bellong:Thanks Bellong for the reply. Please does this apply to the visa application stage too?. We dont need to show POF even when applying for visa? His occupation(civil engineer) is on the SOL list and we intend to apply for 189. He will be doing the assessment with EA. |

Hi Bellong, Thanks very much for your quick reply, actually I logged in and wanted to change my user name but couldn't, so I used my wife page Tutu to send you the question. Any ways, please I still have two more questions for you . In the Scol list, I saw Mechanical Engineering Technician so I feel since I am a mechanical Engineer I can apply, but what is restricting me is that on my experience, I was mostly employed as an NDT inspector/engineer for Pipe inspections and containers. and finally a Quality engineer in an oil and gas coy. Do you advice me to go ahead and apply? I think both are closely related. Lastly, is the assessment done before payment or after payment? Please advice? Best Regards. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bellong: 6:11am On Aug 31, 2016 |
@Tutubabe, 1. One of the links I put in the opening has job descriptions for all occupation. Type in your occupation and compare your current job description with it. You can always get to make it be related. Yes you can apply as long as you meet the requirements. 2. Assessment is done after payment (you shouldn't be asking this one) |

Job weldone to the creator and contributors on this thread. God bless you all real good. Please do we have any medical doctor in the house? I need clarification on the method of skill assessment with Medical Council of Australia. If in addition to a favourable English Test, the outcome of the Primary Source Verification (PVR) through ECFMG AND EPIC is all that is required to fill an EOI after having crossed the 60points benchmark. Kindly advice. Thank you |

[quote author=tyosho post=48910574] Pls try ICAA.My hubby is an auditor. The same job experience got him a positive skill assesment as a general accountant(the same documents he used to get a positive skill assesment as auditor is the same he used for general accountant). Does ICAA still assess Accountants? When was your Hubby assessed? I think it's only CPA/IPA/CA. |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bellong: 9:33pm On Aug 31, 2016 |
Remtol, I am not an accountant, I don't know the process for CPA. You can shoot them an email if after reading all the instructions on their website and you can't find answers. I don't think syllabus is required but wait for the accountants to clarify that for you. Yinkzy03, For doctors, it is a marathon not a sprint.. Google AHPRA, you will find the process there. You need to write an exam which is in two stages. You must be qualified to practice in Australia before you can apply for PR. |

Kudos to everybody who has contributed to this great thread... There is a question bothering me that i've been unable to find an answer to after reading every page of this thread. Please, those who have gotten 189 or 190, where did you get your visas? I mean the physical visa that goes in the Passport.. Reason why I'm asking this is because, I'm in the UK and I would like to avoid a situation where application is made in the UK, UK visa runs out, decision is made, visa is granted, however, i'll then have to return to UK for the Visa.. That kind thing no go make sense at all... Please clarify. Thanks |

Please, for all that got positive assessment from EA, did anyone upload an original student copy of transcript. If not, did anyone ask their university to send an original. I'm asking because when I went through the MSA booklet, there was a footnote where they said no certified copy of any original document should be uploaded. Meanwhile, my school usually do physical mailing. Please help clarify. cc McTowel01, Bellong, humanshado, others |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Bnimz(m): 10:56am On Sep 01, 2016 |
bellong: Thanks boss.. That one don dey cleared up.... second question, I read the MSA guide in full, and my understanding of it was that assessment is divided into Professional Engineer, Engineering Technologist and Engineering Associate WITHIN your specific engineering profession.. However, from what i've been reading on this thread, it appears that for example: If you apply for assessment as an Electrical Engineer (professional engineer) and assessment comes out and classifies you as Engineering Technologist (which is the most likely outcome without work experience), you can no longer apply for 189 or 190 as an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, but only as an Engineering Technologist. is this correct?? |

metrecube: At least you've submitted. I will have to wait till Oct to know what this new service is all about. I pray vetassess will show more leniency on our bachelor's degree. It's proving quite cumbersome for a self employed mother of 3 like me to gather my proof of employment, Vetassess ain't encouraging at all!!! |

Has anyone paid (EA) accessment fees recently? At what rate did you do it and in which bank? |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by mctowel01: 2:04pm On Sep 01, 2016 |
Bnimz:Yes, very true. Electrical Engineer and Engineering Technologist are different occupations on the SOL list. Its whatever occupation you get accessed for that you can use to apply for the PR visa |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by chuckdee13(m): 2:39pm On Sep 01, 2016 |
The application is online which means ur sch sends nothing to them. Meanwhile the student copy is just fine, thats what I used. The MSA booklet is just saying u should not certify anything meaning u should scan original documents and not photocopies. jamson: |
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by chuckdee13(m): 2:46pm On Sep 01, 2016 |
Yes thats correct but no one said that the most likely outcome without work experience is engineering technologist, ur CDR speaks for u not work experience. Just apply for professional engineer if u hold a beng or bsc and write a convincing CDR...the rest is up to EA. Bnimz: |

Hi guys, I contacted the advisory service but they are down now to help me with my assessment process, if i may ask you is a Bachelor degree in Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Techniques) with 2.2 considered a qualification a field highly relevant to Microbiologist or Laboratory Manager or Quality Assurance Manager occupation? They are biological science related courses but it seem Laboratory and Quality Managers are at management level. Please, which of them do you think I have better chance of positive assessment from Vetassess?. Thank you. |

sheguru:Vetassess is one of the toughest assessment bodies. You have to give them exactly what they want if not na gobe. You should be okay if your business is registered. |

Hello all. Please is there anyone in the agriculture field here who can decipher whether agricultural scientist occupation is closely related to an aquaculture farmer? Must the job roles in both be similar word for word in order to get a positive assessment from Vetassess? Secondly, if one has just one year experience alone yet vetassess deducts a year, is it still advisable to use that same experience without claiming points at all for it? Thank you. |

Hi all, For all the engineers in the house, is it recommended to do the skilled work assessment? my brother recently got a positive assessment as an electrical engineer and is skeptical about paying another fee for the assessment. what is your advice? if the assessment is recommended, what other supporting documents can he include apart from the reference letter, offer letter, promotion letter, confirmation of appointment, bank statement and pension statement. he does not have his payslips. Your suggestion will be highly appreciated. cc: humanshado, chuckdee13, jukeblam, ibiyemiara |
