Buhari : Is This Warning By Yoruba Elders Coming To Pass ? by ochejoseph(m): 10:40pm On Aug 27, 2015

I was glancing through twitter  and saw many APC folks who called us names for holding and an opinion  contrary to their change mantra "wailing "
These came to me as a surprise before this Pre-election  warning by Yoruba elders was brought to my attention!

The Yoruba nation risks exposing its people to terrible circumstances and fortunes should they cast their votes for General Mohammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the February 14 election.

This is the belief of elders of the Yoruba nation that have been commenting on the possibility of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the APC, railroading the people to vote for the party’s candidate.

Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting between the leaders of pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, and President Goodluck Jonathan in Akure, Ondo State on Tuesday, elders of the Yoruba nation were unanimous in their decision to support the candidature of President Jonathan because of his belief in the unity and equality of all component groups that make up the country.

They also cite the antecedents of Buhari that has shown him as disrespectful to the culture, history and leadership of the Yoruba nation.

Speaking on the candidature of Buhari, Alhaji Sulaimon Olumolade, a cocoa merchant from Ibadan, Oyo State, who was at the meeting, recalled how Buhari had imprisoned past leaders of the Yoruba nation like Pa Lateef Jakande, former Governor of Lagos State, Chief Adekunle Ajasin of Ondo State and Bisi Onabanjo of Ogun State, even when the panels set up to investigate their tenures in office between 1979 and 1983 did not find them to have corruptly enriched themselves before Buhari overthrew them in a coup.

Olumolade said: “Buhari was wicked to the Yoruba nation. How does he expect us to vote for him when we have not forgotten the treatment he meted out to Pa Ajasin and Chief Onabanjo, two men that he could not find guilty of corruption but whom he still detained for over 20 months? We do not have such a short memory. We do not want someone who disrespects our people as president.”

Another elder, who simply gave his name as Demola Ibiwoye, also said it will be tough for any true Yoruba man to vote for Buhari because his antecedents speak of disrespect to the people of the region.

“Buhari suspended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Alayeluwa Okunnade Sijuade, because he travelled to Israel with the late Emir of Kano. Who do you think would vote for such a person who has no respect for traditional authority? We the Yorubas rever our kings a lot and will vote against a man who has demonstrated such disrespect for our traditional rulers,” Ibiwoye stated.

Meanwhile, Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural body, on Tuesday endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for the February 14 election.

The endorsement was the outcome of the meeting the President had with the leaders of the group in Akure, Ondo State.

The meeting was held at the residence of the Leader of the group, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, and attended by leaders from the South West geopolitical zone of the country.

BishopMagic:
The north is winning and they will continue to win.

When I refer to "north", I don't mean the whole bulk of that geographically region but rather I refer to the power brokers who control that region and by extension ( through their precision politicking) control the whole polity.

While the south stumbles in confusion on trying to define their position and identity, the North remains stoic in its ideology and commitment to have absolute power and rule.

To understand how the north wields so much influence over the polity we must first look at the make up of their larger society i.e. its homogeneity ( tribe and religion), strict social strata and the power and influence of the egalitarian class.

The north defines itself primarily under one highly conservative theoracracy - Islam.

There is always this erroneous assumption that the self defined "progressive and enlightened" south continues to believe which is that the highly conservative northern society is backward as can be deduced from social indices which on first glance, puts the northern society lagging behind the south.

But when we consider, real fundamental impacts and political gains between the conservative north and the south, we will see that since almagation, the northern elite have always dictated the path of the polity.

What use is a progressive society where an ultra conservative elite few teleguides their affairs without the naive arrogant "Trousered natives" even knowing it?

Ultra-conservative societies have always triumphed over decadent way ward liberal societies.

Read up on the:"Rise and Fall of Empires" and you will see first hand that the zenith of most empires in history always coincides when conservative ideology (which goes hand in hand with nationalistic pride) was the fundamental political doctrine.

Established Islamic Theocracies in the 20th century have not witnessed any form of decline because Islam in its ultra-conservative form abhors change even if that change is neccessary to reform the state. This is why western education is considered "haram" because it stirs one away from the conservative ideology of Islam.

This is the secret of northern domination.

So while we in the useless south argue over clear abnormalities like same sex unions, the north continues to perfect her grip among its region by highlighting the moral decadence of the liberal south.

An Igbo engineer can't find a job so he opens a clinic
and puts a sign outside 'GET TREATMENT FOR 20k - IF
NOT CURED GET BACK 100k
A lawyer thinks this is a great opportunity to earn
100k and goes to the clinic...
Lawyer: "I have lost my sense of taste"
Igbo man: "Nurse, bring medicine from box no. 22
and
put 3 drops in patient's mouth"
Lawyer: "Ugh..this is kerosene"
Igbo man: "Congrats, your sense of taste is restored.
Give me 20k"
The annoyed lawyer goes back after a few days to
recover his money...
Lawyer: "I have lost my memory. I cannot remember
anything"
Igbo man: "Nurse, bring medicine from box no. 22
and
put 3 drops in his mouth"
Lawyer (annoyed): "This is kerosene. You gave this to
me last time for restoring my taste"
Igbo man: "Congrats. You got your memory back.
Give
me 20k"
The fuming lawyer pays him, and then comes back a
week later determined to get back 100k.
Lawyer: "My eyesight has become very weak"
Igbo man: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that,
so
take this 100k"
Lawyer (staring at the cash): "But this is 20k, not
100k"
Igbo man: "Congrats, your eyesight is restored. Give
me
20k"
You can't beat an Igbo man.

It is just like when you bath a pig and still believe that he will not go near dirt again. One thing that is synonymous to this Change campaigners is that they are too hopeful. I believe...... Buhari will...... When Buhari will finish......etc.
Ok nah! We are waiting. By the fullness of time, we believe Buhari will......

Lalong need to impose martial law in Barkin ladi area. Jang sued Yar'adua for interfering in the 2008 crisis and won the case, Buhari can only send additional security at the request of the Governor.

#fact...........education down south and the liberal attitude we display has crippled our political strength. as long as the north remains as it is its leaders would continue to dictate the pace of development in the country and its elites would always dominate the top echelon spot of political power
