What did the Petroleum minister say?

Seeing that we already operate 4 examples of the Beechcraft King Air 350e, and are on the verge of inducting additional UAVs, it is my most measured opinion that we aren't the customer.
The P.M. said one of the issues bedeviling the Niger Delta is a lack of High tech surveillance by ISR that must be improved by the use of DRONES and surveillance Aircraft.
I guess we have to wait and see,the NAF under the present administration has been more transparent however they haven't indicated to buying anymore ISR planes, however that doesn't stop the NNPC or the IOCs from buying these aircraft for them, this is my Educated guess.

I know there was some confusion here about the colours of the missile covers on the SAN frigates.
To clarify: red covers mean practice round loaded or no rounds at all;
grey covers mean live missiles loaded.

Heartwrenching,

Xray shows a 14.5mm lodged in the neck of a Nigerian soldier fighting Boko-Haram, luckily the soldier survived the surgery to remove the bullet from his neck at the Military Hospital in Maiduguri and is recovering back home.

N/B, a 14.5mm round is an AA round. A 14.5mm would tear through an MRAP like hot knife through butter.

How 'false' Facebook post caused death of 272 in South Sudan

A "false" Facebook post on South Sudan's First Vice President Riek Machar account caused the death of 272 people following renewed fighting among rival forces.

The country's embassy in Nairobi claimed James Gatdet, an official in the joint administration allegedly told Machar's army - through an update on the account - that he had been detained by President Salva Kiir forces at the palace.

Ambassador Chol Ajongo said it is this information that led the army to respond, causing the fighting in the capital Juba which entered its fifth day on Tuesday.

"On July 8, 2016, the SPLA-IO forces Spokesman James Gatdet, Press Secretary of Dr Riek Machar created and spread rumours that their leader Dr Riek Machar Teny was under arrest," Ajongo said at a press briefing.

"This was false, because Machar was attending a security briefing meeting with President Kiir, Vice President James Wani and other senior government officials at the J1 (presidential palace)," he said.

"Sudan's People Liberation Army In Opposition forces proceeded to attack the government forces at J1 at 4.15 and killed many innocent soldiers," he said.

Ajongo said that after the post was published on Friday, a member of Machar’s troops forced his way into the palace.

But he was denied access leading to a confrontation between the officer and security at the gate, the tiff causing injury of a security officer.

"One of the officers came into the palace and wanted to force his way through the doors to where the meeting was taking place. He was denied access to the building. He then shot the officer and the fighting broke out," the envoy claimed.

The Ambassador said the “falsehood” was spread when Machar was attending a security meeting with Kiir and other top government officials.

Ajongo, who was posted to Kenya in June, said: "President Kiir protected Dr Machar’s life until 11.40pm when he personally arranged for armed security escort to take him back safely to his residence in Jebel Kujor area."

He accused Machar-allied forces of pursuing conflict despite the agreement signed in August 2015 that drafted a power sharing agreement.

"Anti-peace elements within the SPLA-IO have totally disregarded peace and decided a return to war," he said.

He said the SPLA-IO were roaming the streets at night while heavily armed and without clear purpose, and refused to stop at check-points. He also said they shot at vehicles including one of the United States of America Embassy in Juba.

The Ambassador said Juba International Airport reopened on Tuesday and further dismissed calls by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (Igad) to send peacekeeping forces to the nation.

No.They're here;at least one squadron. They've been seen but fyi they're forward based in Wajir, IIRC not at 50 ACB Embakasi.

Kenya
In late 2011, Kenya began the process of acquiring 16 Mi-28 ground attack helicopters for its Embakasi based 50th Air Cavalry Division. The attack helicopters were acquired, after senior military officers made several visits to Russia. The helicopter gunships were delivered to the 50th Air Cavalry Division in Kenya on 3 January 2012, from the Russian state owned corporation Rosoboronexport, which is an intermediary for all imports and exports of military related hardware.[27]

The first serial production Mi-28N helicopter was delivered to the Russian Air Force in mid 2006 and entered into service in December 2013. The Mi-28Ns are also in service with Iraq and Kenya.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Online Fleets database records the Russian air force as having a current active fleet of 63 Mi-28s, with a further 34 on firm order. Kenya is now flying four examples from a 16-unit order,

The simplest explanation is always the truth. Not unless the 4 units were just for testing and not for active deployment, there is no way there are Mi-28 flying somewhere in Kenyan skies. 1st, the havoc have a distinct sound so even if they were to fly only at night, someone somewhere would have noticed.

