Thank God Siasia collected Bribes from Umar, Imoh, Etebo and Co to be in the Team! This is the same Siasia many have condemned on this thread, and this is the same Team many expected to be disgraced out of the Tourney because their favourite Players ain't making List! I was once an ardent Follower of this thread, but I quitted because of sentiments and favourism. Majority believed Amuneke is by a mile better than Siasia..... alas where is the U20 Team now?! Goodjoe was a Believer until he was Supernerd wasn't fully buying the allegations, but didn't know which side to be at the same time! But He never loses hope on the Team, perhaps a slight hope on Siasia! Forgiveness was tagged a tribal Bigot because of his stance! He believes every Player should be given a fair chance, but some Dudes believe without Iheanacho, Iwobi and Co the Team is a complete right off! Without playing the third Match..... the Team has already booked a place in the next Round - as the Winner of the Group, and by God's willing they will go further and do us proud! 2 Likes |

Oasis007: Most of the criticism on this thread were justified. Siasia carried along too many players that.should have been dropped ages ago. Even with better options, Awoniyi, Dimgba, Ekpai were escorting the team up and down. Look at the players that have made the difference so far, they are players outside the core of siasia's team to the Suwon tournament. The manner of defeats in the Suwon tournament, i believe was the turning point for Siasia because it forced him to realise the garbage, he was carrying. I mentioned that the final team was decent and much better than what was being paraded in the preparatory matches. Quite frankly, i think most of the criticism was valid. I personally contacted a man close to the team and told him that we can not go to the olympics with Awoniyi and Ajayi as our strikers. Good to see that Siasia heeded some of the advices. 4 Likes |

BascoVanVeli: Brazil might not even qualify from their group. If Denmark should draw again with them and Iraq somehow win SA, thats all for the Brazilian team. So possibilty of only Denmark and Iraq qualifying is there. |

Tactically, Siasia is superior to any indigenous Coach. We should have believed in his tactical ability instead of alleging him wrongly! Many said, he had collected Bribes from some set of Players who are automatically gonna make the Team to RIO! Where is the Evidence of the bribery Allegations? Which Players in the Team bought their Spots? Had he failed in the first two Matches, the Story would have been; We warned him; We saw this coming; We ain't surprised; Siasia is the worse Indigenous Coach! The Stars studded Brazilian Team, with Neymar and Jesus in their Rank, have failed to pick up a win despite the preparations they made and playing on the Home Soil! It's simply about being so determined and absolutely hungry for success, not by being Stars! |

forgiveness: I've been following this thread before you could imagine! I did make comments with my primary Moniker but until I was really pissed off! It was so irritating that they wanted some set of Players to be in RIO regardless of their fitness, availability, adaptability and commitment to the cause! I was a Fan and enjoying Sir Goodjoe until he gets Meanwhile, Kudos to everyone for keeping the thread alive till date! We shall all be here to celebrate the victory together soon! |

I have always said that at this U23 level Nigeria arguable has the best of players in the world imagine Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom were on target as Arsenal defeated cross-city rivals Manchester City 3-2 in a friendly game played at the Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg. supposing this guys came for the Olympics, that will be mortal combat for our opponents |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Oasis007(m): 9:15am On Aug 08, 2016 |
robosky02: Though I concur with your submission but Club Footie is different from National Team Footie! Brazil has the best Team at the Olympic yet they couldn't score a goal against lesser Teams! Garba had the best Legs at his disposal at the U20 yet he failed! Amuneke failed woefully despite parading promising Lads! Siasia had done us proud with the U20 and U23 Teams respectively! Hence my submission is; it's not by Stars rather by tactical management! |

