Let me share a little experience with the house here:

DW and I couldn't get an earlier date for our interview and a lot of people saying it was impossible to expedite the process would have discouraged us if we didn't go ahead with it all the same. In fact, we got our emergency interview request approved, and after we were denied the visa, we made out another application, applied for another emergency interview and it was approved again.

If you listen to a lot of people saying it can't be done, that may just be your lot

Nne wait o, before you rest your case, I can bet it was because of NL that MIHS jacked up their prices.
It was because of NL that Dr. Zimmerman stopped taking 9ja patients

It was because of NL that Mobap flew frm $900 doc fees to no intl patients.

I'm with Justwise on this o! Because MIHS pained me bad, and Mobap sef bite me for corner.

The worst thing is that this thread is so open that the people ruining this thing are not actively participating. They come, collect info and run with it. Meanwhile some of us battle day and night, on the phone 24/7 to get info so that our friends here can benefit, only for lurkers to bombard the hospital with a million calls so tey they did meeting and stopped taking intl patients.
A mama here testified on how she was grilled about how she found out about Dr. F

If this trend continues, who knows, there will be no more affordable options. It is simple economics, law of demand and supply.

Phema:
Uchetobi; I'm totally with you on this one. This policy nullifies the essence of this thread. I think the admin should find a way around these paid ads without shutting out vital in-thread info.

In-thread ads should be discouraged as it isn't fair on the paid ones, but not an innocent vital info by someone just trying to help. I'm sure JW can tell the difference and can sniff out the in-thread ads from afar and either hide or ban them.

I disagree with the story of hospitals shutting out Naija patients cos their names were mentioned here. Affordable doctors and hospitals get referrals from everywhere and not just Nairaland. As for agents getting info from here; that also doesn't hold any water as they can easily PM any poster as 'fellow preggers', get any info they want and 'sell' it. This policy will even make it easier for them as the info is not easily circulated anymore and they get to keep it secret and make a fortune.

I honestly miss the part 1 of this thread. Every post had a meaning. People researched about hospitals and shared the info freely for others to benefit. Now, all we have is "Dr A, Dr F, Dr Z". Nothing new as any fresh info is hidden. What happens when these well known Drs get tired of Naija patients? Where will the upcoming mamas go? Oh, the hospital/s with paid ads?

I rest my case on this matter.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by LI(m): 2:14pm On Oct 25, 2015
Also, another example of the capitalistic nature of the world is seen right here a la sharing doctors and hospital info. Unfortunately, there is no right or wrong answer.

The best form of advertisement is word-of-mouth and if people are not able to get any first or secondhand experience but are only subjected to what the advertisers feed them, that depth and breadth which made this thread what it is or was (for people like us) may soon be lost.

Like I said, there is no right or wrong answer, my only hope is that the moderator(s) rethink this whole thing and act appropriately

I totally agree with ur view.

@justwise I really crave ur indulgence to review this new policy perspective.
I perceive as being counter productive on the long run.
If you look at the cumulative effective of the inability to post hospital and doctor's costs n packages this thread will become stale very fast.

You will have fewer visitors being that the veterans ll have no need to revisit, newbies (most of who refuse to read d thread and want veterans whom read n gain new info from posts to school them) , those who visit just look at the advert and waka pass....

Furthermore, the very few who pay to advertise definitely CANNOT handlethe population of intensified pilgrims ergo the likelihood of upward review of their prices in due time.

Furthernow with a reduction in visitors the advert customers will discontinue their patronage given d thread ll become expendable to them.

Trust me when members research and bring new info shared here, the name nairalandteens to go far and wide across the states buh if the put such a caveat on such then u are restriction the brand to just the houston axis, I don't think this is ur plan view floor it ryt?.

If I should give u an idea, rather than concentrating on coy advert only, why don't u look at an annual fee of say #2,000.00.... multiply that by the number by the number of annual visitors on this thread. .. trust that given the value of information resident here 2k will b nothing compared.

In addition to that even the so called trolls will have to pay to come and glean info from here. ...

The coy advertising here kip getting their share of customers. ..while those who wishes to look elsewhere kip enriching NL community.

Don't u think this is a win win situation given the likely outcome of ur new policy regime?

Cos truly chief ur focus is to build membersand visitors because without us these coy won't even look ur way for advert.

My candid perspective though. ..d decision remains urs

You can share via PM.

Thread 1 and 2 are baskets of information regarding hospitals. Very insightful. Anyone that needs info should check the archives.
These agents are disgustingly distasteful and you will feel that way if you were a victim of the mobap and the MIHS effect.

How monkey go de work, baboon de chop?

Ok. Let's talk about this.

Does NL increase the influx of patients to some hospitals? Yes! Is it the sole reason these hospitals get overwhelmed and stop taking international patients? No!

I personally met atleast 3 Naija mamas in MIHS who didn't know anything about NL. Naija mamas in MIHS cannot even be compared to the number of Mexicans and Philipinos in same place. Before vivianobas revealed MIHS, it was well known to other nationals and they even had to jack up their fees from $1,500 to $2,888. Yea, you heard right, 1k5! If vivianobas did not share info about MIHS here, we would not had known and you won't be here talking about missing that package. If she had said "I've info about a cheap hospital in Phoenix, PM for details". We (including agents gan) would have PMed her, gotten info and still bombarded the place.

Then again, if NL was the sole reason for these hospitals to stop taking international patients, Doctoresparati will be the first to stop. That was the very first well known hospital on this thread and the number of Naija mamas that have gone there is nothing close to the ones that have gone to other 'closed' hospitals. And they are even still here advertising.

And heck, even if NL increases these hospitals' patient influx somuch that they stop taking, no biggie. Soldier go, soldier come. Mamas here will make research and new hospitals will be found and shared here.

Ok. Let's even say we stop mentioning names, what will we achieve in the long run? These well known Doctors that people get info through PM will still be bombarded. And when they stop taking patients, where does that leave us? Remember there are no new Dr's contacts shared here anymore. We will now have to resort to agents to pay huge amount for an info we could have joined hands together to get. Then why do we have this thread? It's supposed to be about "Cost and procedure for birthing in the States".

The risk of not sharing info here openly greatly outweighs that of sharing. Don't worry, we all will begin to see that in no distant time. And if you think the Mods/admin are doing this for our benefit, think again. They just want to make money through ads. Even JW knows this (as he has always been an anti-agent/PM mod), but it does seem like his hands are tied and I understand his plight stance.

My broda, I totally understand your point, infact Phema was spot on too, but the lurkers and agents have done more damage than good o!
If MayMaj's NJ info was left out in the open, you cannot envisage the traffic that will head that way, infact, the hosp will be shocked.

Next thing, they may increase their fees just before she is due. If it's you how will you feel?
It's just my opinion though.

As per PM. Leave that thing.
I met my best friends today via PM on NL. When I was in chicago my cousin will ask where did u meet this person, I will say NL, where did you meet that person, NL. She began to think I was going Loco. How can you be so close to people you met online!!!
I mean awon ore mi atata, they are closer to me than sisters or brothers.

So PM worked for me, gave me a solid support system while we cracked open chicago.

Infact, my bestie today PMed me when she was 11wks preg and I was 7 weeks preg on this chicago waka. I see us raising our grandkids together (No homo grin)

If am not comfy about the PMer, I ignore, most times I try as much as possible to be helpful.

They are cashing out big time.
The other agents that are posing to be preggies, they should go and buy advert like doctoresparati.
When MIHS was in their haydays, she did advert too.

I know many mamas here that have bypassed them and gotten better deals in the same hospital near Mexican border! Hehehehe
