Aareonakakanfo: Good work. Odua Investments had one of the best textile mills known as Odua Textile at the border between Ikere-Ekiti and Ado-Ekiti, in those days. I don't think the textile mill is still functional, anymore. But I have been impressed by the efforts of the South-West governors to keep the Odua Investment Group functional for so many years. Their slogan has always been "sustaining the heritage of the people." It used to be run by govt appointees in the past, but about a decade ago, the governors decided to run it as 'an independent private commercial venture by independent Board of Directors comprising seasoned professionals with vast experience in business and human resources management.' They brought in skilled technocrats to manage the corporation, and invited enterprising Yoruba industrialists such as the late Otunba Jobi-Fele of Jobitex, Chief Ade-Ojo of Toyota etc., to serve as Chairmen and board members. The fortunes of Odua Group were revived, and today its' revenue is about =N=4.29 billion, out of which =N=150 million was paid as dividends to its shareholders. 1 Like |
