menabadoo: Hope u know lagos is when u get to cms idumota area. As in eko. Dts where lagos is. When nxt ur driving, check d signboard on d bridges, ull see an arrow showing ur driving into lagos. The whole mainland of lagos state is not eko. Hope u know those days, there were no bridges and u got to d island by canoe. Ikorodu is an egba town. Epe is a town, isolo is a town, idimu is a town. Every area u find an oba in lagos was a village wt a king. Igbobi was a kolanut farm, alausa was a walnut farm. Dt whole area is egba territory. On d other side is ijebu territory. The island itself was where d binis created a war camp. And its only d area served by d oba of lagos around idu gangan (or whatever his palace is called. And dt throne reverted bk to d indigenes when d white men advised them to stop paying tributes to d oba of bini). The population of lagos (d island) was just about 27,000 pple when d portuguese came. And there were other little villages there as well like d iru and elegushi. The british went on a land grabbing spree and then made d oba of lagos d head of all d obas on d island. And d oyo empire were fighting wars wt d egbas, ijaiyes, ekitis because of d slave trade. Merchants like efunroye tinubu took advantage & stole captives to d island to sell as slaves. Dt whole market in cms area developed out of d brutal slavetrade in d west. Even d whites named a square after her (wicked woman). In the old western region, d whole mainland of lagos was part of western region and ruled from ibadan. The federal govt was d island only. FACT. If lagos is not yorubaland, name an area dt doesnt have a yoruba name? Lagos developed due to d slave trade & seaways. The british moved d capital there and started developing it as a capital (it wasnt wt oil money btw). 90% of lagos was yorubas only. After d british left d govt kept developing it. More pple moved in from all over nigeria because of d secretariats & govt jobs. All nigerians live in lagos & contribute to its wealth. But we have lagos indigenes, we have lagos culture and lagos traditions. It is not a no mans land created from nothing. Dts an insult to pples forefathers. 8 Likes 1 Share |

superstar1: Mugu, it was a Nigeria Army coup d'etat executed by amateurs from all tribes in Nigeria. But by then, Igbos were more in number of officers in Nigerian Armed forces, and as to be expected, were more in number among the coupists. But take note that the slaughtering of people of former southeast region in the north of Nigeria predated the 1966 military coup. And note also that since the 1966 coup, other military coup d'etats with predominantly Tivs have been carried out with killings of none Tivs. Did Nigeria carry out pogrom against the Tivs, as north of Nigeria carried out pogrom against the Igbo over the 1966 coup? 1 Like |

Ikorodu is Ijebu not Egba and The Western region started at Idi oro The FCT was known as the Lagos Municipal authority and had a Minister one of whom was Yar'adua's father. It includes Lagos Island, Ikoyi,Victoria Island ,Apapa Surulere and Yaba hence University of Lagos was in Lagos. Mushin Ikeja Ikorodu Badagry etc were in the Western Region 1 Like |

Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has listed
Nigeria’s 10 highest revenue receiving states based
on the federal allocations in 2013.
The states, according to her, earn more than the
annual budgets of some neighboring countries.
The allocations are as follows:
Akwa Ibom N260 billion,
Rivers N230 billion,
Delta State N209 billion,
Bayelsa N173 billion,
Lagos N168 billion,
Kano N140 billion,
Katsina N103 billion,
Oyo N100 billion,
Kaduna N 97 billion
Borno N94 billion.
Okonjo-Iweala gave the breakdown of the allocations
on Sunday at Babcock University’s 12th Convocation
at which she delivered a lecture with the theme:
‘Transforming Nigeria economy: Opportunities and
Challenges’ |
