i dont roast,but let me share at least 2 method/experiences i was involve in.first the one we did in festac,we used electric oven to dry d fishes 4 some days,d second is this constructed oven using coal.D first was light in appearance than d second(wasn't really darken).To kill d fishes,we put them in sack containing salt & shake.Then d intestine with other internal organs was removed(more presentable to make them last).Salt d fishes,but 4 d second,according to d client request in abuja,ginger,pepper was added(customer brought about 50kg plus of roasted catfish).Delivered via driver going to abuja.D first,packed in cartons & some companies in lagos bought as gift for staff for christmas.D drier it is,d more their shelflife.If burnt,they taste bitter & your customers cant like it.Just see how u can create your niche.Presently i had seen N300pack,u can do N100 pack

your funds could do it, though i would still encourage that you take to visit one or two farms in abuja or kuje axis,hopefully you could get better insight into what you are going into.

Two million naira will go a long way, my advice for you is to be an apprentice for atleast 3months and also go through the wealth of information on this thread.
Start small, you'll be glad you did.

my brother why come after you have concluded?The word of God says who is it that will build a house without first sitting down to count the cost & after he had started to build & could not finish that his neighbour would mock him.Even your 30k cannot feed d 1,500 fishes to table size even if you dont touch a kobo,even at the old price sir.If the fishes haven't being supplied,you can plead with d breeder to reduce it,say 500(just for reasonable number),if u are getting over burden or stress with feeding,u can sell as melange Or aim to b doing melange for start,sell every 2 months until finances improve

Thanks for the response, I will really love to be an apprentice and have a good mentor but I currently resides in Badagry in Lagos and I don't know anyone around that could help. Please if you know anyone in Lagos you can kindly recommend, I will really appreciate it.

it depends on what u wanna achieve. i will advise that u dont compromise with feed quality at this stage. this is not a good stage to start thinking of cutting cost. best option, produce your own feed rich in protein using any of the formulas listed on this thread. i dont want to talk about issues some of my clients had with this brand recently. if u have kept ursef abreast with the series of info on this thread u will understand that one good way of cutting cost translates to making ur own quality feed. i hope this helps?
