AZUH:Chief, I know you are just teasing. You probably must have gotten the answers you need then decided to go in circus to see if any other reasonable Idea will emanate from it. I bet you that assuming you tried solving this problem on your own as the contractor, you would have created more for yourself. As for the corrupt citizen aspect, I understand your fantastically good sense of humor. Loba tan 3 Likes |

FastShipping: Many (99%) people paid millions into my account without knowing my office. The same trust we have in our tradespeople. I know Olumide is not hard to get. He has done many other jobs for people that I know. I can speak to them. He did the vaulted ceiling for one of my client. I can get his details from them. I just want to know if there are cheaper alternatives around. It's good to have them handy Brabus 2 Likes

The first time I swung one of those hidden hinge doors open at a high end open house, I knew I have found the design for the doors that'll fit the two 7 feet entry space in the main house. The hinge is critical to maintain edge space, droop and smoothness of opening. |

mufutau55: Make God give us money What stops someone sponsoring a programme "Drab2Fab" where Skimanski turn a boring design into something modern. I tell you, it'll make a lot of sense. I'm looking in that direction especially with some estates (their showhomes), or just face lifting a boring shop design. It's season of reality shows. A builder takes a part of the house (say Kunle Afolayans studio)and make it over. Skimanski, that's up to you. What's your take? Brabus |

So we've reached this stage in our solar hostel (from https://www.nairaland.com/2583312/building-solar-powered-hostel-learning-experience/2) and I'm having trouble with the best way to complete the roofing, considering that the roof is made up entirely of panels, hbeams and aluminium (there is no wood anywhere). Ideally, I would like to retain a flat roof, with a very minimal fascia/parapet that will complete the look of this structure. What's the best way forward? Thanks! By the way, we're already producing an average of 30kWH of energy per day. This means we can keep the lights on, charge our phones and laptops, as well as run an efficient fridge indefinitely, without caring about PHCN or fuel scarcity. I personally designed and manufactured the highly-efficient (prototype) LED lights we're using, and I'm proud that they've run without issues for weeks now.

Congrats nextstep! This is nicely done. Lovely. So what's the challenge? You want a roof over the solar? Or want to make the roof look good aesthetically? |

n3xt: The challenge is to make the roof look good with the proper combination of fascia and soffits, like in the picture below. It's a task made particularly more difficult by the fact that there are panels on the roof already and there is no wood to attach with nails

skimanski: Am I supposed to say something to the bolded part? Trust me, it only requires little funding and it won't be from your end. Sponsors will be queueing to have you feature their products in each episode. Even homeowners who wants free makeover will be on a threaded list. Cheap advert for the builder. Good ROI for the sponsors/partnering companies (tiles importers, sanitary wares, light fittings, kitchen makers etc) And the builder can just retire in peace. Don't be surprised if you see a show like this spring up any moment. Did I just reel out a multimillion dollar business idea on a public forum where we are supposed to make noise and call each other names. You never know those who patronize this platform. I've met kokomasters promoters on here and many more. Let's make something cool out of this. _____ Brabus 2 Likes |

nextstep: I knew exactly what the problem was I just want you to say it. In your next build, tell your steel fabricator to use angle trusses for you. You'll never experience such challenge using 60mm x 60mm X 6mm angle iron. This is one of the major challenge of using sections for roofs. It makes additions near impossible. If I may ask, how have you resolved internal ceilings? ______ Proposed Solution 1 Use precast fascia and tie it to the exposed beam. Ensure its properly covered to prevent water ingress. Proposed Solution 2 Use fiber cement board from Nigerite to install the soffit using concrete, tying wire to attach it to the beams. Proposed Solution 3 Get a pro to burn holes in the beam to install woods which you can nail your soffit to. Do you know it's possible to clad exposed beams with wood or other materials. So it's equally possible to install wood onto it. You'll need a welding generator on site to achieve this. Brabus 1 Like |

AZUH: Okay, I'll bite. 1) The owner built this himself, how can he be corrupt? 2) Why do you think it's a suicide mission? Because the steps are in the process of being installed? 3) The owner posted the pic himself 4) Why are you blaming contractors? Did the owner report a problem? 1 Like |

@ nextstep, Proposed Solution 4 | Most Economical Run 2 x 3 woods to the wall and get Aluminium fascia cladding like the one we did in the project pic below in 2012. Fix it to the wood on the wall and the top part will be between the beam and the panel. Ensure it is properly fastened together to prevent water and wind. You need a pro for that. I wish Sir Farm1 can share the pics of his house where a similar design was done for him by my installer. It was a perfect job. Oga, hope the thing no give any prob sha? Nairaland data loss of 2014 wiped off a lot of beautiful projects. Brabus
