What I have come to understand is that there are two Babylons, the one that was destroyed by the Persians, and the second Babylon that will be destroyed by YAH Himself, this I guess is the reason some of the prophecies look confusing, in one place it talks about using people, in another place it talks about YAH Himself doing the destruction.

The Babylon of our time will be destroyed by YAH Himself, the ancient prophets were only projecting into the future when they prophesied man mediated destruction for the Babylon of their time, and YAH mediated destruction of the Babylon of our own time.

See how the Medes(and persians) destroyed the Babylon of their time:
