State IGR contest today data and presentation from nbs, I have always been of the opinion that Enugu is one of the most developed city in the South East and South South Region,if not the most developed, this again proves that the abundance of natural resource or heavy allocations from the federal government is not enough to kick start the ground, states like Akwa Ibom get 3times more than what Enugu gets get federal Gov,but take a visit to both states and see which looks richer, comparing adult literacy, access to basic amenities, hospitable and general workabilty of the city. Enugu bu Obodo Oyibo!

Hmmmmmmm, Delta state alone is almost equal to the entire SE. THE MOST IMPORTANT STATES IN NIGERIA ARE LAGOS, RIVERS, DELTA AND OTHERS.

Is Kwara not in the North ? Which state in your region performed better than Kwara?

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not one of these people who says terrible things about my Arewa brothers and sisters. I just think our country can be even greater if we would better develop the North.

Enugu did better than Kwara but that was never my point. This isn't a competition. WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM! I'm praying for the day every state generates money like Lagos. The South is being underdeveloped just like the North which alludes to your point of Kwara doing better fiscally than most states.

When I saw the amount of mineral wealth in the North and how it dwarfed the south by comparison I got infuriated at the lack of mineral exploration we do. My people are in the North suffering for no reason. Our country should be paradise but our elected officials are lazy and corrupt. I'm glad to see Kwara doing well. Imagine how much better the state will be doing by the time we begin fully utilizing our blessed land.

ugnmezi:

they are in abuja sharing oil money.

Exactly. Agric and minerals can completely transform our country's economy. People forget it was the agric money that allowed us to explore for petro. If we get back to our bread and butter we can't be stopped.

xakakes:
One thing you need to know here is that Most multinationals that have their head offices in Lagos pays their royalty directly to the lagos state Govt. And other revenues that goes to the Lagos state Govt due to its highly commercialised status

Ohhhhhh! Thank you for clearing that up! That makes too much sense. I wouldn't have put two and two together like that but that explains it. I know traders and other small businesses were pumping out there but that number was too big to ignore. The multinational taxation more than covers the leap in revenue in comparison to other states. I saw that giant dot on the map and jumped back like daaayyyyum! Good looking out fam.

Stup!d Nigeria politicians and military refuse to let igbos go. Why forcing them to remain in Nigeria? THIS PEOPLE HAVE NO ECONOMIC OR POLITICAL RELEVANCE FOR NIGERIA EXCEPT THEMSELVES, SO WHAT R THEY DOING?.

What is going on in the North? All that arable land just sitting? All those minerals just sitting in the ground? Questions need to be asked because these past administrations have been paymasters collected money for nothing. I never knew just how big Lagos was doing it. I see why Fashola has a head of gray hair after 8 years. That's a ot to manage.

They fold their hand wait for oil money, that was why buhari wanted to oil minister not defence minister.

These governors have to step it up for us as a country.

Nah I can't rock with you on that one. I think Oga in the Villa is just making sure our most valuable resource isn't getting messed off like before. He even has experience in the field. I can put my trust in his integrity. I had my suspicions but seeing some of the turnaround has quelled most if not all of my doubts. Kachikwu is another reason why I trust the sector's new regime. Their no nonsense and transparent approach will make sure our petro development is optimal.

It's a big shame that most governors are not thinking with their brain. I wonder how many states will survive without monthly allocation from the center. Only Lagos, Rivers and Delta can realistically stand on their own without the money from Abuja.

OP, abundance of natural resources and/or heavy allocations from the center should make many of these states paradise on earth already. Just that most of the administrators have been wicked, lazy and generally unfit to be leaders.
sometimes people just write for writing sake. Tell me where the centre get its own revenue. Imaging if every state manages what comes from their state. State like Akwa Ibom would become Dubai.

You said only Lagos, Rivers and Delta can survive without Federal allocation, funny you. How many persons are being fed by Lagos? Do you think Lagos can survive without federal allocation? If you say yes... Check how many states federal government gave bailout loan few weeks ago... Tell me what you think.

Delta state with all that money is grossly under-developed. Nothing to show for all that money. No good roads, no drainage, no factories providing jobs, over crowded schools, very very dirty state.

Well if you've been to the north, you'll know there is arable land, and other natural resources.
But the painful part about it is, their people don't want to work or learn how to do anything(aside cattle rearing, they're experts at that).

I see the foot prints of the igbo merchants in Lagos, Kano and Kaduna. Let's even look at Ondo which is heated with south-western nepotism at the moment and fiery hate for the igbos.

I would kindly suggest we have a rethink if we must survive this union called Nigeria. Someone rightly noted the poor spate of the Northern contribution to our purse and yet they yearn for a centralised government even with the endowment of solid minerals. Is the case to deplete the south and enrich the North?

I swear Gowon knew exactly what would become of the contraption, Nigeria if they had let go, his current statement "With Biafra, it is finished!" would not have revealed any better why he exerted extreme efforts to destroy the Biafran struggle.

I think at this point the Nigerian agenda should be pacifying the igbos to remain in Nigeria through whatever means.
stop trying to twist history. Aguiyi Ironsi was the one who introduced a Unitary System of Government, the Northerners were too afraid to try that until that guy showed it could be done. So blame it all on him.

If their figures are die to y1bos, are the y1bos in SE aliens? Logically, every state in SE should have been realising 500bn per annum.

Y1bos and their mouthful boast of helping others to develop something, while theirs lies underdeveloped.
