NFF should simply sack Oliseh and appoint Siasia and SE coach and appoint Amunike as U-23 coach. Oliseh is an empty vessel that makes the loudest noise. 1 Like |

zuchyblink:Don't be in a haste to suggest Sunday Oliseh's. Remember several persons made such suggestions to the previous Coaches who also failed. Coach Sunday Oliseh needs the right working atmsphere to strive. Unfortunately, the one he finds himself in, is not helping matters. He can still take us there with patience. |

Fenerbahce Chairman: €1m Emenike To West Ham Loan Deal Almost Done Fenerbahce chairman Aziz Yildirim has given a strong hint that Emmanuel Emenike’s loan move to West Ham will soon be sealed. Yildirim has confirmed ex-Super Eagles striker Emenike is close to joining the Hammers after a loan fee was agreed. West Ham boss Bilic had described progress as “complicated” this week but it now looks like the issue has been resolved. “We’re about to loan [Emenike] to West Ham United,” The Mirror quotes Yildirim as saying on Saturday. “They will give €1million to us for this agreement and they will have the option to purchase him for €11m. But the deal hasn’t been completed yet.” Emenike has scored seven goals in 11 games on loan at UAE side Al Ain this season, a loan that had caused those complications in the deal. West Ham are desperate for some strikers with Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho injured and Mauro Zarate off to Fiorentina. Ighalo Eyes FA Cup Success, Won’t Underrate Forest By Johnny Edward: Watford striker Odion Ighalo says Championship side Nottingham Forest will not be underrated when they play at the City Ground in Saturday’s FA Cup fifth round tie. Dougie Freedman’s side sit 11th in the Championship and are unbeaten for over two months but have drawn seven of their last ten league games and Ighalo who may be rested by coach Quique Sanchez Flores for the game spoke witn Watford’s Hornets PlayerHD. “We want to give our best in every tournament we play in. In the PL we have 32 points and need eight more to be guaranteed safety in the league for next season,” he said. “For me we value the FA Cup just as we do with the league. Some teams don’t win the league but end up with winning the FA Cup as the only silverware they have which for us will be a good one.” The former Udinese star man also hopes he club can rewrite their FA Cup history of 30 years ago by making it to the final of the competition. Ighalo has scored 14 goals in the league for the Hornets who are 10th on the log. Chikatara, Okoro In 7 CHAN Eagles Good Enough For Main Squad Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has tipped seven or eight members of his squad to the African Nations Championship to graduate to the A squad following impressive individual performances, despite the collective failure. Completesportsnigeria.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU, who is in Kigali covering CHAN, names his own seven Home Eagles for the main squad… Ikechukwu Ezenwa The Sunshine Stars goalkeeper battled stiff competition from Olufemi Thomas and Okiemute Odah to emerge as the side’s first choice goalkeeper. The former junior international proved his class in the Home Eagles’ three games in the competition. He certainly looks good to continue his role as assistant to Carl Ikeme in the main Super Eagles side. Kalu Orji A versatile defender who can play either as a right-back or centre-back. The Rangers International of Enugu star who nearly missed the competition due to illness came in as a substitute in Nigeria’s first two games in the competition and showed he can be relied on in the future. He helped stabilised the Eagles’ defence after coming on for the fumbling Jamiu Alimi in Nigeria’s first game against Niger and did the same against Tunisia. It was a surprise that he didn’t get to start the last game against Guinea, the only game the Eagles lost in the competition. Austin Obaroakpo The Abia Warriors centre-back is one of Sunday Oliseh’s favourite players and looked to have further boosted his chances of keeping his place in the team with an above average showing at the African Nations Championship. Ifeanyi Matthew The highly-rated midfielder all things being equal will be in Nigeria’s squad for the AfricaCup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Egypt in March. The El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri man was one of the key performers for the home-based Super Eagles in Rwanda and he is highly regarded by the coaching crew. The disappointing display of Paul Onobi may have also increased Matthew’s chances of earning a spot in the main Super Eagles squad. Chisom Chikatara The darling of the local fans here in Kigali ‘Chakatara’, as they pronounce his name, scored four goals for the Eagles in their ill-fated campaign in Rwanda. Though Nigeria is blessed with a number of attacking talents, he has done enough to show he can compete at the highest level. Osas Okoro Another key performer for the Home Eagles in Rwanda. He won the man of the match honour in the Eagles’ second game against Tunisia and did enough to justify the coach’s faith in him. He has surely done enough to get a berth in the AFCON qualifiers. Usman Muhammed One of the most talented members of the squad. The FC Taraba midfielder is highly rated by coach of the side Sunday Oliseh. He is certain to get more opportunities to impress in future. ‘His ability is in question’ West Ham warned about incoming signing’s ‘problem’ Pete Evans Emmanuel Emenike of Nigeria (Photo by Jeff Gross/Getty Images) Emmanuel Emenike has not been in good form for years and his first touch has ‘always been his problem’ according to a former Nigerian international. The striker looks set to agreed a loan deal until the end of the season with Slaven Bilic’s West Ham and could make his debut as soon as Tuesday night’s clash with Aston Villa. The 28-year-old will provide Bilic with another option upfront with Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho having been sidelined in recent weeks. But fellow Nigerian Akpoborie told the BBC that Emenike, who was previously on loan from Fenerbahce to Al Ain, has not been at his best for years. He also believes the striker’s limited skill set means he is unlikely to thrive in the Premier League. “Over the last two or three years he hasn’t been in good form for his club and country”, he said. “To be a striker in the top flight in England you need to have a good first touch and that has always been his problem. “His ability is in question.” http://www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/west-ham/his_ability_is_in_question_west_ham_warned_about_incoming_signing_s_problem_1_4399808 |

