You don't need to register in a gym. You can just buy a Fitness DVD and use that whenever there's light. My advice for DVD for a beginner is Leslie Sansones Walk at Home Series. She's also on you tube. Other gym equipments that are not too expensive and can fit into a small home is a Mini Stepper and a Skipping Rope. You can also do Jumping Jacks (Jumping up & Down while raising your hands simultaneously).You can also do "Aside, together, Up & Down" Jumping that is done in primary school Physical Education classes. Brisk/Fast walking also helps a lot. You can also dance to music. I love dancing to Godwin by Korede Bello. Just set your watch to 30mins or 45mins

Also cut out refined sugar and flour, reduce the Carbohydrates you eat and drink lots of water during the day. The weight will start dropping off gradually. It's not easy but it's doable. Your BMI at 75kg is 28.4 which is Overweight and at 80kg is 30.3 which is Moderately Obese. You need to weigh at least 66kg to fall into the healthy weight range.

I know it's easier said than done, but just try and if you fail at any point don't kill yourself on it just pick up and start again.

That's good to know that it worked out for you in several ways apart from weight gain. You can also start strength training to bulk up on Muscle too. What time of the day do you usually drink it?

Am starting hopefully a 5 day Egg Fast today. I've been piling on weight gradually from not eating healthy. It seems am always hungry and my cravings are so high. So the Egg Fast is to help me lose the sweet tooth cravings, help me get back to healthy eating and also weight loss. I weighed in at 79.6kg this morning Wow! That's all the way from 77kg I weighed in the past week. And all the weight is on my tummy which is the worst/dangerous area to carry weight/fat. Now I know I can't put this off anymore. I need to take charge.

A downer to my plan is the Garden Eggs that DH bought for me in quantum yesterday. I told him about starting the Egg Fast but he still went ahead. When I confronted him, he just said, I love my wife, saw something healthy that she loves and bought it and that has become a crime now abi! He doesn't like me doing the Egg Fast, his weight loss approach is eat healthy and exercise, so I knew it was a kind of sabotage to my fast. I hate "exercising" by the way In fact I lost 14kg without exercising last year. Anyways I didn't drag it with him cos I didn't want us getting into a fight over such a trivial matter. I laughed it off but made a resolve not to let it stop me. If I find that it will spoil before Saturday, then I'll just turn it to oil-less garden egg soup and pop it into the fridge. There's also Agbalumo and Oranges too but I must jump all of them pass.

End of my rant. Wish me luck and cross your fingers for me that I don't derail. There are choppable things everywhere and the cravings are real. I need to get in charge like I was before my surgery.

Thanks for commending the plan. Your suggestion is also a good one but is only needed to be incorporated into the person's way of eating after the Egg Fast Diet. The Egg Fast Diet is exclusively done meaning that while on it, you don't eat any other thing. Most people do the Egg Fast for 3-5days and then switch to Low Carb, High Protein, High Fat which is where your recommendation will be useful.

I did the Egg Fast for 10days each time before resting and always lost 4-5kg each time. I ended up losing 14kg on three 10day Egg fasts which I did over 4months. On the Facebook support page, Egg Fasters report more loss. Am a very slow loser because I have Hormonal Imbalance, PCOS and have messed up my system with several weight loss supplements and various fad diets. Also we all have different body systems and will lose weight at different rates. My key advice to people is while embarking on special diets to quickly lose weight, make sure to put healthy eating routine/plan in place to help you maintain your loss and even continue loosing slowly but surely.

