Isaac Adewole (Osun) Minister of Health

Lai Mohammed – (Kwara) Minister of Information

Kemi Adeosun – (Ogun) Minister of Finance

Babatunde Fashola -(Lagos) Minister of Power, Works and Housing

Kayode Fayemi- (Ekiti) Minister of Solid Minerals

We are not doing badly.

I hope Fashola will work towards generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in each state. The current arrangement is not working.

FG must scrap the damn privatization and let each state be in control of their destiny.

There are lot of companies who are ready to invest into electricity. I bet, everybody will want to buy Lagos' slot. 21million people is a huge market. I would like to buy that of Osun shaa cheesy cheesy
I am praying that each region is given its freedom to run things by itself so that the SW can use the renewable energy kind of tech to give us steady and affordable electricity. The renewable energy thingy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale. These resources are sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy replaces conventional fuels in four distinct areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, motor fuels, and rural (off-grid) energy services...

Federal government to build 150 housing units in ondo
As part of efforts in making houses avoidable for Nigerians, the Federal Government has commenced the construction of 150 units of two and three-bedroom flats in Akure, the Ondo State capital. The project, which is being handled by Meadville Building and Construction Company, is expected to be completed within the next three months. Speaking during the inauguration of the programme, the State Controller of the Federal Mortgage Bank, Mrs. Mojisola Gbadebo, advised interested members of the public to key into the National Housing Fund Scheme. Gbadebo said this would enable them to benefit in the acquisition of the buildings as soon as they are completed. She further explained that the project was being sponsored by the bank in collaboration with the Federal Housing Authority Homes under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Lands and Housing. According to her, a prospective buyer who must be a contributor to the housing fund stands the chance of accessing the loan from the bank with six per cent interest rate with 30 years repayment period. She noted that the amount to charge the contributor depends on his or her income and age, adding that loan is not exclusively for salary earners but all income earners from the age of 18 years.

I do hope this project would be executed using the red earth-compressed traditional method of building, we spoke about in the earlier pages.

And they should engage good architects that would provide imaginative and affordable designs, not the lacklustre, bland design that characterises govt-built estates all over Nigeria.

They could also use the clay bricks manufactured at Ire in Ondo State to build these houses.

There are two different types of brick available in Nigeria. The first type is the compressed laterite brick, which is manufactured by pressure on a type of red soil found in abundance across 80 percent of Nigeria. Laterite bricks may be produced on a small scale, or even on-site, and require very little energy input in a nation where shortage of industrial energy is a major concern. The second type of brick is the baked clay brick, which is kiln-fired and requires greater investment and energy input.

To the homeowner, however, the cost difference between brick and block is substantial. It costs between 30 percent and 47 percent LESS to build with compressed laterite bricks than with blocks, according to a 2012 study from scholars at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State. Building with baked clay bricks costs 19 percent less, per square meter, than building with concrete blocks. This study included not only the cost of the materials, but also mortar and labour, in the calculation. Considering that structural elements constitute about 50 percent of the material cost of a new home, using bricks instead of blocks to construct the walls results in significant overall cost savings to the home buyer.

Furthermore, bricks in Nigeria are made from indigenous materials which support the local economy all the way up the supply chain; concrete blocks use cement as the major cost input, a material that is customarily expensive in Nigeria by world standards and of which a large proportion is imported, mainly from China.

Despite all of these advantages – delivering technical durability, superior appearance, and better cost – brick is used in only about 10 percent of housing construction in Nigeria. Bricks provide serious room for market expansion, and the dearth of brick homes is a dilemma. Let us examine some of the market myths surrounding bricks.

Not really feeling Fayemi as solid minerals minister. That guy should be somewhere in international relations, an ambassador somewhere, foreign affairs, or an adviser in the military.

And I've got mixed feelings about throwing Fashola into the bottomless pit of the ministry for power. The man is being groomed to rule Nigeria and that ministry can ruin him. Does he have what it takes to do it? - I don't know. Scary.

This flag design is a nice concept except for few things.

The colors. In Yoruba spirituality all colors are used but three stand out for cosmic representation and should be adopted as our national colors, instead of the four bands here -
Osun, Red
Efun, White
Aro, Blue

Cowries. Whats the significance of the seven, why not sixteen?

Aareonakakanfo, Laudate, quimicababes, mayoroflagos, superstar1, 9jacrip, oduatstates, ileke/ilekehd, Aareonakakanfo, ritchiee, and everyone else who wants to contribute.

I want to us discuss the dynamics of Nigerian politics under the current government and what Yorubas stand to gain. I'll use excerpts from quimicababes' post as the preamble.

Now let's analyse the most important portfolios under Buhari's government.

- President: Northerner (Buhari)
- Senate President: Northerner.
- Speaker of the House: Northerner.
- Judiciary: Northerner.
- Chief of Army Staff: Northerner (this is the most important portfolio in the Nigerian armed forces cos of the structure and whoever heads the army controls the armed forces cos the Nigerian army is the only section within the Nigerian military that's potent. The Chief of Defence is just a mere appendage).
- Head of Customs: Northerner.
- Head of the Ports: Northerner.
- Petroleum Minister: Buhari should head this one - another Northerner.

The remaining important portfolios for decision making which are yet to be given out are:

- Finance
- Aviation
- Attorney General.

I think Northerners would take at least two out of the three. Mostly likely: Attorney General and Aviation.

So what's the implication of this hegemony on the Yorubas and how can we win the fight for regional-government/true-federalism when Northerners control all the important portfolio required to implement it?

P.S: please, post with a clear mind.

Check out the sentence in bold. cool