CSKA Moscow reject Leicester's new bid Musa Biyi Akangbe By: Imhons Erons The Russian champions have rejected the English Premier League leader's improved £18.7m bid for the Nigerian skipper. Leicester FC have had a new bid of $26.5m (£18.7) which was an improvement on the original offer of $21.6m (£15.1m) turned down by CSKA Moscow for Ahmed Musa. The Russian club are believed to be holding out for nothing less than £20m for their prized asset. The Nigeria captain has also attracted the attention of other top Premier League teams and has a $32.5m (£22.8m) buyout clause in his contract. His current deal with CSKA Moscow runs until 2019. Musa, who made his international debut against Madagascar in September 2010, is only just 23 but has already scored twice at the World Cup. Ahmed Musa had a fantastic outing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He scored Nigeria's fastest-ever goal at a World Cup - netting after four minutes - before becoming their first player to score twice in one game at the tournament. Contrary to reports circulating late on Friday however, CSKA Moscow have not received an offer from Man Utd for the Nigeria international. Leicester may however have moved quickly to Plan B as the Foxes already have a bid for Chelsea's Loic Remy accepted. http://www.soccernet.com.ng/2016/01/cska-moscow-reject-leicesters-new-bid.html |

Cuper decides on Egypt’s line up to face Nigeria By Mahmoud Khaled Photo: Nationalturk.com Egypt National Team coach Hector Cuper revealed that he had already set the Egypt line up to play against Nigeria next March after this camp in Aswan. Egypt played two friendlies in the Aswan camp this week, losing the first game against Jordan 1-0 before beating Libya 2-0 in the second game for their preparations for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria. Egyptian Football Association “EFA” official website quoted Cuper’s comments after the Libya match as he described the camp as very beneficial. “We gained a lot from the camp. We played two games and managed to know everything about the old and new players,” Cuper said according to “EFA” website. “32 players have been called up to the camp. Some players proved to deserve the call up while others were below the needed level. We may call up more players I have already decided on the line up which will face Nigeria,” Cuper added. Egypt are currently leading Group G after winning their two games against Tanzania and Chad. The Pharaohs are set to face Nigeria two times next March as they hope to make their first African Cup of Nations appearance since 2010. http://www.kingfut.com/2016/01/30/cuper-decides-on-egypts-squad-against-nigeria/ 1 Like |

