Nigeria vows to shut down Radio Biafra
From the section Africa
Lucia Ihim carries her nine-month-old sibbling Chidera Ihim, wearing Biafran colors, 19 August 2005 during a rally by the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra in Okwe in southeastern Nigeria.

Many ethnic Igbos feel Nigeria's central government is not representing their interest
Nigeria's government has vowed to shut down an illegal radio station operated by people sympathetic to the breakaway state of Biafra.
The ministry of information said it has "successfully jammed the signals" of the station.

However, the BBC's Abdussalam Ahmed in Enugu says Radio Biafara is still broadcasting.
It is not clear where it is based but it mainly broadcasts to the Igbo-speaking south-east of the country.
The first republic of Biafra declared its independence from Nigeria in May 1967, but was eventually defeated after a three-year civil war that cost more than one million lives.

Our correspondent says the station hosts phone-in programmes with listeners calling to talk about issues affecting their region and their desire to break away from Nigeria.
It also attacks and ridicules President Muhammadu Buhari and other government officials.

Although the Biafra uprising was quelled by the military, a group called the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra (Massob) has attracted the support many young people in the region.
They feel they have been discriminated against by those in power in Abuja and demand independence.
Several of their leaders and sympathisers have been detained by authorities and accused of treason.

Why can't there be a referendum to know if we still want Nigeria to be one. Cos to me, the best way to solve all these problems is for Nigeria to be a true federation state just the way it was in the sixties before the unfortunate coup.

The president should act now or count us out of Zoo republic. For me, the problem is because the biafrans are marginalized and the best way to solving a problem is identification of the root cause.

Show them sense of belonging, stop the saying that goes up north 'Spare the snake and kill the Igbo' , heal the injury perpetrated during the war, implement confab report and you will see that Igbo are very nice people that doesn't like conflict.

If not, Zoo remains a history.
Long live the raising sun

The Igbos must go ooo. Give them Biafra or Kanufra or Alaigbo, or whatever name they want to call it.

Then we can man our borders with snipers waiting for the expected run back to mama. I know they will never disappoint when every one is a trader with no one to buy.

Good riddance!

The BBC today, for the first time, reported about Radio Biafra. On its website, BBC said :

“Nigeria’s government has said it has successfully jammed the broadcast signal of Biafra radio, a new channel that has been accused of spreading propaganda, the Nigerian newspaper Premium Times reports.

The backers of Radio Biafra say the station caters for the needs of the people from the region. Critics say it promotes the ideology of the former secessionist Republic of Biafra..

Minutes after the BBC report, the Radio Biafra Director, nnamdi Kanu reacted to the report via a post on his face book page. Kanu said:

“BBC has reported us at last. Very soon we will make their headline. Now that BBC has joined the party Biafra is very close.

Again,

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre.
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things Nigeria fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world..."

Lo, Biafra second coming is at hand!

"Zoo", "baboons", "cattle", "Fulani","Yoruba ", "cockroaches", "monkey", "mosquitoes" are some of the derogatory words typically used on that radio and associated media.
I do not have any issues with self determination because this is default setting of the SW. in fact self determination is the default setting of almost all ethnic groups if you cut through all the garbage. But going about it by propagating the idea that others are less animals.
This is similar to the excuse that the nazi used during the Holocaust by referring to others as "Untermensch"
It is even more shameful that no pushback is coming from the critical elites ( business, political, cultural and academic ) in the SE and it is obvious that those same views are shared by a significant number of the igbo society( going by the huge numbers who turn up at their rallies.
The same ideas has been quietly propagated by a segment of the north even though it is not done on radio or rallies.
This is usually the precursor to mass murder as the people who are being deceived see a cockroach rather than humans.
You have to wonder why the sudden rush of blood in all this agitation and the spitting of bile against other groups.
I have come to realise that it is the creation of the corruption and corrupt people who were swept out in the buhari tsunami.
The very people who destroyed Jonathan's government.

It is now international. It might have happened much earlier wen British Number one entrepreneur recalled his traumatic childhood experience of the Biafra War.

The imagery he choose to express this was powerful, so he obviously care.
