The file is too heavy but nazeeru's Bakwai Bakwai is a song that recently caught my attention.

Niger Republic

I thought their dialect would be closer to sakkwatanci but it's not. I understood everything they said perfectly.

Love the message it sends too.

It is all about relevant location my brother. Niger has as many dialects as Nigeria in regards to Hausa dialects smiley

Woooooow! The man is really talented. So far most of his songs I've heard are amazing. Especially the ones he uses our "kalangu". Only recently started listening to these songs but soon I'm going to get rid of all the western garbage in my phone.

Loool! Yeah but some of them tend to abandon our traditional musical instruments for other "modern" instruments and annoying autotune.

When I say western garbage I'm referring to the western songs I used to listen to.

Yah that's why I typically prefer Hausa music from Niger Republic to be honest. It's not only with Hausa music, it's our entire country doing this Westernised and Bollywood bullcrap. Fulanis are doing it too in Cameroon and Nigeria. That's why I listen to Fulani music from Niger Republic, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, etc. more because the Fulani music from those countries is more pure, they use more hoddu (Kontigi), and mbaggu (kalangu), in addition to the nyanyeeru (goge/goje). cheesy

I think Nigerians especially the younger generation (not me though) from the ages of 18 - 34 don't care much about tradition. They only care about what the west is doing. I think it's ridiculous and that people should never forget their culture.

Nothing more annoying than the Bollywood freak show. Thanks for the tips, although I'm not very familiar with Fulbe music though, maybe you can help? Does shata count? Cause from what I've read+his surname, he's of your stock yeah?

Yeah! I used to be that one but once you realise what's happening it's actually quite frightening! A few decades from now our culture and tradition might be facing extinction! We need serious reformation, we need to appreciate the beauty of our culture instead of looking for it in other cultures. I doubt the youths will listen though, it's really frustrating that they've been brain washed into thinking they are of inferior culture.

Yah I believe Mamman Shata's real surname is Yaro. Yaro is a Fulani surname. I think it was his father was a Pullo and His mother is Hausawa. I don't know if he speaks Fulfulde though.

Here is what I mean typical of Nigerian/Cameroonian Fulani music:

Where as in Niger and Senegal even (even though I'm not a 100% fan of Senegalese Fulani music, I prefer other countries):