And yes you can lose even more than 7kg in 1 or 2 weeks. Whether it's healthy and ease of doing is another matter. I've done the Lemon Cleanse / Lemonade Diet made popular by Beyonce at some point even though it's being around for ages. On the Lemon Cleanse, you lose an average of 1kg per day, 7kg per week and 14kg in 2 weeks. I did it for 10days the first time I tried it and lost 10kg but guess what, I went back to my ice cream, bread, biscuits, chin chin and pop corn to mention a few of my favorite daily munchings and gained it all back plus more. The key after every crash diet is to go on to healthy eating and living.
@fvine, could you please throw more light on the lemonade diet. I would like to try it but don't know what it takes like: do I eat other food types during this diet or what kind of foods can I eat? If u could please give an overall summary of the dietime I'd appreciate.I have to loose a minimum of 10kg. I survived Day 1 of the Egg Fast, weighed in at 79.1kg, now that's a 0.5kg loss. Not much but appreciable. If I continue losing at that rate then by Day 5 morning I would be weighing in at my first target of 77kg which is where I was before I lost control. Well now that I know that my body is in weight loss mode, I'll try to stop daily weigh ins. Next weigh in will be Saturday morning. Praying to keep to the fast till then.

How are you all doing in your journeys either weight loss or weight gain? Hope good. A successful healthy day and week to us all.

The Master Cleanse / Lemonade Diet works like a charm but can be very difficult to do and stick to. You can have phases where you feel hungry, weak even lethargic. I recommend you do the Egg Fast which is more tolerable in that you don't feel hungry or weak you only need will power to avoid "longer throat" temptations from other foods. But in any case the choice is yours and you can try it out like I did. I've done it severally, sometimes for weight loss and other times for Colon Cleanse and Body Detox. I always aim for a minimum of 5 days as recommended by the originator but I usually end up going for 10days. Maximum days recommended is 40days. You don't eat any other thing during the diet, all you take is the Lemonade Mixture.

Below is the Master Cleanse / Lemonade Diet
INGREDIENTS
1. Two tablespoons (30ml) of fresh organic lemon or lime juice, (approximately half a lemon). Do not use bottled or canned lemon juice.

2. Two tablespoons of genuine maple syrup (grade B or C, the darker ones) . Not Maple flavored sugar syrup, or Two Tablespoons of Honey or 250ml of Sugar Cane Juice. If using Sugar Cane Juice, then no need for water as per ingredient number 4.

3. 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or to taste. Please add only when you're about drinking. Its this dry long pepper sold by Abokis in Lagos. Yoruba's call it Atagbigbe ( don't know if I spelt it correctly but that's how it's pronounced)

4. 8 ounces of water (250ml) or Half Sachet of Pure water.
The above ingredients makes 1 Cup of the Lemonade Drink. 1 full pure water of 50cl makes 2 cups but you'll then also have to double the other ingredients.


A. Combine all the above ingredients in a jar or big bottle and shake together. It is recommended to drink 6 to 12 glasses of the mixture per day. I usually make 6 cups in the morning and store in the fridge without the pepper and then take throughout the day. You add the pepper when you're about drinking. The pepper taste multiplies if added to the mixture and kept which means that by the time you're ready to drink it will be too pepperish and undrinkable.

B. Take Herbal Laxative of Senna Tea Leaves 1st thing in the morning and last thing at night before going to bed. The common Nigerian brand in Chemist and Pharmacies is called "Dakins Herb Tea". It's in a green and white packet and Inside you find the ground Senna Tea Leaves.

C. No other food or juice should be taken during the time of the Lemonade diet. The lemonade mixture contains all the vitamins, minerals, nutrients and energy your body requires.

D. Do not take vitamin pills. Overweight people can use less maple syrup/honey or dilute Sugar Cane juice so that it's not so sweet , and for people who are underweight who just want to detox, they can use more.

E. Never vary the amount of lemon juice per glass.

Your body should be having three to four bowel movements a day or even more, even though you are not eating any solid food. You will be passing the waste from your body, which was stored in the form of toxins and mucous.

My advice is ensure you always have an accessible toilet where you are because once your bowels start to move, you can hardly hold it. Initially your bowel movements would be watery and dark brown even black, this is due to the build up of dirt in your colon which is being eliminated. As time goes on, it lightens and turns to the normal yellow poop colour. There's a Yahoo Support Group for people all over the world undergoing the Cleanse. People share their experience and encourage each other. You can search and join them if you like.

