He is igbo..! If we, as a tribe contribute in ethnic bigotry been exhibited by his tribe in administrations that aren't led by persons from our tribe, does he think Naija will still stand as a Nation? We are civil in our actions and thoughts, and that is the basic underlying principle of our existence as a people. Call it cowardice, but it has helped propel us as the most important political factor and unifying agent in the Nation 2 Likes |

proxillin: To whose advantage is it that Nigeria is "one"? Certainly not the millions without job, without electricity, no money, almajiris & agberos & touts roaming the street. Only for a few with oil wells. What is even the meaning of "one"? When there is ethno-religious/herdsmen killing/kidnapping all around? Because from what I remember, SW threatened to secede during Abacha/Abiola saga. Is being "one" just expedient when they feel their bread is somehow being buttered? 17 Likes |

Pprovost:Oh common, at the detriment of millions of Nigerians? What if it takes ages to get there, and even if they finally get it, at max its 8yrs.... Can Nigeria be fixed in 8yrs by the SW? These are important questions tinubu and co need to ask themselves first. 1 Like |

hotwax:Check very well brother. I am not the OP and I am not here to correct your assertion but to point out one thing you are missing. If you really want to compare your region, why go for Britain? Why not Russia? Britain has the most fearful citizens in the world. They are afraid of anything that flies. They are cowards. Do you think their exit from EU is because they don't gain economically compared to the fund they inject into the union? They are afraid of muslim refuges. they don't say much because they don't want to be attacked. 7 Likes |

Go to Somailia, Congo and see what civil war looks like. You and I know that Nigeria will not break peacefully. Its going to be bloody and the war will not end. What is even the meaning of "one"? There's nothing strange about this development. Everything in Nigeria is tied to politics, even issues which ordinarily should have nothing to do with politics are usually influenced by partisan sentiments. The niger-delta activists all went dumb during the reign of GEJ, even though we all know GEJ did nothing for the region during his presidency. Similarly we had cases of policemen arresting, incarcerating and even killing massob members some years back under GEJ, but we never heard any uproar from anyone in the SE cos the politics in Abuja appeared to be favourable. Similarly there were countless number of fulani herdsmen strikes and clashes with communities in the middlebelt region and in some cases, in the upper parts of the SE; there was never an uproar against the government for the same obvious reasons not until May 29th 2015, and then we all remembered there was some menace in existence called fulani herdsmen. Furthermore, during the time of GEJ, northern youths raised a lot of dust over even the most meaningless things, today worse things are happening but they've all gone cold and dumb. Can someone please imagine what would have happened had it been that the zaria shiite massacre happened under GEJ?... Hell would have been let lose and the northerners who are mainly sunnis would have remembered that even the shiites are still their brothers and sisters. Now the SW which has always championed the cause of restructuring seems to have also gone mute, the reasons are obvious, its the abuja political sentiment. In summary, the fact is that when people make a loud uproar against a perceived injustice, the driving force most times is usually politics; when the politics in Abuja appears to favour a group, the group tends to sheath their swords. 23 Likes 2 Shares |

Please flash bank and remember the songs in the sixties: by late Hulbert Ogunde,Yoruba nronu, it is one of the plans of the fmr almighty senator---------------'s move to become the leader of Southwest and beyond, and without him bow and makes himself and Yoruba people slaves to a particular tribes or zones, he can not realise such ambition. This are the same people crying fowl about the activities of past administration. May God help us. |

Must separation be through war? Czechoslovakia needed no war to separate. A referendum can sort it out. In any case, our ancestors did not vote for one Nigeria in 1914. If SW are so enamoured of 9ja, they should not threaten when things don't go the way of the elite. How was SW going to secede as they threatened in 1990s? Through a moin-moin or non moin-moin war? 3 Likes |

pyxon: And the majority of Yorubas I know frowned at this Oba statements. We all know how all Igbos are cheering Niger delta avenga. Despite the fact that Buhari won in Yoruba lands, Jonthan was still able to pull a significant vote. it was 55:45 Meaning Yorubas are not bigots, some of them still had the reason to vote for GEJ. Thats yoruba for you. Thats reasoning and civility. 10 Likes |

I hope Azuka gets to read this, I have a rejoinder to his infantile article. Yorubas are not silent, they are wise. Yorubas do not act just to prove a point, Yorubas act after due consultation and after well informed directives from their leaders, something most tribes lack in Nigeria. I think Azuka's concern is not that Yorubas are silent, no. His concern is that the Southwest is not boiling as other regions and that in spite of all things 'Nigerian', the region still thrives economically. How did you expect Yorubas to react to the unfortunate and senseless murder of the lady Evangelist? Go to Hausa communities in the state and kill Islamic clerics just to prove a point? Yorubas are more sensible than that...for the records Azuka, stop your patronising statement that you have written 'good' articles about the Southwest, Yorubas DO NOT need your validation. Focus your future articles on addressing the negative image drug peddlers and petty criminals from the Southeast are giving to the Igbo nation and Nigeria at large, and the fact that Igbo elders have been 'silent' and compromising in the face of protracted shameful acts by their 'children'. Live the Yoruba nation alone, she knows how to treat her illness...stop drinking alabukun for another man's headache. 19 Likes 3 Shares |
