I agree with his 2nd point. Religion should be compulsory in primary and secondary schools. Islamic religion can be well monitored by the government in so doing instead of the current situation where innocent children are left in the hands of mallams who turn them into fanatics. |

chigoizie7: Actually, he also mentioned the payment of unemployed graduates and even asked the senate to adopt it as a law. I also don't think he specifically mentioned any religion, religious leaders include Babalawos as well as Imams and Pastors, he even advocated that the Senate should have a chaplain and an imam pray with them for the nation at every sitting. I'm not really comfortable with sponsoring religion with state funds, but I agree with him on placing the burden of national morality and Godliness on the shoulders of religious leaders, afterall they are the ones to whom the politicians run to for prayers and who are yet too cowardly to tell them boldly that stealing state resources is bad, evil and outrightly devilish |

Apologies, but for a proposed minister to make this statements when we are trying to cut government recurrent expenditure rather than investment in infrastructure and basic needs, then this man is devoid of rational and intellectual character waiting to be a disaster. Nigerians are more interested in governance now. We are watching. 5 Likes 1 Share |

1. ‘All religious leaders should be paid officers, they should be paid by the government.’1. He is correct.. Pastors and priests are all religious leaders. Babalawos and Dibias and Ezenwaanyis.. They should all be paid by the government. 2. ‘Religion must be made compulsory in our institutions.’2. He is also correct here. Not only Christian and Islamic Religion should be compulsory. Hindu, Judaism, Buddaism are all religions, and should be made compulsory. Ifa, Arusi, Agballa and other forms of indigenous Traditional African religions should be made compulsory too. 3. ‘I believe that government should establish cattle ranches at the LG Level, State Level and FG Level.’3. Na here he failed it woefully.. Why did he consider only cattle ranches.?? He should also include fish-ponds, poultry farms, and other establishments for all other forms of livestock. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

ziccoit: He doesn't make sense to me in most instances! 1. You don't need to pay religious teachers, what you need to do is to regulate them, they should apply for silence and go through screening before they can teach religion. That's why we have regulations in developed nations, you don't just wake up and start teaching religion, in fact part of the requirements for giving you license is that you must have another job which gives you income. His idea o paying religious teachers makes trash sense. 2. Nigeria is a circular nation, which means people believe in multiple religions and are allowed to practice such responsibly. Making any particular religion compulsory negates such principle. However, I agree that religious study should be made compulsory at the elementary education level where a background study of various religions practiced in Nigeria and the world is introduced to students. Students can then choose to study any particular religion at will, not compulsory. Beyond the elementary level, religious study should be optional. 3. Yes, I agree that some states where cattle rearing is predominant should establish grazing lands exclusive to rearing, but State and local governments should be the ones to decide whether cattle rearing should be allowed in their states or not, not the FG 5 Likes 2 Shares |