* I've found that buying a Paint Bucket of Lime, A big bottle of honey or Plenty Sugar Cane from Mallams during the season works best. It also motivates you not to quit because you'll look at all you've bought and not have the mind to throw them away. I make sugar cane juice by slicing and blending the sugar cane with water in an electric blender, then I sieve with Muslin Cloth ( Cloth for Pap) and store in Gallons inside the fridge. You just buy all your ingredients in bulk so you don't lack in any day of the fast. I decided to try honey and sugarcane juice to see which works best, both are same but kinda taste a little bit different.

Lol. I tried it the first time because I was desperate to lose weight and I love experimenting on weight loss things that I feel will work and catch my fancy. I also succeeded because I did it with a friend and we were accountability buddies. The subsequent ones I did each time I got desperate to lose weight, maintain or just to detox my system. The last time I did it was Dec - Jan 2014. I've since lost the will to do it again because I've discovered easier ways.

I'll suggest you go the route of healthy eating with portion control. You might lose slowly but very surely. The 2 free sample diet menu's on www.africanweightloss.com works. I lost good weight on them. Good thing is that it's based on 9ja foods unlike the numerous food plans on the internet that contains Western food that is not readily available here.

Let me know whichever approach you adopt so that I can support you and possibly stand as your accountability buddy. Take care.

Very nice guide to Low Carb eating. Low carb eating is very healthy and helps with weight loss and good health. It's the recommended diet (way of eating) for women who have PCOS.

So I messed up yesterday evening my Day 2 on the Egg Fast. Hubby came back with this fresh smelling Groundnuts (Peanuts) that kept calling my name so I was silly enough to break down and succumb. Well after that, I decided to skip my dinner of 2eggs and 2 Tablespoon of Fat. I already had 5 Eggs and 5 Tablespoon of Fat in the day. Anyways am so lucky, seems like I got away with it. I know I said no weighing in till Saturday, but hey am a scale junkie and after what happened yesterday evening, I needed to know what the impact was. Well I weighed in at 78.7kg which means I had a loss of 0.4kg which is not bad in comparison to the 0.5kg loss after Day 1. Am glad and I've resolved to follow plan today otherwise I won't be lucky 2moro.

Day 3 begins today.So I've just finished breakfast, A cup of Bullet Proof Tea ( 1 Egg, 1 Tbs of Butter + Lipton mixed together). Very yummy and filling, although Bullet Proof Coffee tastes better. But am staying away from coffee as per ttc levels. I need to go get my hair done as I'll be resuming work on Monday. Will be making and taking Cinnamon Flavored Fake Egg Pancake & also plan on a No Sugar Drink if and when I get hungry at the Salon. I try avoiding eating more than one boiled egg in public where am known because people look at you weird and begin to ask lots of questions. No Sugar Drinks include 7up Free, H2O, Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, Sans Cream Soda, Sparwasser Sparkling Water. These are the ones I know and have used. They and Sugar Free Gum can be life savers during the Egg Fast.

Just sharing here to keep me accountable and to keep the thread active too. grin

@ Babyadorable , Sorry Sis. I guess I missed where you asked about strength training. Well strength training is basically exercising with weight as against the normal aerobic exercise of walking, dancing, Rope Skipping etc. What strength training does is that it works on increasing your muscle and muscle strength and that increases your weight too. It also ensures that you maintain a good body fat ratio even as you gain weight. So it ensures that as tou gain weight, you also gain fat + muscle and ensures that both is balanced. This is as against gaining only fat. You can continue with the 'Cumcumber/Dates Drink' and add the strength training gradually. Love you too Sis. *Kisses & Hugs*

@ Ubaid1991 posted a link that has a very nice guide to Low Carb dieting. But to summarize it, in going low carb and portion control for weight loss, you have to Eliminate Sugar and Flour if you want to succeed. I'll write a summarized guide. I've also taken the pain to go to www.africanweightloss.com to download sample Menus that I've used in the part with success. They should give you an idea of what you ought to do.

Foods to Avoid
1. Sugar and Sugar Products like Soft Drinks and Fruit Juices. Also note that glucose, dextrose, fructose intact anything that ends with "ose" on your food label is basically sugar.
2. Artificial meal replacements.

