Wolves Starlet Dominic Iorfa Impresses In First Game In Central Defense Published: April 16, 2016 Wolves Starlet Dominic Iorfa Impresses In First Game In Central Defense Dominic Iorfa impressed as a central defender in Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 loss to Hull City on Friday night in the Championship, so much so that he has been praised by his coach Kenny Jackett. For the first time in 58 games in the second-tier, the England U21 international, who is originally a right fullback, was deployed at center back by the manager in the absence of Danny Batth who was unavailable for selection due to illness. “Danny missed out through illness and it was a big night for Dominic and Kortney,” said Jackett to wolves.co.uk. “But they have enough experience now and I wasn’t disappointed with them.” To a certain extent, Iorfa was responsible for the first goal conceded by Wolves at the KC Stadium after a miscued clearance by the defender, otherwise he had an excellent game indeed. Petrobros:As much as we know we have the players and coaching crew to scale that group, we have a big challenge which Coach Siasia pointed out. Clubs releasing players early. The effectiveness of the team lies in two things, right selection and players arriving camp early to blend with the team. Right selection This is a big important part. It is up to the Coach putting his sentiments aside, coming up with a killer strategy and Fielding the best players he feels will do the job. Players early in camp If the players do not make it to camp at the right time, it means the coach will settle for a less effective team. We need the NFF members on the phone, sending emails and faxing these clubs to release the players early. Th Japanese game is key. A three point advantage is good for our confidence. So we need to treat that game as a must win game. We should not down play the Swedes strength. I believe a disciplined side that adheres strictly to instructions will always do better than a heavily talented side that is not disciplined. We saw this when Man City met a superb talented PSG team but Man City stuck strictly to their game plan and we came out tops. Same thing happened with Barcelona and Athletico Madrid. I expect disciplined game from Sweden and a tough game against them. I see us scaling through the group but it will not be an easy run. We have a coach who has the right principles, philosophy and strategy. He just needs to stick to his system but improve the disciplined play of his midfielders. We can not run open like we did against Egypt. The midfielders need to do more to shield the defence. 1 Like |

forgiveness:I think allnigeriasoccer.com has started releasing wrong and false informations. I have been an ardent follower of d site. How will they say ikeme conceded an own goal. I don't think they watched d match. It was a free kick that beat d wall, hit d bar & bounced across d line. This will beat any other gk. So why d info that he scored an own goal. The other time this same site wrote that Siaone was bribed to invite Theo Solomon for Brazil friendly. I just guess they always write negatively about players that don't grease their palms. 1 Like |

NRIPRIEST: So there are no black boys with black parents of English Origin. Why must they hunt our blood? You keep talking all this. So if I deliver my child in London and groom him there, him coming to play for Nigeria is, Nigeria stealing an English boy That is weak. They are Nigerians born overseas. It is as simple as that. If they feel English and they want to play for England. Good for them. If they feel Nigerian and they want to play here, good for them. You opening your mouth and calling Nigerians lazy is crazy. You make it look as if we have not done well in football without foreign born Nigerians. Please how many of the Foreign born Nigerians were in our last AFCON winning team? What of the Atlanta Olympics winning team or the 1994 AFCON. I repeat, we are not begging. We can cope well without them. It is just that these boys have a right to represent Nigeria if they want to. 4 Likes |

dozai: I was also suprised that the goal was accredited as an own goal because the ball already crossed the goal line before it bounced back and hit Ikeme's back to finally enter into the net. Well, soccerway also wrote the same thing allnigeriasoccer.com wrote. They probably must have gotten the information from one of those sports site. On the other hand, i was impressed with Dominic Iorfa performance at the center back which was his first time in that position. I think he is more comfortable in that position though i read he caused the first goal. Moses Odubanjo will flourish in a team that allows the wing backs to move forward provided there is a trustable cover up for him. 1 Like |

I've picked my over aged players for 2016 Olympics - Siasia Apr 17, 2016 00:04:51 The Dream Team VI trainer says he has picked his three overage players for Rio 2016, while hoping to claim the men’s football event Head coach of the Nigeria U23 national team, Samson Siasia says he has made his choice on the three over aged players to include in his team for the Rio Olympics. The tactician who saw his team zoned against Sweden, Japan and Colombia in Group B insists he will announce their names at the appropriate time while expressing optimism over his side’s chances of progressing to the knock out phase. "I already have in mind the three over aged players that I intend using at the Games," Siasia said. "But I will not disclose their names for now as I think it's still too early to do so. For me, there is no good or bad draw, for all the teams played qualifiers to get here," the former Super Eagles coach admitted. "Besides, the Group B that we are in has two continental champions alongside Nigeria, so I don't expect it to be a stroll in the park for us, but with quality preparations I am sure we will pick one of the tickets from this group. "My target in Rio is to pick the gold medal having won the silver medal in Beijing in 2008, so when I get back to Nigeria, I will put heads together with my assistants to work out our preparations for the Games. Nigeria U23 begin their campaign against Japan on August 4 at the 41,000-seater Arena da Amazonia. m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/17742/olympics/2016/04/17/22468312/ive-picked-my-over-aged-players-for-2016-olympics-siasia 1 Like |

