I read that the laws were not there in the 70s. The UK already had a system before Eufa brought their laws. The government of the entire UK economy was more important than football. It's just like having a free trade and free movement in West Africa.

It's like saying you as a club cannot discriminate against players from Wales, Ireland and Scotland. And that's Queen's law. So your hands are tied.

Anyway, English team were simply saying, their govt law didn't restrict players/workers from anywhere in UK because of common Labour law (perhaps). Their FA probably were unable to implement the Eufa restriction because of a government law. So the clubs were torn in the fight between their govt and Eufa.

Remove those years English teams had to reshuffle their team when they went to Europe. We are looking at minimum of 7 years here because even after the restriction was lifted in 1995, the clubs couldn't have changed their teams in just a year.