3. Flour & Grains : Flour, Breads, Noodles, Pasta ( Spaghetti, Macaroni), Wheat, Barley, Eye etc

3. Cheese. This is not bad in itself but it stalls some people's weight loss. If you eat and it doesn't affect you, then go ahead but go with Full Fat Cheese like Cheddar. Cheddar and the Local Yoruba Cheese called "Wara" doesn't affect me but I take them in moderation. I've stopped the cheddar because it's processed, I prefer Wara.

4. Soya Beans, Soya Milk and Soy Beans Oil. - This mimicks estrogen in the body and not good for you if you're ttc and have PCOS and/or Estrogen Dominance.

FOODS TO EAT

Meat, Fish, Eggs, Low Sugar and GI Fruits like Apple, Pears, Blueberries etc, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Nuts - Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Walnuts, Peanuts are high in Carbs and should be avoided but if you must take no more than a Child's handful quantity of Peanuts, Vegetables. Beans in limited quantities since it has high carb, Peas too.

This is just a guide and not exhaustive.

@ henmaris, see attached Sample Menu 1 from www.africanweightloss.com that's based on Nigerian Foods. You need to incorporate exercise (at least 30mins) for this to work maximally.

Note that for all the Sample Menus, you don't have to follow verbatim if you can't, I for one didn't. The most important thing is to stick to the foods and the portions in the Menu and switch around as per food availability. For instance all through the week one, my breakfast was Oatmeal. I never took the other cereals like kellog. I also preferred Apples to Watermelon so I went with eat but maintained the calorie count. Hope you get my drift.

@ henmaris and all who want to lose weight, another meal plan you can also adopt is a Pepper Soup diet for 1-2weeks. Yes it works. What this means is that you eat only Meat and Fish pepper soup of all kinds for the duration. So each meal and each time you're hungry, you eat pepper soup and nothing else. Combine with exercise. Meat is very filling, you'll be surprised how full you'll be that you won't even eat much in a day.

Ok so today is Day 4 of my Egg Fast. Am a scale junkie so I didn't take my own good advice and continued to weigh daily. I weighed in at 77.6kg which means that I've had a total loss of 2kg in 3days. Well I'll take it, am happy although it wouldn't have been bad if I lost more. Lots of people on the Facebook Support Group are losing more than this but well some are also losing less than what I've lost so I really need to be grateful and happy.

Yesterday's Meal which am also going to adopt today is:
Breakfast : 1 Bullet Proof Lipton Tea. I make this with 1 Egg, 1 Tablespoon of Real Butter, I cup of Lipton Tea. Very Yummy

Lunch/Evening Meal : 5 Eggs and 5 Tablespoon of Real Butter made into Egg Pancake. Recipe is Eggs, Mixed with Butter, a dash of Cinnamon, Artificial Sweetener to taste ( I use Sweetex which is pure Sachharin) and Fried in Butter. Note that artificial sweeteners are not good for long term use as they affect the liver as also keep your cravings alive. The only artificial sweetener that is an exception is Stevia. This is available at GNC store at Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos.

Dinner: The remainder of my Pancakes if I don't finish it when I made it. 2 Agbalumo. Yes Agbalumo is not part of the Egg Fast but I've been taking 1-2 each night while watching TV before bed to curb Nausea a side effect am getting from Metformin. Am glad it hasn't affected my Egg Fast so far.

Note: I also take lots of water during the day, a Bottle of Sugar Free Soda which I sip all through the day when I feel like it. Also chilled Lipton Tea when I feel like it.

Right now I can't stand Boiled Eggs or Mayonnaise. So I take my eggs in the form of BPT and Egg Pancakes. Am also unable to eat more than 6-7 eggs per day as I feel full and lack appetite for more. There's no Maximum number of eggs per day but there's a minimum of 6 per day.