MOSES SIMON ELATED AS PRESSURE IS OFF HIS SHOULDERS AFTER SCORING Moses Simon says his first goal for Gent in the playoffs has helped in taking off the pressure of not scoring a goal in the year 2016, a barren run which extends to over 15 games. Simon last scored in December 2015 in Gent 3-0 win over Kortrijk before scoring a solo goal against KV Oostende in the playoffs on Saturday to seal a comfortable 2-0 win for Gent who are now three points behind Anderlecht in second position, the last UEFA champions league spot for teams in Belgium. “It”s a nice feeling to score as always but this is special as it took a whole lot of pressure off my shoulders as well as helping my team move close to our ambition of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League” He told Owngoalnigeria.com. Since moving to Europe in 2014, this season is his worst season in terms of goals as he has scored just three times as opposed to previous seasons when he scored 20 goals spread over three season, two at Slovak side AS Trencin and one at Gent. owngoalnigeria.com/2016/04/18/moses-simon-elated-as-pressure-is-off-his-shoulders-after-scoring/#more-2717 1 Like |

TEAM OF THE WEEK: NIGERIA PLAYERS ABROAD Vincent Enyeama- Inspired Lille to another valuable win over Ajaccio, he was not really tested but on few occasions that Ajaccio attackers did get the ball across to him he was up to the challenge. Tyronne Ebuehi- Another Nigerian youngster making giant stride at modest ADO Den Haag, he had a decent game, nimble footwork, good speed and not too bad crosses. He was the preferred choice again at the right back and he did not disappoint, Ado Den Haag won an away game. Stanley Amuzie- Played as a sub and he scored most important goal that pushed his club up the ladder. Amuzie to our surprise played as winger again and couple of times this season he has been deployed as a left winger rather than his preferred position as a left back Fengor Ogude: Ever since he returned from Injury, Ogude has been a pillar for the rejuvenated Russian side, won an amazing highest number of tackles, the highest figure by any player. He kept it simple with his passes and made two goal bound clearances, it was a pretty good performance to help Amkar pick a point at relegation bound Mordovia Saransk. Leon Balogun: Scored a beautiful goal, rose above every other player to head in a goal from a well taken free kick to put Mainz 2-0 ahead. He was head and shoulder a every other Mainz’s players, won tackles and aerial battles at will, delivered great passes and it was unfortunate his team lost due to carelessness on the part of other defenders. Kenneth Otigba: Another beast mode performance from Nigerian defender, he was very resolute in defending and made some last ditch tackles against the forwards he was up against to stop couple of Excelsior’s goal bound moves. A dangerous player at every set pieces and also a tough nut to crack for Excelsior’ strikers. Heereveen went home with a point gradually moving up the table. Joel Obi: He was good at every counter attack and did a yeoman’s job at retrieving the ball from the opponent. Bologna’s Diawarra will never forget Joel Obi in a hurry, his passes were really good and he set Bellotti up twice who wasted both opportunities. He made our team of the week performance based on the strength of this performance. Eddy Onazi- A dominant factor, he combined beautifully with Lucas Biglia and Parolo, Lazio cruised home with another back to back win and with his performance he has justified the confidence Simone Inzaghi had in him. He capped his performance with a fine goal from a solo effort after good interchange of passes with Klose, smashing the ball past the opponent’s goalkeeper to put Lazio 2-0 ahead. Simon Moses- He replaced Boussoufa Mubbarak at 74 mins and after few minutes he stamped his authority with a textbook goal, he dribbled past 4 defenders very akin to ’’Messi-resque’’ move and powered it past Oostende GK. He was handful for the opponent and resourceful, decent performance from Simon. Aaron Samuel: He was excellent apart from the goal, he was CSKA’s best player at the final third, set his teammates up three times with final passes but they wasted it. He was mobile, ran the show for them and he reacted to a spilled ball for the equalizer. Fanendo Adi- He scored two second-half goals for Portland Timbers’ 3-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes He replaced D. Mattocks at 63rd minutes and in the 65th minutes scored a silky goal before adding another at the 98 mins which happened to be the insurance goal for Portland Timbers. owngoalnigeria.com/2016/04/18/team-of-the-week-nigeria-players-abroad-6/ 1 Like |

It is almost certain that Isaac Success will not make the Olympics..... Siasia WHY? Simon Moses style of play doesn't fascinate me, I'll rather not take him.... am objective How about my boy Chidera Eze isnt he good enough for the olympics?.. He is making steady progress at Porto... It been clear right from the U15 tourney he is meant for elite football... Would not mind having him instead of Moses.... now thats sentiments |