2nd, if they existed, they would have been deployed, and someone in Somalia would have noticed the firepower of a real gunship. And there is no way DoD would have stood by if they had 'flying tanks' at there disposal during eladde attack, they could have rained hell with precision strikes day or night...

I even once read a Russian state owned article say Kenya has mi-28 but still, I don't think we do, just like we don't have f16s flying around...... If we ever come to find out I was wrong, that would be the best day of my life
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 10:14am On Jul 14, 2016
I nearly had a heart attack when I first read this story last year. But later I just ended up concluding that it must have been a mistake. Now, in every national ceremony where there is a fly-past by KAF, the commentator always identify the fighters as f-5 jets, so anyone who listens or watches on radio or tv countrywide should knw that, but this resident who lives along the Kenya Somali border specifically identifies two Kenyan jets as f-16s! Obviously he must have been mistaken, but been a resident who ocassionally see fighters cross the borders he must be used to the different aircrafts that go back and forth and knows what is what. The other explanation would be that propably the guy was ignorant and f16 is the only name of a fighter he knows..... Here the article Kenyan fighter jets reportedly hit several suspected Al-Shabaab targets in Somalia on Monday, one day after four Kenyans were killed by the militant group, according to eyewitnesses. "I saw two jet fighters fly over Mandera town heading towards Somalia," Iyessa Seneta, a resident of Mandera, capital city of Kenya's Mandera County, told The Anadolu Agency. "They flew over our town several times before dropping missiles on a hill across the border not far from our town," he said. Mandera County, located near Kenya's border with Somalia, has recently come under repeated attack by Al-Shabaab. "I saw F16 jet fighters over Mandera for some 30 minutes. Later, we could hear bombardments from the Somali side," Moalim Saleh, a Mandera County government official, told AA. The hills of Somalia's Gedo region are believed to be an Al-Shabaab stronghold, where recent attacks on Kenyan soil have been planned. In southern Somalia's Shabaab- held town of Jilib, residents likewise confirmed seeing jet fighters in the skies. Al-Shabaab militants in Jilib fired several anti-aircraft missiles, according to residents and websites affiliated with the group. There have been reports that Kenyan jets also struck Al-Shabaab military bases near the southern town of Bardher..... http://aa.com.tr/en/politics/kenyan-jets-hit-shabaab-targets-in-somalia/66492 I say he was obviously mistaken (even though he is a county govt official) bcause if we did have either mi-28 or f16, it would have been a game changer, things would be alot different in the battlefield, we would be hearing of airstrikes on a daily basis. Also Russia or US would not sell such vital tools and not make official statements as part of PR to sell to more customers and also part of accountability especially US, there would have been months of negotiation for spareparts. And such a huge amount of budget would have raised eyebrows in parliament. Just last week one MP was suggesting the budget for KDF be cut by $200 million and reallocated to school feeding program (althou his reason for sujjesting this was bcoz DoD refused to disclose their reason for there increased spending so there is still hope for some suprize secret spending that we all hope isn't just our wild Imagination)

Right from the start the war wasn't about the ordinary Dinka,Nuer or Shilluk. Al-Shabaab terrorist killed as gunmen attack police camp in Lamu

An Al-Shabaab terrorist was killed while a police officer sustained minor injuries when about 20 gunmen attacked a security camp in Lamu County.

According to Lamu East AP commander Abdullahi Adan, the Shabaab terrorists attacked Mangai RDU Camp in Basuba, Lamu East on Thursday at around 2am.

Mr Adan confirmed that an AK 47 riffle and three magazines full of ammunitions were seized from the terrorists as they fled after being overpowered by the police.

He said the militants who were armed with rocket propelled grenades tried to force their way into the camp with intention to bomb it.

