[size=15pt]Mr schoolsupdate, why are you so intransigent? Didn't you see that this is a physics thread? Didn't you read the rule written in red ink, which clearly stated that you shouldn't post adverts here? Please stop derailing this thread. You guys posting long adverts here should stop it!!! Thanks @mathefaro..... it's a feature on my phone. It's called "s Note" and it's actually this neat because my phone has a stylus.

A rightward force is applied to a 6-kg object to move it across a rough surface at constant velocity. The object encounters 15 N of frictional force. Pls find Fapp ( applied force). Thankyoujesus, shyneptune, mathefaro

Re: 2016 NAIRALAND JAMB TUTORIAL {the Physics Thread } by mathefaro(m): 5:14pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
Geofavor:I think it's 15N since there's no acceleration |
Re: 2016 NAIRALAND JAMB TUTORIAL {the Physics Thread } by Nobody: 5:16pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
Geofavor:Technical question Well, from the little I know; At constant velocity, acceleration = 0m/s2 And and if the mass was initially at rest and after a force was applied the acceleration was still zero that means that the body did not move at all. Hence the applied force equals the frictional force. Hence applied force = 15N |

Mathefaro thinks same too |
Re: 2016 NAIRALAND JAMB TUTORIAL {the Physics Thread } by Geofavor(m): 5:22pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
mathefaro:modified* this will mean that the object remained stationary. But the question stated that a force was applied to move the object across the surface with a constant velocity. actually. they asked for the applied force and the net force. |
Re: 2016 NAIRALAND JAMB TUTORIAL {the Physics Thread } by mathefaro(m): 5:26pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
Geofavor:Fnet = Fapp - Ffr and since acceleration is zero, Fnet = 0 |

Lee Mealone is sledding with his friends when he becomes disgruntled by one of his friend's comments. He exerts a rightward force of 9.13 N on his 4.68-kg sled to accelerate it across the snow. If the acceleration of the sled is 0.815 m/s/s, then what is the coefficient of friction between the sled and the snow? Mathefaro, shyneptune, thankyoujesus. |

Geofavor:f=uN where f is force, N is reaction=f=ma |
Re: 2016 NAIRALAND JAMB TUTORIAL {the Physics Thread } by Nobody: 7:34pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
Geofavor:Lol. @ Lee mealone W = mg W=4.68×9.8 =45.86 N F net = Ma =4.68×0.815 =3.81 N Frictional force = net force - applied force = 3.81N – 9.13N = 5.32N μ = Frictional force /Reaction = 5.32/45.86 = 0.116 |
