Well, I said it here https://www.nairaland.com/2574585/when-yorubas-travel-dont-interstate and some peeps thought I was fronting. Yoruba culture remains the only prominent one outside the shores of this country and it is the only African culture celebrated worldwide till date. It is a pointer to our unique strength of keeping diplomatic relations. We don't go about creating enemies, rather we establish long standing diplomatic relations with everybody. Anyway here are excerpts from Linda Ikeji. It was featured on her blog today. This is Oyotunji village in South Carolina. The community was founded by a black America named Walter Eugene King who was born on October 5, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Eugene went to the Cass Technical High School and got fascinated by the African culture. He also got exposed to the Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe at the age of 20 which increased his love for the African culture, particularly that of the Yorubas. On August 26, 1959, Eugene became the first African born in America to become fully initiated into the Orisa-Vodun African priesthood by African Cubans in Matanzas, Cuba. This marked the beginning of the spread of Yoruba religion and culture among African Americans. With a few followers, and after dissolution of the Order of Damballah Hwedo, Eugene founded the Sango Temple in New York and incorporated the African Theological Arch Ministry in 1960. The Sango Temple was relocated and renamed the Yoruba Temple the same year. In the fall of 1970, Eugene founded the Yoruba Village of Oyotunji in Beaufort County South Carolina, and began the careful reorganization of the Orisa-Vodu Priesthood along traditional Nigerian lines. He was initiated to the Ifa priesthood by the Oluwa of Ijeun at Abeokuta, Nigeria, in August of 1972. He was named king of Oyotunji community in 1972 with the designation, His Royal Highness Oba (King) Ofuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi I, born Baba Adefunmi. He later died and his son, Adefunmi Adejuyigbe took over as king. Nonybb: But they are kings and Queens ruling over a Kingdom of their own in the white mans land, something that your tribe will never be able to achieve in a thousand years to come Yungwizzzy: In the heirachy of Slaves the Yoruba presided over the others because of their high level of intelligence and sophistication and that is why their Language and cultures survived in those colonial countries up till date. Igbo slaves however were third class slaves. They were used for the most demeaning and dehumanizing tasks because they were very good at manual labour that requires no intelligence just like we have in present day Nigeria, hence they had no opinion and their culture and sense of identity was completely balkanized. 253 Likes 21 Shares |

He even got tribal marks to complete it. My boss loves anything Yoruba. He's always to so happy to introduce me to people, I'm like CHILLLL. He was so excited when he found out that our university not only have African studies, but a separate Yoruba studies (not just Yoruba language) department. When he told me, I was like.....so? Almost all top American universities have Yoruba language courses. Funny guy. People love Yoruba culture, no lie. For mischievous rodents asking how this will impact Yoruba lives in Nigeria: The Yoruba village in South Carolina impacts the lives of Yorubas and non-Yorubas in America who wants to learn more about the Yoruba culture. Their value and mission is not to help ekiti or Ilesan or osogbo people in NIgeria. Their mission is to enrich the lives of people with information. Information is power. truefact: First imbeciIe to spew trash. Wait for me, I dey prepare your medicine. ***modified*** Now your medicine don done. Your brothers are hated and massacred in millions anywhere they are found across the World. I heard it was Igbo people that triggered the xenophobic reactions in South Africa. They were boasting about and telling the natives that they are slaves to white people and that they are the ones that built and developed South Africa for them. They even told the natives that there ladies preferred dating them cos they're more successful...I mean who does that if not the flat headed arrogant criminals and drug pushers. Igbo people are cursed with bile, hate, jealousy and crime. 145 Likes 8 Shares |

Yungwizzzy: They're not slaves, they're prisoners of war. Slaves is a derogatory word used to devalue the lives of black people in America. Unless we shift from that thinking, racism will continue to persist. 23 Likes 4 Shares |
