If you follow yourhead knowledge of the word fulfil you would assume Jesus was talking about coming to ensure all the killings and all that must be done but what Christ meant was that he had come to fulfil the law in Himself by being the sacrifice required by law both for the guilty and the innocent so the old testament demands would end with Him as He was ro be the ushering in of a new and a better way hence the NEW TESTAMENT which preaches mercy, grace and love.
Why are todays believers not killing and maiming anymore. Its because GOD HAS NOW POURED OUT HIS SPIRIT as promised and that spirit has been assigned to prove the Love of God...so love does not kill or maim or destroy or condemn.
2 dispensations were in play...the dispensation of the LAW and now the dispensation of GRACE. We are saved by faith through grace and not of works (law) lest any man should boast.
