SAAF now (allmost definitly) operates the Seeker 400 UAV It’s about as official as it can be without any official acknowledgement. According to the latest Denel annual report “the Seeker 400 is now in production for our local customer”. “The Seeker 400, the latest and most advanced UAV, has completed flight testing and is now in production for our local customer. The Seeker 400 has the ability to carry two different payloads at a time, such as synthetic aperture radar, electro-optical sensors or electronic and communication sensors. The payloads can be interchanged in field allowing the Seeker 400 to be tailored for different tactical situations”. The Seeker 400 reportedly has a 16 hour endurance giving it more than 10 hours of loiter time and can also be fitted with hard points to accommodate Impi-S air-to-ground missiles. jln115: Your military is not modern the fact that Denel makes your equipment too complicated for your military doesn't make you modern. If your equipment are Modern why haven't you sold your helicopters to anyone, we all know why? Not even your government is ready to buy more than 11 of them. |

iblawi:To complicated? were do you come up with this B.S? And Actually, theres a very good chance that the Rooivalk program is going to be revived: http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40204:denel-aerostructures-ready-to-support-rooivalk-ii&catid=35:Aerospace&Itemid=107 http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40054:strong-order-book-growing-profit-diversified-product-offering-confirm-denel-as-africas-hi-tech-powerhouse&catid=7:Industry&Itemid=116 http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40036:denel-expects-rooivalk-production-decision-later-this-year&catid=35:Aerospace&Itemid=107 AND BTW the Rooivalk only lost one bid, and that was for the Turkish AH program, and it only lost due to the fact that it had eurocopter components, even though it lost the bid, it was still picked above the likes of the Apache, Cobra, KA 50 and Eurocopter Tiger!! |

shizzy7: Terrorists or militants are one and the same thing. The only few of them overpowered your military and managed to gain access in military base after all your troops fled and they helped themselves with your weapons. Oh!! your military is a joke. I have never imagine that in this modern times any military can be defeated at its base where they have support of every powerful weapon but I have seen that happening in Nigeria where military was defeated to a point that they even lost their base to enemies. Your military can never be placed as the third powerful military in Africa with such an embarrassing record. What exactly do you want people to think of Africa? That their third most powerful military was beaten by just bandits to the point of losing their military base and not once, twice, thrice or fourth time but in fact several countless times. Please hold your horses and place your military to a position it deserves, but please not the third place because that will ridicule Africa. Many poor militaries in Africa will never allow that to happen and they will rather hold their ground to protect their national pride. They will never allow insurgents take their military base away from their home soil. Spare us your shame because you will only put unnecessary honours on the shoulders of the pirates and BH for having on many times defeated the third most powerful military in Africa and take over their base. I mean Africa and the world can never offer you that position because of the disgrace and dishonour you will attract on that position. You will rather make the ranking of Africa's militaries weak, especially as compared to Asia who will laugh by saying that in Africa you will only have to count One and Two and after that the list is complete since no:3 is just a walk over having had the record of losing their national pride on their home soul in many times on their home soul. The military which allowed civilians to fight on their behalf, and as such violating Geneva conventions rules. Please, save us a shame. |

jln115:You have no BVR missile. The marlin only exists on paper. No, the SAAF only has 9 Pilots, and none of them are combat qualified. |

jln115: You have no Mokopa missiles. You cannot field them because you cannot afford them. |

THE SAAF SEEKER 400 WILL BE ARMED WITH MOKOPA OR IMPI-S MISSILES ( Small 25 kg missiles)

Henry120: Bwahaha… Next month Denel will fully prove you wrong when they will be doing firing tests. What I like about Marlin is the fact that the project is fully funded by the government meaning that Denel does it for SANDF. The weapon will not need to be bought or whatever. They will develop it for SAAF. 1 Like |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 3:32pm On Aug 19, 2015 |
Henry120: Nigeria themselves don't have any bvr. According to you it exists on paper yet Denel will be having unguided test of the system. I never knew you can the marlin on a paper. You have less then 3 obsolete relic F-7's and 3 pilots. Your country has never even fired a single air to air missile at another competent airforce in its entire history so you are hopelessly unqualified without any combat experience, instead your unqualified two F-7 fighter pilots fire unguided dumb bombs at innocent civilians. We have one best WVR missile in the world currently and is even rated as one of the best. Where is your domestically manufactured air to air missile. 2 Likes |

mzilakazi: The proposed new American camp will still not work in winter snow lands, USA will still have second camp for white snow terrains. So, not one universal camp. Your SANDF deep brown camo will fail in Sahara type of desert, any light yellow sand terrain will expose your entire army like goods displayed for sale on a trade fair open pavilion , the enemy will see your brownie uniform with their eyes 3 km away, they will be kïlling yöu like Baygon killing mosquitoes at random . |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 4:03pm On Aug 19, 2015 |
mzilakazi: Evolution. Nigerian army is designing and field testing a new universal desert camo. We will still have different jungle camo, because green is the only blend for greenery. Our navy and air force will have their own different camo. Blue/Black/Grey is the only blend for blue sea. No sensible navy will wear land colored camo at sea. SANDF brownie uniform is designed only for fighting at home, go wear it in a yellow sand desert and see how snipers will eat your troops for breakfast, lunch, and dinner . |