Enyimba's 'Hazard' Bassey for trials by Samm Audu Ambitious English Premier League side West Ham United have invited Enyimba forward Ezekiel Bassey aka ‘Hazard’ for trials. “Bassey has been invited for trials by West Ham,” a top source disclosed. Last year, Nigeria defender Azubuike Egwuekwe trialed with 'The Hammers'. Bassey has already been capped at full international level by Nigeria, when he made his debut in a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Swaziland in October in Port Harcourt. The former Akwa United star was on the final squad to CHAN 2016, but he only played a bit role as he has struggled with his form in pre-tournament training camp in Pretoria, South Africa. He is a left-sided winger with dazzling footwork and dribbles who has earned the nickname ‘Hazard’ after the Chelsea in his first season at champions Enyimba. But it is left to be seen if he could be granted a work permit should he impress trying out with the London club. africanfootball.com/news/607106/West-Ham-invite-Enyimba-s-Hazard-Bassey-for-trials 1 Like |

DR Congo Coach, Ibenge: We’re Happy Nigeria Are Out Of CHAN By Adeboye Amosu in Kigali: Democratic Republic of Congo coach, Florent Ibenge has told Completesportsnigeria.com that he is delighted that one of pre- tournament favourites of the 16 African Nations Championship, Nigeria, are out of the competition. The Home Eagles failed to make it to the quater-finals of the competition after going down to a 1-0 defeat to Guinea in their last Group C game on Tuesday. The Leopards of DR Congo, on the other hand, are through to the semi-finals following a hard fought 2-1 win against hosts Rwanda on Saturday. Ibenge hinted Completesportsnigeria.com at the Amahoro Stadium after his side's victory against the Amavubi, that the ouster of Nigeria has boosted his country's chances of winning the competition. "We are proud to be in the last-four and the exit of a country like Nigeria makes us believe we can win the competition," Ibenge told Completesportsnigeria.com. 4 Reasons Home Eagles Failed In Rwanda Comple tesportsnigeria.com's ADEBOYE AMOSU who is still covering the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda, highlights four key factors that militated against the Home Eagles' progress in the competition, and a consequent failure to go beyond the group stage. 1. Lack Of Motivation The home-based Super Eagles started their campaign at the African Nations Championship on an impressive note, mauling Niger 4-1. Not long after that, the players started complaining about the poor treatment meted out on them by their officials despite assurances by sports minister, Solomon Dalung that they would soon be paid all their outstanding allowances and bonuses. For the players, who had the same experience at their respective clubs last season where they were owed for several months, it was another pill to swallow. Majority of the players were in a sad mood on the eve of their last game against Guinea as they complained bitterly once again, and that reflected on their performance as they put up their worst performance in the three games they played at the 2016 CHAN. 2. Failure Of Key Players To Turn Up The loss of form of some key members of the squad really affected the team in Rwanda. In defence, Jamiu Alimi was totally awful in the first game against Tunisia and it was a surprise he earned a recall into he side in the last game against Guinea. The highly rated Paul Onobi was by far the biggest flop in the competition. His sluggish play in the midfield led to the two goals the Eagles conceded in the games against Tunisia and Guinea. Enterprising Enyimba winger, Ezekiel Bassey struggled to replicate his old form in training and was never trusted to start a game, while forward, Tunde Adeniji also flopped. 3. Lack Of International Experience The fact that majority of the players are playing in their first competition also affected their performance. Only the two goalkeepers; Femi Thomas and Ikechukwu Ezenwa who were part of Nigeria's U-20 squad to the World Cup in Canada in 2007, and Ifeanyi Matthew have played in an international competition in the past. It showed in their performance in the first game against Niger where they struggled for most of the first half and the last game against Guinea where they needed just a point to qualify for the quarter-finals, and they threw everything away. 4. Coach's Inexperience Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh's inexperience was one of the biggest factors why the Eagles failed to make it beyond the group stage in Rwanda. A more experienced tactician would have fashioned out a conservative approach that would have helped the team pick a point in their last Group C match against Guinea. Instead, Oliseh's team went all out attacking and lost the game in the end. Also, Oliseh's decision to start Jamiu Alimi instead of Kalu Orji in the last game against Guinea was a surprise to many. Orji helped stabilise the defence after coming on as a substitute in the Eagles' first two games, but he was left on the bench in the game against Guinea. The coach also persevered with players like Paul Onobi and skipper Chima Akas when it was obvious there were better options on the bench. www.completesportsnigeria.com/4-reasons-home-eagles-failed-in-rwanda/ |

