sanbells: My dear, Aba pass Aba. I know the ones you're talking about, but there is this other set you would see...whether ready made/on order_ you would marvel. Some of those shoes sold in Lag are from Aba, a friend of mine runs a boutique in PH, she said her supplies come from Lag. I went to Ariaria last week and saw same designs in wholesale quantities. Just maybe...her supplier buys from Aba not Lagos. I'm not really into Aba shoes, but I can die for their wears and shirts. Alllll my cooperate shirts are sewn! 6 Likes 1 Share |

I think this is very step and those jobless guys crying for Biafra Republic should be employed and they will have less time for unprofitable and will never happen realization of their agitation but with this shoe making , federal government could extend helping hands to them. 1 Like 1 Share |

Tribalism and fear of Igbo domination won't let the Federal Govt invest on these young talented men. Investors all the way frm brazil , yet the Nigerian govt would rather apt at over-taxing them rather than investing on them. Tribalism is the problem of Nigeria, and the only solution is break up , so each group of pple can sought their path and achieve their peak potential. The entity Nigeria is all about oil and nothing more. Resourceful Talents that can enrich and give relevance to a country is wasting in Nigeria. That is what you get in a country were several nations are jam park together and the only thing that bind them together is oil . One Nigeria is doom 4 Likes |

Nike, adidas and co are worth more than all of Nigeria's oil wells. The potential revenue from a home-grown shoes and cloth industry is more profitable, viable and has a greater employment generation ability than selling potentially useless crude oil. Gas even has a more profitable future than crude. And thank God, igboland has abundant gas and coal too. 1 Like |

If only there can be enabling environment for our local artisans, I see no reasons why the likes of Zara, Topshop, Only, Debenhams or Primarks etc will be operating from Asia and South America. Our products are more durable with better quality and creative designs. The only drawbacks are high cost of production (electricity) and lack of modern equipment. Take this away, I see no reason we should be eating "ponmo" and exporting hides & skin in exchange for Italian shoes. With adequate support in place even high end fashion outfits (the Guccis and Hilfigers of this world) will make Aba their base. 1 Like |
