Siasia shunned the calls of sports minister Solomon Dalung and directly called the Nigerian vice-president Yemi Osinbajo to complain about his team’s plight.

Good move by Coach Siasia. It is good you have the VP's number. That was what Coach Westerhof did to avoid this annoying people running our sports.

Am I missing something? When did forgiveness put his neck on the line for Coach Siasia? I did not notice it.

cc: forgiveness.

I have been wondering since yesterday o. Forgiveness that does not believe in any Nigerian coach. He was condemning the local players including Etebo. I was doubly surprised when forgiveness was beating his chest too. I was just laughing.

I didn't want to add to the war of words that's why I didn't respond to oasis. It's a convenient position he has taken. We would never have heard from him if Siasia took the woeful squad he paraded during the Suwon tournament and had failed woefully.

Anyway, I'm here to enjoy the tournament.

What matters is for these guys to have a good tournament. I hope the challenges are behind the Dream Team.

If people here feel they know it all, do you think we would debate or have different point of views? I must point that you are not making it healthy when you throw in statements like that.

People had different opinions. No one here worked in the camp to say money exchanged hands. Those accusations came from agents and managers of players Coach Siasia did not pick.

Some believed that as the explanation of why Coach Siasia dropped some good players or why he did not call some that will give some players in the squad competition.

We come here to share ideas and educate ourselves. If we know all, we would not read information from different sources posted here.

I am very sorry for the statement! I know it's wrong but I was pissed to include it by a certain Moniker!

I retract it back and deeply regret it! I will modify the post to remove it now!

I tender my apologies to everyone!

Now the issue is what we do against Colombia. Do we rest our players or see how they fare against another attacking team. The group is secure but as we have come to see resting players can backfire.

I say we rest because coaches celebrate time to rest their players. We see the complaints of not enough time to rest players from coaches in Europe.

After winning the Community Shield, Mourinho said he was happy with his team playing their next game on Sunday. That gives him an extra day to rest their players.

I have not dropped a comment till now coz there was really nothing major to say.

Me, I have always made my position known... I am for the Rise of Nigeria's Second Super Golden Generation... Coz I saw the possibilities since last year... This is what I champion.

I am for the NigerianSoccerProject... wink

And every opinion given by all on this thread before Mr Oasis showed up was for the good of the Dream team Eagles.

I have never given up on any national team and will never do so... But constructive criticism is allowed.

Oasis007 (hope I got that right)... Don't get it wrong with theGoodjoe... He is the only one who always stood up for Siasia... Or didn't you see that in previous pages?

Calling him confused is not fair mehn!!! His plank-carrying was very necessary. Who is in a better position to chastise u other than the one that loves you most? wink

That's what thegoodjoe was doing... smiley

Me, I criticised when I had to but also pointed out before the Rio games that Siasia's addition of Sadiq Umar, Troost Ekong, Mikel Obi, Madu, Imoh Ezekiel, Shehu Abdullahi and Aminu Umar to the best of his "sure lieutenants" in Etebo, Usman mohammed, Azubuike, and others will make us a decent side that can still compete and thankfully they are doing well so far and hopefully will continue this awesome run... smiley

A team that defied jet-lag science is a team to be feared and respected... smiley

Sir thegoodjoe / thegoodjoehunt3, Nigerian football won't be down for too long... Those challenges are certainly behind the Dream team now... Mikel and Co. Can smell the medal zone from here on... wink

Bros, haba! grin It is true I stopped believing in any Nigerian coaches after I saw what Keshi and Emmanuel Amuneke did with their teams and after Siasia selection against Egypt.

Siasia was the only coach I supported before he started selecting mediocre players during his last short stay as the Super Eagles interim coach. This is because I love his style of attacking football and I still rate him above Emmanuel Amunike by far. But I don't support bad selection of players which is based on nepotism.

However, I wanted to know why he selected these players and that was what led me to discover that these players where the only ones that honoured his invitations and eventually helped him to qualify for the Olympics football game. It is logical normal for him to call these sets of players ahead of those who loves their clubs than the National team.

It was then I changed my mind to stop criticising his final selection. You will notice it from that time I set up how my first eleven will look like recently because I have changed my mind to support the team. But it doesn't mean I support Siasia for now.

About Etebor Ogehnekaro, there was no time I did not include him on my list because it was glaring he helped us qualify for the Olympics football game. Although, I don't support some home based players mentioned here ahead of some established foreign based players.

