to Asec Memosa of Abidjan. I also played for ACB Lagos, Abiola Babes, New Nigerian Bank and ended up with Shooting Stars of Ibadan in 1993-96. I don’t have any regret playing for 3SC. I got married Ibadan and my kids are still there as I speak. I see Ibadan as my home. My medals cabinet started in 1982, I was the best player in state league with Bendel Insurance and I was called to join the junior national team. I won the league with NNB and also the WAFU Cup three times and the CAF Cup with Shooting Stars the first season it started. You were amongst those that made are early entry into the national team, how did you get the nudge? I joined the junior national in 1977/78 in first ever junior national team; letter I was invited to the senior team for the1980 Nations Cup. Silvanus Okpala, Henry Nwonsu and I were the three players invited from the junior team to join the Green Eagles. From then on, I was a regular player of the national team till I retired in 1996. It was a wonderful time playing in the national team. With this, whenever I am called to serve my country, I will do it with utmost joy and sacrifice to contribute to the development of the game in the country. You virtually spend your career in the Nigerian league, what is your overview of the present league? If they (league organizers) want the league to grow, they should look for a way to make the match officials to be honest. Nigerian referees and match commissioners are not honest. This has made teams not being able to win away matches regularly as it used to be in our time. Also, some players are naturally skillful that even inside the eighteen yard box, they can chest the ball, but when they do this nowadays, the referee will say it is penalty. Tell me if such a player will do that next time, this is part of what is killing the glamour of the game in the country. When did you get married and how many children do you have? I go married fourteen years ago to my heart rub, a graduate of Communication and Language Art from the University of Ibadan and I am blessed with three kids, two girls and a boy. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/04/the-name-10-10-opens-doors-for-me-omokaro/#sthash.GKLIeEJM.dpuf |

O xtervaganza:Spot on. I used to love Baloteli even more than that guy but if found out that it was just hype.. he is so average that I wonder why Sergio Aguero can't just get his body. |
Re: My Top-7 Aggressive Footballers by Goodnuel: 12:27am On Jun 23, 2015 |
SirShymexx:Haba!!. Did you consider fatigue?? Just a few games in the u21 and you tag him a flop?? Dude just scored 30+ plus goals in his debut season.. I'm not a fan but you are being harsh... And Baloteli is yet to score 20 in a season. |

I think Mario Balloteli is. Check out this quote by the Special One "I remember one time when we went to play Kazan in the Champions League. In that match I had all my strikers injured. No Diego Milito, no Samuel Eto'o, I was really in trouble and Mario was the only one. 'Mario got a yellow card in the 42nd minute, so when I got to the dressing room at half-time I spend about 14 minutes of the 15 available speaking only to Mario. 'I said to him: "Mario, I cannot change you, I have no strikers on the bench, so don't touch anybody and play only with the ball. If we lose the ball no reaction. If someone provokes you, no reaction, if the referee makes a mistake, no reaction." 'The 46th minute – red card!'' dharay99: |

Goodnuel: 38 goals in 125 games? I'm a Chelsea fan and I never even liked him when he was at Chelsea, TBH. There were so many clear chances he had that he passed the ball to GK cos he couldn't shoot and sometimes you just have to scratch ya head in agony. Not saying he was utter poor - just decent and nothing special. |
Re: My Top-7 Aggressive Footballers by SirShymexx: 1:12am On Jun 23, 2015 |
Goodnuel: Harry Kane is just typical English player - I need to see more from him, before I jump on the bandwagon. C'mon, he's playing against lesser talents and kids, so he should at least be decent, regardless of fatigue. But this guy has been utter poor thus far. The only two guys playing well at that tournament are Loftus-Cheek and Pritchard. Then Ward-Prowse has been decent as well. Sanchez played the full season at Arsenal, yet he has been supremely good at the Copa America. Ditto most of the players playing at that tournament. That Chilean team looks like the best team on the planet right now. |
Re: My Top-7 Aggressive Footballers by Goodnuel: 1:12am On Jun 23, 2015 |
SirShymexx:Summary.. he had a great season too. He was the top scorer or so. I'm a Chelsea fan too and I don't fancy him too but he sure had a great season. |

Il pick balotelli over suarez anyday. But surest- the General's position is perfect!! I think a league by league list would have been better. |
Re: My Top-7 Aggressive Footballers by Goodnuel: 1:24am On Jun 23, 2015 |
SirShymexx:I'm not a fan of English players as they are always over hyped by the media but you can't question their talents.. it is the hype that kills them. Players are motivated for various reasons, Kane is now a starter for spurs while Loftus Cheek has yet to play a good 180 mins for Chelsea.. you can't compare their motivations to play for the u21. OK, u talked about Sanchez and the Chile team, did you also hear of the Argentine Coach complain of Fatigue?? Messi also had a fine season, same as Tevez but they ain't playing greatly. |

Bitcoin:God bless you, I was looking up his name in my head. |
Re: My Top-7 Aggressive Footballers by SirShymexx: 1:43am On Jun 23, 2015 |
Goodnuel: It depends on how you define "talents" though. Andy Carroll was touted as a great talent but we all know how his story ended. I'll wait for him to do it consistently before jumping on the bandwagon. Truth be told, England isn't producing anything special at the moment, apart from overhyped mediocre players. I won't even be surprised if Wales were to start whooping England in the next few years, with their current squad. That's talent right there. Just watch the next England game against Italy and make sure you watch Harry Kane closely - his movement on and off the ball, skills, awareness etc. to get a clearer picture of what I'm talking about. Messi has been decent and he never plays that well when playing for the Argies anyway. And Tevez plays as a sub most times, perhaps due to the Champions league final with Juve. Vidal also does the same for Chile. Heck, even Chelsea's Willian has been superb thus far - far better than how he plays for Chelsea. |
Re: My Top-7 Aggressive Footballers by Goodnuel: 2:05am On Jun 23, 2015 |
SirShymexx:Again.. I'm not a fan of the English but it's wrong to say they aren't talented.. I earlier said that the hype kill them. Now, We know the EPL is most viewed league in the world and then you have kids being asked to play there weekly. I'm trying to draw the level of pressure on them. You notice that even the best players today(Messi and Co) didn't start with such pressure. In the past and present, England had and have talents in the game. You can question the FA and their management but you can't question the Talents. I can give you names of current English youngsters who can make the lists of the best players if they had better management and a conducive environment to grow. And about Wales beating England, that won't be about a lack of Talents but management. |