TheGoodJoe:You just summed it all and brought back the memories of the 2010 AFCON Egypt 3–1 Nigeria: Pharaohs Come Back To Defeat Super Eagles Egypt went into this match hoping to pick up their first victory against Nigeria in 47 years as the Pharaohs began their title defence. The Super Eagles looked determined from the start, making typically tough tackles, but the first chance of the game fell to Egypt, as Mohamed Zidan found himself in front of goal, but his shot was wasted as he hit it over Vincent Enyeama’s goal. Nigeria were forceful in their play, and in the 11th minute their determination paid off, as Hoffenheim striker Chinedu Obasi turned the ball from his right foot onto his left before unleashing a thunderbolt that Egypt ‘keeper El Hadary could not keep out. A blistering run and cross from Taiwo in the 21st minute found Uche in the box, but the Almeria player blasted over when he should have made it 2-0. Emad Meteeb, who dribbled around the onrushing Enyeama before slipping the ball into an empty net. The two teams went into break with the score at 1-1. In the 54th minute, Egypt took the lead for the first time in the game, as good work on the right by Zidan allowed him to set the ball back forAhmed Hassanin his eighth African Egypt held on well, and Nigeria could not break down the Pharaohs despite some desperate play at the death, but when there seemed to be no more goals in the game Egypt placed the cherry on top of a fine win with a 87th minute goal from substitute Nagy Gedo, scoring his first Nations Cup goal with a strike from just outside the box into the corner of the Nigerian net. Egypt launched a final flurry of attacks, and they almost extended their lead, but after a few minutes of injury time the exciting game ended in favour of the Pharaohs. Egypt defeat the Super Eagles for the first time in 47 years and the rest now is history. Egypt na baba. Even now that most of our players are playing abroad, I still entertain fears when the name Egypt let alone Cairo is mentioned. www.goal.com/en/news/815/2013-africa-cup-of-nations/2010/01/12/1740983/egypt-31-nigeria-pharaohs-come-back-to-defeat-super-eagles 1 Like |

Wenger: “Clever” Iwobi Should Play For England, Not Nigeria By Izuchukwu Okosi: Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi should be playing for England’s Three Lions and not the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said. Iwobi was in action for Arsenal on Saturday in their FA Cup fourth round tie against Burnley and Wenger was impressed with the 19-year-old’s performance and believes he is a talent that got away from England’s grasps. Iwobi pledged his future to Nigeria and has been capped twice by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh after representing England at U-16, U-17 and U-18 levels. “I think he’s one England have missed because he plays for Nigeria now,” Wenger told the Guardian. “He should play for England. I don’t think he has played in a competitive game for Nigeria.” Wenger then revealed he deliberately stopped Iwobi from representing Nigeria last year at the U-23 level. He added: “I remember I turned him down for an U-23 tournament. But then Nigeria called him up for the first team to force him to go. “I think he has shown everybody that he is a good football player, again. I find him personally very interesting.” Wenger went on to praise the youngster, who was brilliant against Burnley on Saturday. It was Iwobi’s third start and eighth appearance for the club – all of them this season – and Wenger gave a glowing assessment of his game. “His decision-making is spot on and his awareness is very interesting,” Wenger added. “He’s a boy who, two years ago, not many would have said: ‘This will be.’ He develops very well. He’s very clever. I like the timing and the quality of his decision-making. He always turns where you want him to turn and he plays the ball where you want him to play the ball. He’s very interesting.” www.completesportsnigeria.com/wenger-clever-iwobi-should-play-for-england-not-nigeria/ 1 Like |