Lastly, I can only see Mikel and Sadiq Umar as the only players add to that team and nothing more. So, what is the big difference?

[b]I HAVE CONQUERED MY FEARS SAYS NIGERIA NEW STAR SADIQ UMAR

Going into Wednesday night's final group game against Colombia, AS Roma striker Sadiq Umar has said he hopes to score more goals at the Rio Olympics after he fired his second goal of the tournament against Sweden.

“I have played with some fear in my first two games because I am playing for the national team for the first time, but all that has now gone and I believe I can score more goals at this tournament,” the 19-year-old Sadiq has vowed.

The Abuja Football College protégé’s two goals have been crucial to Nigeria cruising to the last eight with a game to spare.

He opened scoring with a simple tap-in to inspire Dream Team VI to a thrilling 5-4 win over Asian champions Japan.

He looked to the skies as it was a goal to honour the memory of his father, who died while he was in training camp in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, prior to the Olympics.

The Kaduna-born will then be the match winner against European champions Sweden.

And on both occasions he benched new Al Ahly 2.5 million Euros signing Junior Ajayi and Super Eagles forward Umar Aminu.

Serie A side Roma have already given ‘Jololo’ a four-year contract after a successful season-long loan stint from Serie B Spezia.

On Wednesday night, the gangling striker will again hope to get a few more goals past Colombia shot stopper Cristian Bonilla, who himself was once a striker as a child.

The 23-year-old Bonilla made his international debut at the 2009 U17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria, before he featured at two FIFA U20 World Cups in 2011 and 2013.

He has already been compared with Colombia’s No.1 Oscar Cordoba.

So, whose star will be shinning the brighter between Nigeria’s new discovery and the highly-rated goalkeeper from Colombia?

This question will begin to be answered from 11pm Nigerian time Wednesday inside the gigantic Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, which is an hour ahead of Manaus, where both teams have played their first two group games.

hi great people been a while i posted here first of big kudos to all the posters keeping this thread lively. really glad the dream team is doing so well after their shaky preparations and stranded in atlanta brouhaha. for our last match siasia might be in the dilemma if he should field the same starting xi to maintain momentum which is important in a tournament football competition like this but i would rather he rest our more important players like sadiq umar, etebo and mikel. the defence line can be left alone to continue to gel. would like to see popoola, ajayi, aminu umar and kingsley madu start in the colombia match so we can see what they have to offer.

lets all (players, coaches and fans alike) stay positive and humble. take each game as it comes.

side note but meeeennnnn! sadiq and etebo be ballers o! and to think this team is missing the likes of iwobi, iheanacho, success, ndidi etc yet can still produce shows how bright the future is for the super eagles

[b]SIASIA LINES UP BENCH WARMERS AGAINST COLOMBIA

Nigeria coach Samson Siasia has said he will rest several of his first-team stars for Wednesday night’s final group game against Colombia as his team have already won the group and are through to the last eight.

READ: PREVIEW Colombia vs Nigeria

Nigeria battle Colombia inside the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo by 11pm Nigerian time.

"I had to take this decision (to rest starters) because we have qualified for the quarterfinals as group leaders, and secondly I need to rest some of the starters because in the next phase there is a possibility of going into extra time,” he said.

"For now the boys have done well and I need to make the other players justify why I selected them for this tournament.

“This is not a tea party so everyone must stand up to be counted, and the only way they can be counted is if they played well against Colombia.

“Resting some starters does not mean we are underrating the opposition."

The likes of Al Ahly new signing Junior Ajayi, goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and late comer Umar Aminu are therefore expected to start on Wednesday.

Siasia also disclosed that the technical crew is working hard on the defence line, as the knockout stages will see stingy defence –lines complemented by vicious attacking lines.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria U23s will for the first time in the tournament, wear all-white jerseys in the game against Colombia.

Bad move, just one loss is enough to destabilize the team and consequently affect the psychology of the team.
We need to keep the momentum going.

And u don't have to review all ur plans to the public, not everything u must let the public know about ur team,Siasia should learn restraint,he talks too much.
When ur opponent is aware that u will b lining up ur second team,it gives them a psychological advantage with the mind set of playing a weaker opposition.
Let's just hope this does haunt us.
Anyways,we don't even have second team self.
But the danger is giving ur opponent the impression they will b facing a weaker team.