Hoping Day 4 goes perfect and I even lose more at morning weigh in tomorrow. *Fingers Crossed*

Hi mamas am new to ds forum bt hv bin in ttc forum

But I heard dat lemon or lime is not good for ttc because of d acidic content, it makes ur cm n uterus hostile n can cause early miscarriage, pple even use it for abortion. It might be an old-wives tale o bt I feel dias an element of truth in it cos I knw sm1 who committed an abortion by drinking lime n salt solution daily.

Anywayz I never knew we were egg fast buddies until 2day n its my 4th day too. Bt me I don decide say I nogo climb scale o, 4 werin nah. I no want HBP or discouragmnt cos it hs happned b4. Rather I use a tape n measure every weekend n wow d ministry is moving sha will measure 4 egg fast 2moro mornin cos ds my last day. Last I check scale I was 99kg infact 100 bt now I can see my neck bones from a distance, glory 2 God. Me am nt in a hurry 2 slim sha, av given myslf 2 yrs frm now n takin it jejely.

Mamas I salute una, sorry 4 d long writeup am kinda jobless now, friday tins. TGIF. May ur day be fruitful.

Ok Dear. Just go low carb with portion control for now and you'll be fine. Am using the Egg Fast for weight crashing and to relieve myself of the Carb build up and sweet cravings from all the Carbs I ate during Myomectomy recovery. From Monday am going back to my regular Carnivore Zero Carb eating.

Dear Sis, you're very wrong about Lemon at least. Lemon and Lime are acidic but turn alkaline when they get into the body. An Alkaline body is good for optimal health. As for TTC, Lime is very controversial so I tell people ttc to stay away from it. Lemon can actually help you get pregnant and also help in trying to conceive a Son. This is because it turns your body and CM alkaline which helps nourish the sperm, make it live as long as possible and great Motility for the Y Sperm. Our own very Mama on the ttc forum actually conceived using Lemon in Feb. If you want to use Lemon for TTC, all you need do is to add lemon juice to your drinking water. Even none ttc people are encouraged to take Lemon juice in warm water 1st thing in the morning for good health.

Lime is used and called a culprit in miscarriages because it has a very high content of Vit C and a high dose of Vit C causes abortion in most female, whether it's from Lime or from Vit C Tablets or syrup. Vit C is also used in pregnancy prevention by some people, it works sometimes but fails too. Some even insert Vit C into the Vagina few minutes before sex to make the CM and Cervix acidic. An acidic CM kills of sperm especially the Male Sperm and discourages movement. It is only the female sperm X that can live in a slightly acidic environment but that's if it's not way too acidic to kill it off.

If you read my previous posts on the past pages, you'll see that when I mentioned the Lemonade Diet / Lemon Cleanse / Master Cleanse whichever name you choose to call it. I discouraged TTC Mum's from doing it not just because of the high Lime Content but also the high Purging. If at all a TTC Mum wants to do it, then it's better done after period and many days before Ovulation. But to me there are better ways of losing weight but remember that this is a weight loss thread so all am doing is posting all the successful weight loss stuff I know. You can read up the Master Cleanse. The author Charles Burroughs used it for cure of several ailments like Ulcer, Piles etc. It's been around for ages but only got popular when Beyounce used it for weight loss to be able to act in the movie Dream Girls.

Your approach of Tape Measure is the best because you can weight high due to muscles and bones but be a good size in measurement. Another easy way is targeting a dress size. I understand that the average healthy dress size for females is 10/12. You can do your researches on all I've said. Don't take my word for it. When am interested in stuff, I don't condemn them rather I research and experiment if I can. All I post on this thread are things I have done myself and I usually include my source and support group where one can meet and interact with people on the same diet as he/she is.

Great that you're seeing the effects of the Egg Fast even without weighing. Honestly the advice is not to weigh until the 4th day morning if you're doing a 3 day Egg Fast or the 6th Day morning if you're doing a 5 days Egg Fast. The reason is that for some people their body doesn't recognise the weight then until they get what is called the "Whoosh" . But hey am a Scale Junkie but the good thing is, if I don't see a loss, rather than get depressed, it motivates me to continue and get the success others are getting
