Paddy Crerand on MUTV "I think fans will be surprised in the next 7 - 10 days"

Paddy is always privy to some positive information. The last time he said something similar, we signed three players.
I don`t really know what he mean this time around. I hope it`s going to be positive on the team.
Bale(unlikely) ? Benzema(feasible)? Lewy(doubtful)? Muller(next to zero chance)?CR7(impossible)? Messi (so many of us will get heart attacks) ?
what can surprise us?

Lmao @destiny.
I love Muller who has to be one of the most intelligent players in the last decade but 70m pounds is obviously too much na.
If you are not ronaldo or messi the only reason u would b worth that is if you will sell shirts by the millions or score goals by the dozens.
Muller is brilliant in a very boring way.

TOP STORY: Bayern refuse United's record bid for Thomas Muller
Here's something massive (well, potentially) via Sport1 in Germany... Manchester United have reportedly had a record bid turned down by Bayern Munich for their 25-year-old, do-it-all forward, Thomas Muller.

The paper is claiming that Louis van Gaal and Co. have offered €one hundred million (£69.5 million) for Muller but the Bavarian giants have already rejected that bid.
Here's something massive (well, potentially) via Sport1 in Germany... Manchester United have reportedly had a record bid turned down by Bayern Munich for their 25-year-old, do-it-all forward, Thomas Muller.

Man United have made no secret of their Muller affection in the past two seasons, reportedly putting in bids last summer as well. Sport1 also believes that Bayern have rejected a previous offer of €82 million (£57 million) turned down. But Bayern are in no mood to sell, as evidenced by their resolve when faced with such audacious sums of money. Watch this space, folks

This News dey gather momentum o!

Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria, 27, wants to join Paris St-Germain, but the Red Devils want £52m for the Argentine. (L'Equipe in French)

United have lined up Barcelona's Spain international forward Pedro, also 27, as a possible replacement for British record signing Di Maria. (Daily Mirror)
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 10:31pm On Jul 20, 2015
The truth is Di Maria is not suited to LVG's system. He is too careless and impatient with the ball to be a cornerstone of the possession based team that LVG is building.
Having said that his quality is undeniable. I am happy for him to stay but i'm also fine with leaving if we get quality replacements like Pedro + Lewandowski/Muller/Cavani

Also i just got to watch our preseason game. We appeared to have played a 4-4-2 throughout the match, i hope its not a case of LVG getting his formations wrong until mid March like last season

Yeah. while its normal to vary tactics n formation from time to time it is important to have a primary formation that works most of the time.
The reasonable options are 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2.

i mentioned it cos i was surprised that nobody mentioned here during and after the match

I'm not sure 4-2-3-1 is an option tho, he barely used that last season.
I still won't mind as long as Rooney is not playing as no. 10.

Coogar, siniza et al, the truth is finally out from the horse's(Rooney's) mouth.

Rooney categorically said his best position is as a striker. He also put to rest the age-long argument that Rooney played number 9 role in his two most productive seasons in Man Utd shirt (2009/10 and 2011/12 seasons)

Manchester United look to finally solve the problem of Wayne Rooney's best position after years of filling in the gaps

July 2008 and Sir Alex Ferguson sits in the dug-out of a football stadium in Durban and talks about Manchester United's prospects for the coming season.

At that time, Luiz Felipe Scolari is manager of Chelsea, Portsmouth are among United's early opponents in the Premier League and Arsenal are only four years in to what is now an eleven-year wait for their next English championship.

Some things, though, are the same. Early in the conversation, Ferguson is asked about Wayne Rooney.

'We have to define his role a bit better,' says Ferguson.

'We have kept using him in different positions, asking him to sacrifice himself for the team. I have to take a bit of responsibility for that.

'I think his best position is through the middle.'

Spin forwards seven years. Much has changed in Rooney's life but much has stayed the same.

The season before that Ferguson sound bite, Rooney had scored just 12 Premier League goals as he was rotated through his manager's formation. Last season, his first under Louis van Gaal, he scored exactly the same number during a campaign that at one point saw him operating as a holding midfield player.

Needs must in football and all that but over the years it has too often been Rooney who has been handed the responsibility – sometimes onerous – of filling in the gaps and as he talked outside the dressing room at Seattle's CenturyLink Field at the weekend the conversation soon took a familiar turn

'My best position, and I have always said it, is as a striker, getting into the box and scoring,' said Rooney. 'The two seasons I have really done that as a lone striker were my two best goal scoring seasons here.

