Where is NN likely to build big ships? Lagos or Port Harcourt? The industry seems growing too fast for the navy's pocket to buy such big ships and oil companies are used to doing lease from overseas. Lagos LADOL shipyard is expanding to build 40,000 tonne ships. I see overcapacity risk. Gotta go slow, NN is only building one landing ship this year.

Ratel fitted with mine rollers clearing a path for the advancing forces.

The idea is for the pressure applied by the rollers to detonate mines in the path.

1) A toyota land cruiser has a max spped of 210KM/H while a 60mm/120mm mortar has a blasst radius of just 40m/60m. a land cruiser on max speeds has neutralize the mortar.
2) unit price of 1 unit of Javelin ATGM is US$246,000,Price of a TOW misssile In FY 2015 is $58,908 for just one missile so multiply that with probably 200 terrorist technicals and see your countries resources burn out.

3) mortars are area effect munitions and as such widely inaccurate. at 10km u cant hit sh|t.

Have you seen the rain of mortar?

Since Yesterday was Valentine's Day grin
I'd like to dedicate this post to a man that I truly love...The Founding father of the Namibian Nation
His never say die attitude is a quality that reflects on the Namibian people at large...I'd like to share a quote that displays his courage where he directly calls out our biggest adversary at the time (Not too sure about the direct translation but oh well)
"The South Africans cannot fire the atom bomb in Windhoek, they will kill themselves .Atom bombs also contain poisonous radioactive waste,They will die themselves there,They will die. They cannot fight in Johannesburg. But we will fight there in Johannesburg and we will also fight in Windhoek...Of course the fight will end up in the defeat of the South Africans,They are only in the position to postpone the day of reckoning. The day of their defeat,it will come and it is drawing closer particularly in Namibia because I am the Commander in Chief of the PLAN(People's Liberation Army of Namibia) and I know what I'm
doing"~Dr Sam Nujoma
No offense to all my South African brother's smiley

So much talk that couldn't materialised either. What is so sad is that he couldn't fight in either Windhoek or Johannesburg but Apartheid forces invaded his land and he disappeared in exile for 30 good years.

That man is more like so many former ANC military wing called Mkhonto we Sizwe (MK) who fled the country yet could speak volume about their bravery. Cowards is their name.

It was a great speech made to resonate among the PLAN ranks. It was difficult to maintain morale of the chaps in the military camps as conditions were really harsh.

He.ll even MK spoke about fighting all the way street by street to the Union building.

Getting into the army with just an SSCE is no good. Your cousin needs to think long term. He should instead sit for jamb, then pick NDA form. Or get a BS.c, go in for DSSC.

Deathmachine, Nigerdeltaboi and Youngmoneypi are in a better position to provide sound advice. All 3 guys are in the military.
he is still eligible for NDA at 19, if he don't make academy let him go to uni ooo ......DSSC and SSC still dey

MK initially tried to have it's HQ in SA. But after the arrest of the ANC leadership/high command including Madiba at the farm HQ a decision was made to have their HQ outside.

Speaking about bravery well it took balls to infiltrate into then Rhodesia(Zimbabwe), South West Africa(Namibia) and South Africa as failure often meant death or life in Robben island.

There was no way similar from ZIPRA, PLAN to MK could they have taken on the oppressive governments' security forces conventionally.

Any capital ships would be built at the Naval dockyard in Lagos. However facilities aplenty were builds can be done.

The Nigerian Navy budget for the acquisition of "Capital Patrol Ships" in 2016, do you know the specifics of what this means?

*correction : the Navy would build one landing ship and one survey ship. 2 vessels in all.

Nobody is shifting any goal post, we are just educating you to correct your big error of a near genocidal battlefield tactics to mass murder innocent civilians on African streets by using indirect fire area effect high explosive mortar shells to counter high speed high mobility Toyota gun trucks of terrorists. Only you think an unguided mortar shell will easily hït a fast driving crazy swerving Toyota vehicle that is NOT sitting down for you like a lame duck.

You do not know what urban COIN warfare in civilian towns and cities looked like.

There are many African streets with 2km long line of sight for terrorists and armies to shõõt at targets in direct fire mode point effect. We have 5km long roads and bridges, we have long streets 3km long traffic jams, we do street protests of people stretching 5km long marching line of protesters.

You CANNOT use area effect mortars in urban area where innocent civilians live, it is mass murder. African national Armies will have to counter terrorists' guns with equal firepower type of army guns, or else good people will lose, and bad people will win.
.

1. Watching videos of their use - they are stationary when firing

2. Neither do you, and most of Amisoms operations are in the bush
2.a those big 12,5s are useless in Fibua unless used in the conventional sense

3. So you are saying you normally have 2km line of sight in cities?

Mortars didn't cause any problems for MONUSCO

Stop chopping and changing your opinion.

And most of all - stop telling AMISOM what to do, since their achievements greatly outshine your own.

As part of the revitalised Rooivalk Mk 2 programme, Denel is moving forward with certifying the Mokopa missile on the aircraft and two missiles were fired during the Rooivalk demonstration on 3 and 4 February, 2016.

The Rooivalk launched the acclaimed 10 km range missile at a range of 8 km, which followed the laser beam from the Gripen, but narrowly missed the target.

Guided missile Mokopa of 10 km range MISSED TARGET at 8 km firing range, so what will happen at 10 km ? What will happen if an attack helicopter missile misses a radar guided anti-aircraft SAM system like Pantsir in real war, not against rag tag rebels ?

1. Tests.

3. The Hellfire and the Nag ATGMs did miss targets in tests.
