The Inter Game was a 'must win' group match if Arsenal were to proceed to the knockout stages. That's a high profile big game against the 2nd best team in Italy at the time.

Finishing 2nd, 12 points behind the Barca team that would win a double+ super cup that year does not make Madrid 'poor'. As we know Barcelona would do that to any other team in the world.

Listing Arsenal's biggest rivals during his era,one would argue that games against these opponents can be justifiably classed as 'Big Games'

Overall Arsenal record: 316 starts, 215 goals.

vs Manchester United: Games 13, Goals 8
vs Tottenham Hotspur: Games 12, Goals 5
vs Chelsea: Games 17, Goals 8.
vs Liverpool: Games 15, Goals 8.
Big Game totals: Games 57, Goals 29.

Infact one would argue that due to the nature of the quality of teams he faced in some of his finals (Brazil,Italy,Barca), he was facing the only teams in the world with quality to nullify Henry's goal threat

So I'm not sure how Drogba is that much better than Henry in these 'Big Games'

He got the red card against you guys in the UCL final in Moscow. In the UCL final against Bayern he gave away a penalty, which if Robben had converted, we would probably not have won. He missed a penalty in the 2006 final shootout against Egypt. then failed from the spot during the 2012 final against Zambia.

Is it scoring in a couple of FA Cup finals that makes the Drogba the better 'Big Game' Player?

I don't like the idea of demystifying a Chelsea Legend, but Henry >> Drogba in every aspect .

That Madrid team full of aging stars and Pavon,Gravesen, Carlos Diogo et al was average.
Inter was must win but was group stage.

Henry was the better player but Henry's fecal performances against Gala and Liverpool (single-handedly losing Arsenal the title on both occasions) would stand the test of time.

It is fair to compare both players. Henry also underachieved for France IMO especially when asked to lead the team

The game vs inter that we are shouting there were several must win games in that group for arsenal

I think ashley cole scored a late winner vs dynamo Kiev too in a must win game in that group.
and scoring vs an ageing Madrid?

How many times have Drogba delivered vs Barcelona who were even more fearsome than that ageing Madrid

RooRuudRonSaha, you have an unlikely ally. grin

You should know that people who watched football in the late 90 and early 2000 would know more about Henry and wouldn't rely on mythical stories of Henry's football powers

Henry tagged along with success for club and country minus in league games

My brother na true u talk. And to even think that he was issuing a "come n get me" call to united all summer. A goalkeeper who was removed by his coach cos he doesn't trust his penalty skills shouldn't be a person of interest for united. Hugo Lloris is a viable option should DDG decide to take the bus to Madrid.

LvG wouldn't buy Cillisen, come & get me plea or not. He knows he's not up to scratch just like the whole hullabaloo about Ron Vlaar.
The Nederland team was terribly average & LvG knew what he had to do for them to amount to anything.
Why manage when he can hit the malls & source better quality with enough coin to slice Jupitar's c0ck?

Arjen Robben was the major power behind Netherlands success. Plus a younger Van Persie, Sneidjer, Kuyt.

When I came here some days ago to state that Depay is a mediocre player, one silly scumtwat was telling me that he is young and new to the Premier league, hope you all have seen the nonsense he played today for the Netherlands? undecided

As for that Blind guy, long may his useless defending continue into the Premier League. angry

drogba scored in the three against barcelona 1 0 twice and in a draw in camp nou, he scored against arsenal 15 times, he scored against arsenal featuring henry, civ never qualified for the mundial until the emperor d drogba came calling, he has more goals for his country compared to henry, he was a nightmare to defenders worldwide, he scored a hat trick at the age of 38, he is a beast, a super tank.

Blind was at fault for the second goal n playing in the midfield for the first time in a long time, he was decent, linked up well with Memphis. Memphis on the other hand had a decent performance today ,he was the brightest in that their attack particularly in the first half but kind of faded in the second. Netherlands as a whole played very well but their attack n defense na zero.

I'm not sure we'll be doing any business with Spurs in the near future.

Lloris is more hype than substance by the way.

Netherlands played very well? You must have watched that match with an ''atupa'' tv. You need to see how Dutch people dey vex right now. The only person with a relatively good game today was van Persie. Every other person especially Depay and that Blind guy were absolutely rubbish.

I believe I added that their attack and defense were crappy. They controlled the game.

You are correct, but as one of two strikers. Probably the more withdrawn striker. Not as a lone striker.

The way i understand the system they are playing is that there is no particular lead striker when they play with front two. The two front men in 442 diamond formation have equal opportunity and they work for each other.

They also play 433 formation where Rooney is the main striker in the front three.

While i wouldn't use the phrase "far, far better" to show Henry is better than DD, i'll pick Henry over DD any day anytime!! The decision would be easy for me. DD is a beast, a fùcking legend. The man for the big occasion. The nigga had affinity for slaying the big boys. He didn't score a lot of goals like Cr7 and Messi are doing, but It was like another entity emerges from him whenever he sniffs big clubs around... But Igwe was better.

Henry was like the complete striker. DD bests him only in strength, nodding and turning up for final occasion. Henry made scoring look beautiful like Barca's Tiki-taka. Nigga could score any type of goal from impossible angles. I think only Le Tisser has more beautiful goals than him in EPL with his long rangers. Henry got it all..

Speed.... Check
Accuracy.... Check
Precision.... Check
Freekick.... Check
Air of arrogance.... Check
Goals.... Checcccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkk!!

When it comes to goals, Henry could score anyhow you want it. From the 8-yard box, to outside the box - 20 yards, 30-yards, freekicks. He perfected scoring by cutting in from the flank before unleashing a tornado inside the net. Just name it!! And he while he didn't score much in finals, he was never wanting in big games. Man Utd, Liverfool, Inter, Brazil, Juve, or is it Madrid? I can still remember the way he took the Madrid on a running spree during that memorable night at Bernabeau.

Apart from the goal against ManU that Coog described, one of his best freekick goals he scored was against Man Utd. I can't remember if it's in FA Cup or EPL, but in that match, Silverstre first scored for Man Utd before Henry equalized with a freekick that would make Juninho proud from 30-yards!! I mean, the precision, accuracy, intelligence and the movement with which the ball evaded our players, swerved in the air before dipping into our net, was out of this world!! Goddamnit!! Henry ruled EPL!! Even as a rival fan, i adored Assnal. I use to support Assnal against other teams back then because of Henry and Kanu mostly, even till now i still have a soft spot for them all thanks to Henry's exploit.

Drogba played lesser games at international level when compared to Henry but had more goals.

international games?
do you type with your common sense?

you want to compare the tough european countries thierry henry must play against to qualify for big tournaments to togo, equatorial guinea, comoros island, zimbabwe & namibia that drogba get avalanche of goals against. drogba & henry played the same amount of league games in the EPL and henry scored 70 league goals more. that's the end of the argument. henry would score 200 goals for CIV if he was from abidjan.