Oasis007: My stance has not changed. I believe we needed Derik Osede in camp. Reports said Coach Siasia did not know him. That meant he did not do proper screening for our U23 team. It took the drubbing of the Denmark U23;team to spark a change in Coach Siasia's approach, that was when he invited the likes of Ndidi, Iheanacho, Success, Mikel Agu etc. That was the cry, hold a fair screening and not the selected boys. Do you think there we would complain if from Day 01, we suspected fair selections. Hope you noticed how we lost grip towards the end after Coach Siasia dropped Mikel. Many believed Mikel in the midfield will bring some stability. As we pointed over again Mikel brings more to the team than people know. I still believe Chidebere Nwakali should have come to camp. After Clubs denied Siasia some of the players he called after Suwon tourney, the complains reduced. My stance did not change from the start. I am convinced, not confused that he wanted Oduwa and Oduduwa at the Olympics. Irrespective of the availability of better players. After Oduduwa injured, Coach Siasia said he wanted the medical staffs to work round the clock to get Oduduwa fit. The Denmark drubbing made him change his stance. We appreciated his change and you can see the impact of Sadiq Umar. Awoniyi lost his place to Sadiq. We wanted fair calls not direct entry for players he liked. The drubbing of the team by Denmark helped. Plus a little bit of my Planking. 2 Likes |

Player Ratings, Nigeria 1-0 Sweden: Top Marks For AS Roma Sadiq Umar The Nigeria Under-23s are through to the knock out round of the Rio 2016 Olympics courtesy of a 1-0 win over Sweden thanks to a headed goal from Sadiq Umar. Owngoalnigeria.com rates the player on show for Nigeria. Emmanuel Daniel: Just like the first half, had nothing at all to do between the sticks for Nigeria, didn’t make a single save as Sweden didn’t do anything meaningful in the Nigerian goal area….7/10 Shehu Abdullahi: Joined the attack more in the second half, linked up well with Ezekiel. His ability to defend and attack in equal measures is a plus to the Nigerian team….7/10 Stanley Amuzie: Very good going forward and provided the assist for Umar, provided more of the same in the second half but still remained suspect when he needed to defend….6.5/10 Sincere Seth: Improved on his first half performance with some nice interceptions and coverage for the full backs, appears to be forging an understanding with Ekong in central defence….6/10 William Troost Ekong: Solid showing from the former Dutch youth international, you can’t fault his desire and he stepped it up with a commanding display in the second half ….7/10 Azubuike Okechukwu: Provides the stamina, does the dirty job and happy to play deep, allowing the likes of Mikel and Usman play ahead of him, was his usual self, although had a better second half ….7/10 Mikel Obi: The ease at which he has settled into his childhood role of playing as an attacking midfielder, has once again raised debates about if his move to Chelsea was the right move, came close to scoring twice and put in a very good shift until he was substituted ….7.5/10 Usman Mohammed: Salient achiever in the middle for Nigeria, kept the shape of the team with quick passes to set up attacks, knows when to play it simple or otherwise….7/10 Imoh Ezekiel: Livewire of the Nigerian team in attack, never scared of running at defenders, has pace to burn and also did a good job defensively as well, badly in need of a goal to crown his efforts so far….7.5/10 Ogenekaro Etebo: Had more shots on target than any other player on the pitch, unlucky not to get on the score sheet but as usual made his presence known with some strong energetic runs….6.5/10 Sadiq Umar: Got a rousing applause upon his substitution, a sign of how well he played, his goal won it for Nigeria and deservedly so as it secures progression to the next round…8.5/10 Substitutes: Aminu Umar: Picked up a needless booking from a poorly timed tackle, didn’t play between the lines like the man he replaced Sadiq Umar and for the minutes he was on failed to get on same wavelength with his teammates….4/10 Kingsley Madu: Was brought on to aid Amuzie in defending but did very little defensively and offensively was wasteful when he had the ball….3/10 Ndifreke Udo: Slotted in perfectly at right back for Shehu Abdullahi, didn’t do much in terms of attacking but got the job done….5/10 http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/08/08/player-ratings-nigeria-1-0-sweden-top-marks-for-as-roma-sadiq-umar-2/ 1 Like 1 Share |