'So hopefully if I play up there again this season then I can score the goals. It is where I like to play and I am sure it is where I will play. It is where the manager and myself see my best position.

'Hopefully I can get a good run of games and repay the manager and score goals for the team.

'I have played different roles over the years for United but you only have to look when I play for England as a striker I score goals. I am ready for the season.'

Rooney is an uncomplaining kind of footballer. Over the years at Old Trafford – he is about to start his 12th season at the club – he has won enough trophies to compensate for the times when he has inevitably sensed the frustration that comes with weeks spent playing effectively out of position.

Towards the end of Ferguson's time the subject irritated him. Equally David Moyes found the subject tricky and only this week Van Gaal bristled when asked about his captain.

'The English media always tell me where he should play,' he said.

This time round at least, Rooney has been pencilled in as United's number nine and he believes the numbers back up the argument.

Asked about the 2011-12 season that brought him 35 goals he said: 'That was the last time I really played the full season as a striker.

'All the other seasons I have been up front, then in midfield or out wide so hopefully if I stay up front then I can get near that again.

'I have no doubts in myself. I have no doubts that I can do that again and I am ready to take on that mantle again and be the one who gets the goals for this team.

'Certainly I hope to score 20 or more goals again. If I am playing as a striker then I will be disappointed if I cannot do that again.

'I don't think I have sacrificed myself too much over the years. Football is a team game and you win and lose together.

'Over the years I have been successful and won a lot of trophies with United and I think there are times when you have to do things for the good of the team and I feel I have done that.

What has elampiro got to say to these?

Hope there won't be twisting that he doesn't understand the meaning of a Striker. Lol. Or maybe he was drunk!

LMAO. I saw this news last night on Goal.com and was ROTFLMAO. I woke up and knew someone will paste here to expose Elamps. grin grin grin grin

The truth is, Elamps stylishly dodged after he saw he was losing that argument. Even Goal.com used the word "upfront" while quoting Rooney, to show that Rooney meant the CF (9) position when he was saying UPFRONT. It's now clear and visible to the blind that Rooney wanted the upfront (9) position that Van Persie took from him when he arrived. grin grin

Wayne Rooney says Louis van Gaal is planning to play him as Manchester United's lone striker next season.

United have signed Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay this summer, but are yet to replace strikers Falcao or Rovin van Persie, who have departed for Chelsea and Fenerbahce respectively.

Rooney's role in Van Gaal's starting XI was a subject of debate last season as the 29-year-old dropped into a deeper role in midfield at times, but the club captain says he and the Dutchman agree he should be deployed as the main striker during the 2015-16 campaign.

“My best position, and I have always said it, is as a striker, getting into the box,” Rooney told the Daily Telegraph. “And the two seasons I have really done that as a lone striker have been my two best goalscoring seasons. It is where the manager and myself see my best position.

“Hopefully I can get a good run of games and repay the manager and score goals for the team, but it is obviously on me to do that.

"I have no doubts that I can score 20 goals or more again and I am ready to take on that mantle and be the one who gets the goals for this team.

" If I play up there again this season, then I can get the goals. It is where I like and it is where I will play.”

The England international has also set himself a target for goals next season as he attempts to make the club title challengers again.

He added: “I have played different roles over the years for United, but you only have to look when I play for England as a striker, I score goals.”

“I hope to score 20 or more goals again this season. If I am playing as a striker, I will be disappointed if I cannot that do that. The last time I really played the full season as a striker was 2011-12. All the other seasons, I have been up front, then in midfield or out wide, so hopefully if I will stay up front. But I don’t think I have sacrificed myself too much over the years."

www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2015/07/21/13753992/rooney-van-gaal-sees-me-as-man-utds-lone-striker?ICID=OP

Notice the first embolden words? That's Rooney admitting if he plays "up there (upfront/9 (Persie's role at Man Utd) " he will get goals which he lacked when Persie came to Man Utd.

Rooney also proves us right with second embolden as being a number 9(UPFRONT) in those two seasons AND BEFORE PERSIE CAME.

The colored also exposes Elampawa who denied Rooney wasn't being jealous of Persie's position because he said he had played in midfield OVER THE YEARS and has made made sacrifices, which everyone knows and Rooney doesn't complain about it. Which begs the question - WHY DID ROONEY THEN STARTED COMPLAINING IN PERSIE'S MAIDEN SEASON ONLY?
