I thought the same until minnietope applied for the spousal open work permit with her hubby and got it.

My husband applied for SOWP not EE.

favour0011:
I don't get it. Are you talking about spousal work permit (sowp) or express entry (ee). One of the conditions for sowp is that the applicants spouse is based in Canada either as a citizen, pr or student . I stand to be corrected tho. Please enlighten us.

Thanks!

Memorial University of Newfoundland. But it's not about the cgpa alone. Sometimes they require that u have at least "B" in your last two sessions of UG program. Then your SoP is also a major factor, i think it's more important than ur cgpa sef..... just take your time to carefully read through the department's minimum requirements. I wish you best of luck

Good day all... Please, my co-sponsor declared a certain amount of money, should my dad (sponsor) do the same??thanks
I think it's advisable. That will show he's got plans for you, and not just making promises! To be on a safe side, you can make a budget of all your expenses. So let your dad state how much he's gonna give you every year. Eg if your total budget for a 2-year program is 50k cad, your dad could say he would give u 20k cad annually while your co sponsor, 5k cad annually. It's not compulsory though....just shows you have a workable plan!

Yes your friend can reapply so long as his new application is different from the previous one. It will not be an automatic rejection assuming your friend at least meets their minimum requirements. I have friends who reapplied and got admitted into schools that initially declined them an offer.

So I just got to vfs office, and I wasn't surprised

They only removed length of proposed stay from my first refusal.

Travel history
Current employment situation
Purpose of visit
Personal assets.

CIC should stop speaking in parables anymore, I know what they want and I'll it to give them
Even if it'll take time I'll apply with a masters or a graduate certificate from a university in my next application.

I like your determination. This is definitely not over. You may want to consider University of Victoria and University of Ottawa for Masters' admission. They have been known to accept candidates with 2.2 for graduate studies.

You are really close to getting your TRV, as these reasons are usually the easiest to fix. My sister got delayed for these two same exact reasons, and she was able to get her TRV in her next app.

My recommendations for you:
1. Pay one year's full tuiton
2. Pay one year (or half year) room and board
3. Write a Letter of Clarification (different from your SOP) summarizing the changes to your application, highlighting that you have paid the full annual fees of your program with receipts attached. This Letter would be the first document in your "Proof of Funds" section.
4. (optional) Create a spreadsheet or table detailing annual expenses vs funds available. This would be a concise summary of all your expenses, and all your sources of funds. It will make it easy for the VO to comprehend your finances.

Also, I would recommend that your sponsor and all co-sponsors in their letters state exactly how much they would be contributing to you annually. The total of this amount (or the total of their bank statement balances, whichever looks better) is what you would write in the "Funds Available For Your Stay" box. Also don't forget to include documents on the sources of funds (e.g. employment details and income) for all sponsors.

Question: in your previous application, what did you state as your total annual expenses? And what number did you write under "Funds Available For Your Stay"?

My co-sponsor already specified how much she would give me annually - $10,000. On the issue of room and board, I will be staying off campus, I have already made arrangements for that too, will be staying with Santohfilz

Total expenses as stated on my letter of acceptance:
Tuition: 13,614
Room and board: 8,681

Funds available for my stay
52,000

Could you please furnish me with a transcript of how the spreadsheet and letter of clarification should look like? Did a search on google couldn't find one to match my context.

A friend just told me my problem could be the duration covered by my bank statement, since CIC demanded one covering 6months and mine only covers a max of 4months. Could he be right?
Much appreciated.

No mind dem.

There's an adage in Igbo that goes thus: Aku fere'cha oda na la - Translation: A winged termite might fly for a short while but soon it will lose its wings and fall to the ground, easy to catch.

The TRV might proof elusive for a while but soon it will come within our grasp. Nothing spoil.

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 9:57pm On Aug 20, 2015
I see an issue: CIC requires that you need at least $10k CAD for room and board and other expenses. I would recommend you put $10k CAD in the room &board category or put at least an additional $2k CAD in the "Other" category. In your app, you only put $8,681CAD, which is less than the CIC requirement.

In a couple hours, I will describe both the Letter of Clarification as well as the spreadsheet. Can't type much now.

