I blame both our own Niger deltans and also all successive governments...It is a blame we all have to carry..Our collective foolishness is why these other ports aren't working... Tribalism Militancy Greed All three is why only the lagos seaport is working..well...For now I port for true federalism the only true way for our leaders to think and independently do things to generate jobs and revenue... 1 Like |

dami212: Lol, you are silly. Wiser individuals know the truth for what it is ; the higher spate of kidnappings, oil pipeline vandalism and militancy, why then did all the multinationals move their administrative offices to Lagos, and base their staff thore, flying them to the oil installations when required. The ND is not safe by a long comparison to the SW. Blame the Yoruba all you want, the fact remains the Yoruba have secured their society to a higher standard than others. As is the SE are making their region unfavourable for capital investment because of the Biafra agitations, any investors need to be bold to put their money there, and that's why the governors are putting up a strong faces against the Biafra protests which is raining on their parade. Same as the northeast which has insurgency, why would I put my money in the path of danger. Those ships have insurance that covers their trading routes , and the captains can be sued for losses incurred due to negligence. Keep screaming Yoruba on NL while you and your brethren render your environs unattractive, it's a bloody competition for capital, there is so much money and each governor has to prove they are well suited to receive it so far, Ogun state and Lagos are doing great jobs of exploiting their geographical , societal advantages, elrufai seems determined to correct the ills of his State. do something while the time is right 5 Likes |

Living4christ: I've never in any of my write ups advocated for use of only Lagos sea port or even insinuated that the current condition is ideal or the only option. I've only stating the facts that have bedevilled the onne sea port in particular. Lagos has town functional ports and is adding a third as part of it's free trade zone. That is a state with a plan into the future, from Tinubu to BRF to Ambode and whomever comes after him they have a clear picture if the future they want to realise. |

chiefobdk: You must be a joker in this same Nigeria we currently you are taking of reliability, let's just close that conversation quickly. I'm am engineer by profession and trust me I was sad with the technical deployments in many parts if Nigeria. Concerning safety, the wise man says "the first step in solving a problem is acknowledging it's constituents and it's existence" you can keep lying to yourselves that there is no kidnappings in SE and SS , as of today a new branch of militants are attacking pipelines all the way down the Ondo axis and into lower Lagos , when the investors send a team to build a risk report they'll duly find the security issues and fail the area as inappropriate for investment or of extreme risk. You might want to check the US consulate, and UK foreign office situation report on ND and SE, it is currently marked as not advisable for travel. 3 Likes |

Yanks101: Lagos had an economic advantage no doubt, but they have made some great efforts in the last several decades to ensure that advantage is not lost. It is a competition between states and not a charity case The real.MVP is however Ogin state who have decided to reap the rewards of proximity to Lagos as a fat growing industrial complex 1 Like |

Re: Onne Sea Port by asha80(m): 11:51am On Jan 19, 2016 |
sweetgala:not sure about the level playing ground for that 'competition'...moreover most of the rds in those ogun industrial axis in agbara and ibafo are in decrepit condition so I wonder the real effort of the ogun govt here and it seems more like a spill over effect of congested Lagos and companies looking for cheaper and more expansive lands to locate their industries to feed the congested lagos...more like the situation of Onitsha commerce spilling over to asaba despite the hopelessness of delta governments over the yrs 1 Like |

Living4christ: Guy, you are asking me what made it insecure? Are you a Nigerian? Or have you been residing in outer space? Haven't you heard of the atrocities being committed by the Niger-Delta militants? They have refused to desist, despite all the millions pumped into the amnesty programmes and surveillance contracts that GEJ gave to try & rehabilitate them. Just recently, a gas pipeline was blown up in Escravos area. And not only that, kidnappers have also joined militants in raising the insecurity in the area. If you know how to address the insecurity, go over there and address it and stop yarning crap on this thread. You need to educate yourself and stop reasoning like a kid! 1 Like |

sweetgala: You are a hypocrite. If you consider the report a gospel truth why did you not post the screenshot of this part from US State you quoted U.S. citizen was kidnapped in Kogi state. In May 2015, two U.S. citizens were kidnapped in Ondo and Anambra states in separate incidents. Why remove Ondo and Lagos State even Abuja wasn't left out. We are talking about Lagos and Onne ports |

IsraeliAIRFORCE: Did I ever exclude that other parts of Nigeria are absolute safe zones. The bone of contention is the safety of a particular area. And it was contested, the fact kidnappings happened in kogi has or Ondo with false foes not remove the reality of insecurity in the ND and SE Between both of us without lying through your teeth, which of the areas would you readily associate with insecurity and brigandage 2 Likes |

Re: Onne Sea Port by Super1Star: 10:06pm On Jan 19, 2016 |
Living4christ: Shows us the FG's policy that states all goods must be cleared in Lagos. I do not understand why conducting a little research on the issue is your problem. What made the beer parlour opinion of the OP to be the correct FG's policy? our cases are clearly of the blind leading the blind. 2 Likes |