Mikel: Chelsea Teammates Asked Me About Etebo Chelsea players were eager to know about Ogenekaro Etebo, after his four goals for Nigeria in their opening game at the Rio 2016 Olympics against Japan, according to captain of the Nigerian side Mikel John Obi. CD Feirense of Portugal forward Etebo, stole the headline in Nigeria’s 5-4 win over Japan scoring four times in the nine goal thriller from just five shots on target, and it has brought the abilities of the former Warri Wolves ace to the world. ” I spoke with some of my teammates and about three of them wanted to know about Etebo, He has done himself a whole lot of good but that is just one game, I strongly believe he can do more” Mikel said in the pre match conference ahead of Nigeria’s clash against Sweden. Nigeria won the game against Sweden 1 nil and is looking to play the last game in the group stage against Columbia on Wednesday to have a perfect record. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/08/07/mikel-chelsea-teammates-asked-me-about-etebo/ 1 Like |

Oasis007: I still believe Amunike is a better coach than Coach Siasia without a doubt. Do you think Coach Siasia will get this kind of performances from his players if he did not have professionals in the team who could support the team during trials? Players like Ekong, Sadiq Umar, Etebo, Mikel, Imoh etc. These men are not hungry. Without funds from the NFF, these Guys moved to a better hotel. Amunike and his young men did not qualify because his young men lost patience. Not because of quality or tactics. Do you think these Siasia players will perform the same way on a flooded pitch? As for Amunike, I have confirmed him as Boss and I expect him to bounce back. Coach Siasia should watch his subbing of Mikel. I do not know what is up with that. He did that against Japan before we conceded towards the end. He did that against Sweden again. Coach Siasia should remove an attacking player during the end. Not a central midfielder. Imoh should have gone out, not Mikel. My heart pounded when Mikel went out. 2 Likes |

Oasis007: Come On. Coach Siasia lacks in a lot of areas. I like Coach Siasia too but he lacks in some ways. Especially his defence. Although I see him out growing that deficiency. He reminds me of a young Chris Coleman. The Coach of Wales in the Euros. Attack, attack, attack. There is more to the game than attack. We should rally behind Coach Siasia to get a deserved medal but putting him as the best, I disagree. Amunike is my pick. However, I feel Coach Siasia is very good. |

BascoVanVeli: My good Bro! But Manu Garba was bashed beyond repair after losing out at the U20 Tourney mostly by everyone on the Thread! Amuneke CV was questioned too after falling to qualify the Team for the U20 AFCON and automatically ruled us out of participating in the next U20 World Cup! On praising Samson Siasia..... can you mention just an Indigenous Coach that outperformed him at the level of U20 and U23 Competitions respectively?! |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by thegoodjoehunt3(m): 10:06am On Aug 08, 2016 |
Oasis007: Remove Sadiq Umar and put Awoniyi and you get a 4-4, 0-0 scoreline I both games. Which equals two points. I still believe a better screening would have gotten us a better defence set up. When the Swedes came out, they penetrated. This is not our best line up. If the Foreign clubs allowed Coach Siasia to have all he wanted, it would have been a different squad. Do not forget, we conceded four against Japan. Let us hope the coaching crew keep working on organization. Let us not feel we are invincible. The defence is poor and could be better. Many here drummed that the addition of Mikel will beef the team. I have no doubt that this team will be weaker without Mikel. Just as confun pointed out, the few additions like Ekong, Mikel and Sadiq have improved the squad massively. |

thegoodjoehunt3: Did you check the Questions I asked at all Sir? Does Awoniyi make it to RIO?! He was given a chance but he failed to grasp it. Mikel played poorly in the first Match..... but he showed his class as a senior and experienced Player in the second Match! The fluidity of the Team was also outstanding in the second Match, and it's obvious they are gelling up gradually together! |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by thegoodjoehunt3(m): 10:12am On Aug 08, 2016 |
Oasis007: I still maintain with better support and Preparation, our indigenous coaches can match their foreign top coaches. Pinnick betrayed Amunike and I am disappointed in him. Amunike was raising a glorious generation but Pinnick abandoned those young men to rot. Just like I believe Coach Siasia with better support and time to groom a team to play the way he likes he would succeed. I believe Amunike was on to something special. Pinnick put a dent in the preparation of the future Super Eagles. I believe our future is still solid and these boys Amunike groomed will still play their part. I respect our coaches and I expect more from them. What we need is growth. I hope Coach Siasia grows with this competition. The reason we bashed Coach Manu Garba is because we know he is far better than what we saw in New Zealand. |