Ok fair enough, but this means you have to write something in the "Other" category so that the total amount (outside of tuition) is at least $10k CAD, per CIC requirement.

Tuition: 13,614
Room and board: 8,681(most of d time is best to put a minimum of 10,000 CAD here)..if dats wat sch stated fine..

Other: Blank...(never leave blank...this is where transportation, little procurement and other miscellaneous expenses come in..Even if u have more dan enough funds available and you leave it blank, you are telling them that you sponsor is not ready to support U in this portion even with the enough money available....sometimes expenses encountered in this region are even more than tuition sometimes (HERE TOO, TRY FILL IN A MINIMUM OF 10,000-12000)

Funds available: 52,000....(HERE, when you sum tuition, room and board, and others..make sure u have addition of of 10,000-12000 extra more) for example (13,614+10000+12000+16386)=52000......(Perfectly OK)

PROOFS...(PROPER IN AND OUT FLOW....with balance more than 52000....say (60000cad plus)

I BELIEVE THEY WUD ALWAYS CHECK UR FILLED FORMS FIRST, SO ONCE U DONT FILL THEM WELL, D PROOF SUBMITTED WUDNT EVEN MATTER WEDA DEY R PERFECT OR NOT..

Try work on this. i also stated 52000 as funds available too..dats aw i broke it down.

I agree with @ahyotomiwa that you shouldn't leave "Other" blank. But then you don't need to write more than $5k CAD in that category. Writing too much money in "Other" could cause you new problems if your sponsor's statements aren't extremely large. I would recommend you write something like $4k CAD or $5k CAD in "Other".

I agree that filling out the CIC forms incorrectly will immediately prejudice their view of your application even if you have all the correct documents.

it doesn't have to be 10k exact..CIC gives a margin of 10k for living expenses for a year..This includes food, room, board..In my opinion..Room and Board + Other should add up to atleast 10k. Bt expences vary and the figure he put there is quite reasonable too..

Insufficient fund is what it is..Boost ur sponsor's account..U are going for UG program..If grads are requiring 6m..urs should be double that..12m in ur sponsor's account will do the trick..

Cheers!

@berexio1 I agree that it doesn't have to be exactly $10k. But the total (of Room&Board plus Other) definitely should NOT be lower than $10k according to CIC. @Graviton2 should play it safe and follow CIC's clearly stated requirements on this one. This is one of the issues he should fix.

Yea the duration might be a problem especially if those funds were just deposited as a lump sum into your dad's account. Account balance matters a lot but the inflow over the 6 month period is what matters. That's why you see applicants that have sponsors with over 10 million balance still being denied TRVs...

Also there's a trick which works....You can make an affidavit with your sponsor stating how much he has for you and landed property and all that but the trick is that it has to be signed by a well known law firm with their seal....

I don't think it's advisable to put the total of the bank statement balances as the funds available for study. If possible, there should still be about 30% of the total funds available for study left in the accounts + good inflow and outflow of cash. No one will use their life savings to sponsor him (at least that's how the VO may see it).
thesoj:

Hello
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 10:43pm On Aug 20, 2015
While I would like to think that it is not the sole reason for his refusal, it could be one of the key reasons for his refusal. His sponsor's financials looks pretty good. CIC states that tuition plus $10k CAD is a minimum requirement. The $10k CAD number is not a guideline, it is a minimum requirement. Not meeting that requirement could have soured the VO's disposition towards the application.

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by eetti: 10:43pm On Aug 20, 2015
Lets get something straight.
1) you do not sum anything up to get funds available for your stay .
2) you need at least $10,000 per year to support yourself.
If your school likes let them specify that you need $8,681 for accommodation and feeding. What about books, transport and clothes?
CIC wants you to have $10,000 so you can provide for the 'other' needs.
@graviton you used your own hand to kill yourself you should not have written $52,000 for funds available for your stay.
Do you have $52,000 as pocket money? That section implies the $10,000 and above requirement specified by CIC for all provinces in Canada with the exception of Quebec where the requirement is $12,000 and above.

I sit to be corrected sha...

I mostly agree, unless the sponsor is a parent in which case many prior applicants have put the total bank statement balance as funds available for your stay. But I agree that the safest route is to put the amount stated by the sponsor as the funds available.