He said they were also shooting randomly at the camp.

He said the situation was however under control since there was a heavy presence of security officers including the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), the various police units including RDU, General Service Unit (GSU) and Border Patrol Police Unit who were manning the area.

“At around 2am, our RDU camp at Mangai was attacked by a group of over 20 Al-Shabaab militants. We managed to neutralize one Al-Shabaab militant and recovered one AK-47 rifle and three magazines full of ammunition. Security officers are currently trailing the militants,” said Mr Adan.

Mr Adan also said they were expecting more reinforcement from Nairobi.

He called on locals to be vigilant and report any person with bullet or suspicious wounds since many of the militants are said to have escaped with gunshot wounds.

This is the third time Al-Shabaab has attempted to attack the camp with police intelligence indicating they are targeting to steal armoury.

Further, police intelligence indicate that the Al-Shabaab want to destroy the camp as it was built at the heart of their route they initially relied on to cross into the country from Somalia.

Several police stations have also been established in places that were formerly used as Al-Shabaab routes to gain access into the county.

The areas include Basuba, Milimani and Mararani.

“We know they have their eyes on the Armoured Police Carrier and also what they want is access to the armoury but we can never allow them to get close to those,” said the police source.

On Sunday, 14 GSU officers escaped death by a whisker when suspected Al-Shabaab militants blew an IED to their armoured personnel carrier (APC) at Baure in Lamu East.

The IED had been planted on the road by the militants just 3 kilometers from Baure military camp.

The amoured personnel carrier was heading to Hindi from Kiunga when they were attacked but no officer was injured.

There are several security camps in Baure and the entire Basuba Division in Lamu East including the KDF, General Service Unit (GSU), RDU, Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and regular police who cooperate in conducting a multiagency security operation — Linda Boni — which was launched on September 11, 2015 with major target being to flush out Al-Shabaab militants believed to be hiding inside the dense Boni forest.

You really need to school yourself on American racial and sociopolitical realities before throwing out such statements.

Arrest quotas are nothing new, neither are police abusing their power. This has been a bone of contention for a long time now.

What is new, however, is mindless allegations of "institutional racism" and people rioting because two policeman shot an armed criminal who resisted arrest and then proceeded to reach for his gun - while ignoring the killing of an unarmed white boy, with no criminal record, who did not resist arrest in California.

What is new is rioting, for no real reason, and destroying black cities and black neighborhoods all while shouting "Black lives matter".

Lets talk about Baltimore.

- A black man was killed while in police custody.
- Before any facts were available, the people rioted
- They screamed RACISM!!
- In a city with a Black Mayor
- Which has a Black Police Cheif, whos Executive Command is majority Black
- A city whos Council has 15 seats - 9 are held by Blacks, all by Democrats
- A case that was investigated by a Black District Attourney (who refused to prosecute)
- And then by a Black Federal Prosecutor (who refused to prosecute)
- In a Country with a Black President
- Yet they still claim racism.

I am well aware of the "racial and sociopolitical realities".... there were over 2,000,000 arrests last year in the US. That resulted in less than 300 shootings of unarmed men - you have a greater chance of being struck by lightning than being shot by the police.

While furthermore, studies have shown that White Americans are more likely to be shot by US police (per capita) than blacks.
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/12/upshot/surprising-new-evidence-shows-bias-in-police-use-of-force-but-not-in-shootings.html

In a cruel irony, you have proven the very point I have set out to make - you have ignored the bigger picture, and the facts, and cherry picked a few incidents to suppliment your own bias.

If there is one thing on this earth that I cannot and will not tolerate; it is racism. To say a person is racist because of the color of their skin is the definition of racism. It disgusts me to the core of my soul.

If you want to continue this discussion we can use the "Who has the strongest..." because it seems to be dead now.

My brother is a doctor.

One night a guy walked into the Casualty Ward with over 20 nails driven into his skull (some were in his brain). Apart from blood loss the only real problem he had was severe concussion. Aparently he made a full recovery even though they had to leave a number of nails in his head.

The human body is a strange thing, sometimes it is very fragile, other times it can take ridiculous ammounts of punishment.
