Hi all, i know I read somewhere that it's cheaper to book baby's ticket from naij. How do I go about this? I sent someone to British airways office in Lagos and it's like N60k plus. Which comes to about the same thing when I call them over the phone from here. Please help a mama who has not slept more than 2 hrs at a stretch in over a week |

[quote author=shanaka29 post=39330769] Very poor management of my situation here oooo . I had an emergency few days ago and had to use a big part of my money. Now i was hoping my last salary would pass before travel day but that's unlikely now. Don't stress yourself, your question is not a Yes or No kinda answer, cos diff sscenerios have been sighted on this forum, convert part of the money in your account to dollars and make sure you have minimum of 4k, just in case you come across an officer at POE who want you to prove your solvency,go along with your statement and your budget sheet which must be calculated in naira and converted to dollars (excel sheet) to show that d balance in ur account is more than enof for ur trip, A lady arrived at Almighty houston with a few dollars in cash but has much more in her account. Best of luck. |

Agents will still pm and to be honest it's exhausting responding to pms not to talk about coming to check first who they are on the thread The name of the thread is costs and procedures not pm & advertise If not that someone uncovered doctoresperati and shared on this thread, they won't even know there is a thread like this, talk less of advertising on this thread. Same as soulcare, pampered stay and the rest of them. Yes, some have been abused such as mihs and even dr Zimmerman (which I personally uncovered) but it helped a lot of people at that time. Same way someone uncovering dr A is helping decongest dr F But it's all good, it's those behind I feel sorry for. I'm about to birth my last child. Sips tea dey watch like Kermit 26 Likes |

shawlar: ..and they will stop advertising when they see that other hospitals are enjoying free ad here and nobody bothered to click on their own ad. Those who finally started paying to place an ad here were once enjoying free in-thread here, some have IDs here at the beginning, some used members here to promote their hospitals promising them discounts. Its two ways relationship and i'm trying to strike that balance. |

firsttymum: Oh I dont have any naija issued visa card but I know DH always says to always opt for naira Mastercard when opening a new acc. The visa I used is my Santander UK but I used my normal billing address in the uk for that. Glad that worked out for you. Have a lovely Sunday all. |

With these new set of rules; it will be difficult to discover new and better deals. Seems we are heading to the era where only Visa and POE stories can be posted... @ Justwise will be good if you change the heading of the thread 3 since costs and hospital/Doctor reviews can no longer be posted... and update the rules to reflect changes in what can be posted. OR @Justwise Is it possible to state areas where cost, hospital / Doctor reviews shouldnt be posted based on adverts you get instead of a blanket rule? LadyGuinivere: 2 Likes |

Uchetobi; I'm totally with you on this one. This policy nullifies the essence of this thread. I think the admin should find a way around these paid ads without shutting out vital in-thread info. In-thread ads should be discouraged as it isn't fair on the paid ones, but not an innocent vital info by someone just trying to help. I'm sure JW can tell the difference and can sniff out the in-thread ads from afar and either hide or ban them. I disagree with the story of hospitals shutting out Naija patients cos their names were mentioned here. Affordable doctors and hospitals get referrals from everywhere and not just Nairaland. As for agents getting info from here; that also doesn't hold any water as they can easily PM any poster as 'fellow preggers', get any info they want and 'sell' it. This policy will even make it easier for them as the info is not easily circulated anymore and they get to keep it secret and make a fortune. I honestly miss the part 1 of this thread. Every post had a meaning. People researched about hospitals and shared the info freely for others to benefit. Now, all we have is "Dr A, Dr F, Dr Z". Nothing new as any fresh info is hidden. What happens when these well known Drs get tired of Naija patients? Where will the upcoming mamas go? Oh, the hospital/s with paid ads? I rest my case on this matter. 15 Likes |

Congrats to all the new mamas and papas, successful POE and VO stories! Let me share my story (not what I expected but a good one all the same) cos of great people on this thread; ejisky, nwunyebuka and MOST especially firsttymum and lollyberry (who prayed with me for an early appointment date). Lol! Remember the lady that was in desperate need of an earlier appointment date than the one available which was for 14th of October? I'm she. Little did I know that was the day God destined for me to birth my LO. FF to lollyberry helping me with a contact to get an earlier appointment date and my doctor saying I should take it easy and placing me on antihypertensives cos my BP was rising. Prayed about this US waka and decided to forfeit till 2nd missionary in order to avoid stories that really touch both the heart and pocket. Lol! Long story short, I had my LO on the 14th thru an unscheduled CS (on my antenatal day oh) cos of a BP of 210/110 that "skyrocketed" from 150/80 in less than a day! I just bless God for life and good health! I wish all expectant mums (and dads) successfull POEs and safe delivery! Sorry for the long post. Thanks once again @ olokings, firsttymum, lollyberry, ejisky and everyone. 25 Likes |

So the name of the thread should be changed to give birth in the US, Interview nd POE. The essence of this thread is to get guidance on affordable health care. One may not like the advertised hospitals. If there's no competition, monopoly sets in. @JW mbok mae una go back drawing board re-reason this matter. Na we go suffer hardship o! Finally. E be like say na winding down proceedings this thread de. 5 Likes |
